Plato's Closet Madison West

I stopped in briefly mostly to check out for my teen son suddenly interested in his look. There is definitely more female clothing. I’ll be back with the teen in tow. Heck, even a teen father found some cool stuff. I bought one shirt with new tags still on it. It’s a $45 shirt new that I bought for $22 here. Still a good deal in my mind. More expensive than thrift stores. Definitely more clothes on the rack that you will likely want than thrift too. I easily could have brought home clothes that I liked.

LOVE PLATO'S! Great customer service every time I go. Great selection for all shapes and sizes. Stores are always clean and I appreciate the variety of options every time I shop there. I've been shopping at both Plato's in Madison for forever! :-)

Amazing store, amazing staff. Love the fact that they are locally owned and give back to the community in awesome ways from the local donations they make, to the annual giveaway. Great clothes and accessories at awesome prices. Love this store!!!!

Great place to find new and lightly used clothing for a deeply discounted price I've always found good deals every time i visit! Ignore all the terrible reviews they're mainly just people that are irritated they couldn't turn in their likely gifted clothing for cash because they were desperate for the money and couldn't return to the store itself! You have to understand they're just trying to run a business the racks are absolutely full they can only take on so much new inventory I wish there were more places like this it's great for the environment to be able to resale perfectly good clothing as opposed to filling up are landfills! Don't hesitate to check it out from a couple people's biased opinions because they were upset in the moment! The staff was very professional, helpful and polite!

I visited Plato's Closet recently and had a mixed experience. Initially, their system was down due to a storm, which I understood was beyond their control. However, the real frustration came when I called later in the day to inquire if the system was back up and what time they closed. The associate confirmed that the system was functioning and stated they closed at 9pm. What they didn't mention was that they don't accept sale intakes within an hour of closing. So, I arrived an hour before closing with a small bucket of clothes, only to be turned away, wasting two trips to the store. This lack of communication was disappointing.

The best place to find great outfits for any occasion at affordable prices

I came here to buy shoes and would not recommend this store for that purpose. It’s very difficult to try them on at all; the only place to do so is the middle of the narrow aisles, which people want to walk through, which is annoying. Once you try them on, you can’t see how they feel to walk in, because the shoes are attached so tightly together by the little plastic thing that you can only take the tiniest shuffling steps. And shoes are nonreturnable, so if you buy them, wear them, and realize that they aren’t comfortable to walk in, which you had no way of knowing before you bought them, you’re out of luck. I was very disappointed by this.
However, the staff seemed pleasant enough, and it looked like they had a nice selection of both clothing and shoes.

A little experiment and my general experience:

Staff is friendly and helpful. I've come in twice to drop things off for selling. They are quite picky as even most of the items I brought in were name brand (I guess not trendy though).

On my second time in I thought I'd try a little experiment so threw in a $795 sweater new with tags on it and a flannel that I've seen Kanye West wear (the same brand and model/design). The price part of the tag was removed off the $795 sweater and the kanye flannel was used but originally about $500. Well, both items were given back to me. It seems that Plato's Closet didn't feel them to be worth at least $2. The sweater would fetch about $300 on ebay and the flannel about $140 (I found the same items in a recently sold search).

I don't run their business but it was strange seeing target brand and k-mart brands in the men's and women's section. Maybe take it with a grain of salt if your clothes get rejected too.

It's amazing I used to work next door to them and they are awesome. Imma be seeing them today. And give them some stuff. And hopefully I get some money. If not its ok. Sometimes u gotta see where u get ur stuff. They're just doin their job.
