The Cargo Bike Shop

I have two electric cargo bikes and this is the only place I have them serviced. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They always let you know exactly what repairs you need as well as options so you can make the best decisions for your situation. I purchased studded tires for winter riding from them, and they store my regular tires for me, which is super handy! They are incredibly knowledgeable about the bikes they sell, and even do assembly and service on bikes they don’t sell (sometimes, reach out to them first). All around excellent bike shop. I highly recommend them!

Excellent place! Was super excited to find out this place services RadPower Bikes, as when I bought my RadRunner 2 there was not a shop in Madison that would. The staff is very professional and courteous, and the service on my bike was quick and prompt! It's great that there is a cargo bike shop within walking distance of home, as my cargo bike replaced my car. Will be back here for all my bike needs.

If you’re looking for a skilled e-bike specialist who is equipped to handle anything from basic maintenance and small repairs to significant overhauls and major customizations the Cargo Bike Shop is the place for you. In addition to maintenance and repairs, the staff have the mindset of a teacher and will assist in the selection of the best bike for your needs—even if it means pointing out a product sold by a different bike shop. That said, the selection of quality bikes (cargo or standard, e-bike or not) which the Cargo Bike Shop sells is amazing, so the likelihood you’ll find better equipment elsewhere is low.

Following a very poor experience with another bike shop in Madison I needed to find an honest mechanic willing and able to service my cargo e-bike. Tim, at the Cargo Bike Shop fit the bill. Though I did not purchase my bike from him, he and his staff were helpful and far more knowledgeable about e-bikes and equipped to service them than any of the other shops I’d visited.

Following a great experience with him on some basic maintenance, Tim helped me scope out a fairly large drive-train customization. Which in the end turned out even better than I’d hoped. His communication before and during the project was stellar: Tim warned me beforehand of the possibility of issues with the availability of some parts I’d selected, and successfully sourced the parts when the sole supplier was less than responsive. Even with a significant amount of extra effort on Tim’s part, the final price was fair and the quality of work second-to-none.

I rented two cargo bikes here for a day of festivities. The staff are informative, responsive, and there’s a bunch of great merch in the shop to fill your panniers. Get a coffee while you enjoy geeking out about cargo bikes and your kid can ride the Strider rocker. Can’t wait to rent again!

Very pleased with my experience! Walked in with a flat, left with a fixed bike in probably 20 minutes. The person doing my repair was competent, kind and didn't talk down, which I always appreciate. He also diagnosed other problems that I could get looked at at a later date, but didn't pressure me to make an appointment or up sell. Price for fixing the flat was very reasonable! Will definitely be going here next time I need a repair or want to buy a new bike.

This bike shop is absolutely terrific!! Called around all Saturday morning to get an estimate on fixing the brakes on my Trek 7100 hybrid bike. Most of the shops that I talked to stated that I would have to leave my bike there for 1-2 weeks before they could get to it. Tim the owner stated that his second mechanic was coming in soon and they could fix it that day. I could also wait and get a coffee and pastries if I wanted from the coffee shop and bakery that are located on each side of their store. By the time I got there, : "Teeny" was there and assessed all my bikes needs and switched out my brake pads and cables quickly. Their customer service was exceptional and the workmanship and expertise regarding bike repair is outstanding. Would definitely recommend this shop to anyone with questions or bike needs.

Best service at a bicycle shop I’ve ever had, with reasonable prices! Tim and his staff do a wonderful job and are extremely knowledgeable about bicycle mechanics. Amazing with derailleurs. Their philosophy is to diagnose what is wrong immediately, give you a price, and then fix it on the spot if they can. You watch while they fix it and ask you questions about the bicycle and how you ride it. Also, there is a coffee shop and bakery right next door if you need to wait. Fantastic service!! Very friendly. These guys are the best!! Experienced in all brands of bicycles. Give them a try, you will be sold too!

The Cargo Bike Shop crew saved us today. I called on the off chance that they could take care of us on short notice. They said to drop in and see if it was an easy fix. They took the bike in and fixed it right up, just in time for a birthday bike ride tomorrow. We’re so impressed and grateful.

I had fallen victim to ordering some parts online because they were cheaper, but was reminded that supporting your LBS is always the way to go when I realized I hadn't ordered the correct size. After shopping around, Cargo Bike shop said they could order them for me and have them in pretty quickly for substantially cheaper than anywhere else in town. No complaints from me, and I'll definitely be a repeat customer.

Tim runs a class-act bike shop. He spends as much time as needed to understand client needs and explain his bikes, pros and cons, etc. We came to Tim to test ride one bike, but by the time we left, our family had tried out almost every bike in his fleet! We learned a lot through the process and many new questions popped up for us to answer. Tim encouraged us to test any of his bikes out for a few days, which I found marvelous. And never any pressure or weirdness. We really appreciated his approach to education and customer service; if we buy a cargo bike, it will be from him.

I have been taking my bike in to Tim at Cargo Bikes for servicing and repairs since the store opened. I would not go anywhere else. He is very authentic and knowledgeable about all aspects of biking and shares his knowledge taking into account the customer's experience. His prices are very reasonable too.

Resolved an issue with a newly purchased Rad Power Bike in a very timely manner. Good to have a locally owned quality bike shop in the neighborhood. Highly recommended.
