This is a fantastic local bike shop with an owner who knows the area and the bikes he sells well! I bought an Ibis Ripley AF here with plans to fly with it back home to the east coast, and Zach packed it very securely (even with extra cardboard panels on the sides). You’ll also notice the little things he does for customers, like the free heat-shrink tubing he had done for my new bike’s brake and shifter cables. I would certainly shop here again when I’m in the area!

I highly recommend Blue Mounds Bicycle Works,as the go to place to purchase your MT Bike and anything MTB related! Zach is very easy to talk to; responds really quickly with any questions you may have and you can tell he is passionate about MTB. He dialed in my IBIS to my exact specs. I drove 6 1/2 hrs + to it pick up and it was well worth it. More power to your business!

Stumbled across this gem of a bike shop after the previous Milwaukee-area shop I was trying to purchase my dream mountain bike through abruptly stopped returning my calls (after regaling me with horror stories of a 6-month wait to get it in late 2020, not to mention offering no test rides). The inventory Zach carries is amazing! After test riding different models and sizes and deciding on upgrades, Zach had my new 29'er ready for pick-up in three days. Can't wait to hit the trails! Highly recommend this fantastic bike shop!

I was looking for my next Mountain bike for a couple of months... I live in Chicago and checked so many bike shops in the area. One day I was in Madison, WI for a business trip and I just happened to be near by B.M.B.W so I decided to stop by... OMG, I was totally blown away... I am so picky and I had so many questions to ask Zach (the owner). The whole time he was very patient with me, while I was asking so many QUESTIONS and he had the knowledge I was looking for. Finally I ended up buying an
amazing CUSTOM BUILT bike with him, and the whole process was so smooth and on time! Guys if you are looking for a MTB or any bike, don't waste your time with any other shop, Zach is the best, he knows what he is doing. He will take care, and make you happy for sure! I highly recommend Blue Mounds Bicycle Works, a wonderful bike shop just 30 minutes west of Madison, to anyone looking for a mountain bike. Zach carries a wide range of Yeti, Ibis, Santa Cruz, etc, bikes - and he helped me select a Yeti ARC, which has been an incredible bike. He is clearly knowledgeable, and his customer service is outstanding. I look forward to working with Zach again in the future.

Zach is great, no nonsense, no pressure to buy, and really knows his stuff. Refreshing to work with someone who knows bikes as well as he does. As a small business owner, I appreciate other owners who pour their heart and soul into their business. He is the owner, mechanic and salesman, so he has the answers to all your questions. For such a small shop, there is a great variety of cool brands not easily found even in bigger stores. Love little shops like this. My return trip back for my free tune-up was an equally enjoyable experience as when when I first bought the bike. If you're looking for the cheapest place in town, go to the internet. If you value great service and are looking for fair and competitive pricing, cool bikes, and a local small shop - this is the place. Can't say enough good things about this shop.

Last spring I purchased a new bike from Zach at the shop, and the whole process was top notch. I took advantage of the 2 demo days that you can put toward a new bike. This is a good way to be able to ride the bikes on the trails to see what you like before you spend thousands of dollars on a new bike. This is a true MTB shop and they know what they are talking about. Definitely recommend checking these guys out for your next bike purchase.

I had the best experience buying my bike from Blue Mounds Bicycle Works. There was tons of selection and I was walked though the pros/cons of different mountain bikes. The owner had tons of knowledge and patience for someone getting into biking. I purchased my bike and he made sure I had everything I needed to start riding.

This shop went out of their way to dig up some random parts and help us through a "busted the bike while on vacation" scenario. Really saved the day, and for a very reasonable cost. Nothing but good things to say about the helpful service we received, and they've got one of the most legit selections of mountain bikes and gear that I've found in the Midwest, including some rad vintage stuff. My partner and I, and several of our friends, have been using BMBW almost since he opened. Every single one of us has received fantastic customer service, and I estimate this accounts for many dozen visits over the course of the last 1.5 years. On several occasions, Zach has gone out of his way to meet his customers needs. He stands behind his work, is honest and fair, and has made every reasonable effort (and then some) to fix any misunderstanding we've encountered. This is our go-to shop, especially for mountain and gravel needs, and we really hope it's here to stay.

Great selection of higher end bikes. The owner really knows his stuff and builds amazing bikes. The owner will take the time thoroughly explain everything to make sure you get exactly what you need.

Can't say enough good things about Blue Mounds Bicycle Works. Zach was awesome and helped me get acquainted with my new Ibis. The trails just down the road were also a challenge. Glad I made the trip from SE MI.

Zach was amazing and getting us the bike we wanted during the pandemic that was impossible to get! He is super nice and helpful and goes out of his way to make sure you get want you want and your happy with it!

2021 yeti sb140 T2

I got a really good deal on a new ZIPP 404 Firestrike, which is a limited version of the more readily available Firecrest, and slightly more advanced. It was listed on ebay as "come as is" which was without any tube, tire, and even skewer. When I inquired about the skewer, the price went up $50. I contacted the seller (owner of Blue Mounds Bicycle Works) about this and he agreed to sell the wheel for the original listed amount. I actually did a PAYPAL transaction with him which worked very well and the wheel arrived in a robust box. When I opened the box, the wheel was in a new ZIPP canvas bag, which also contained a new inner tube with an extended valve stem and new skewer. I couldn't have expected anything better than that. The wheel did not come "as shown", rather was shipped in the canvas bag, with skewer and tube. I bought a ZIPP 404 Firecrest rear wheel from a very close friend several weeks ago and now have a great matching front wheel with a cool story! Thank you!

Excellent/interesting selection of mountain bikes, a lot of brands not carried elsewhere in Madison area. Owner is very helpful, knowledgeable, and patient.
