Arcola Bluffs Day Use Area

A little hard to navigate trails but a really nice place to hike. Great streams, steep bluffs, and cool river views with the high bridge. The landscape is really cool with thick woods and windy side trails. You can get down to the river beach but be careful with kids!!!

Little parking but big on views, valleys and trails. It's a nice walk through the woods on a bit of a muddy trail at first then you connect with an old gravel/pavement homestead road which takes you down to the stream, a short trail from there brings you to amazing views of the high bridge. It's free, dogs are allowed on leashes. I only spent about an hour here but you could easily spend the day.

Trails were dry, nice walk down to river. Some spots elevated but overall easy hike.

A lovely, fairly easy walk to the Arcola High Bridge with several optional branches to make the hike longer. The woods around the path are like a magical high fantasy setting straight out of Disney or The Lord of the Rings. I half expected to see elves but saw a doe and two spotted fawns instead.

Great place for a walk in the woods. St Croix River is not too far of a walk. There are a few good spots for fishing. Hang a hammock by the river. The trails are not paved. Park is somewhat secluded so it's not so crowded.

Yup, 5 stars is rare. This place was a moderate hike to the railroad Bridge.
Some very amazing views for this close to the Mn metro area. The heights of the bluffs & bridge were enough to tickle the stomach.

Amazing wilderness along the river bluff with trails winding down to the river below the Arcola high bridge. In the summer when it's lush and green, the stream looks like a magical fairy land. You can hike up to the bridge, which is dizzingly high once you're up there, but the views are gorgeous. My dog understandably refused to set foot on the bridge.

Hidden gem. Lots to explore, I would love a history lesson about this place.

Fun and scenic place to be. Two things, most of the road is NO parking, and don't walk on the bridge. Citations from the county or railroad police happen all the time, done it.

Another great spot for hiking along the St. Croix River!

Pretty cool spot. About 9/10 of a mile from the street to the shore.
