During our adventure through the vast Northwest and Rockies. Via Amtrak Empire Builder, Coast Starlight and California Zephyr.

Easy, relatively flat trail. Wooded and shaded for long sections with some exposed sections. We started at Sparta and went to the Purple Cow in Bangor and back this trip. Hard packed rock trail that road bikes unless very sensitive can use.

Good bike trail from connecting to LaCrosse and beyond. It could get boring, it's a straight shot with minimal turns and elevation, so bring your headphones for some of entertainment. I saw few bike repair stations, but unsure of their location.

Peaceful ride. This trail is better mananged-kept than the Great River State Trail. The bridges are in better condition. The trail was also freshly mowed along the edges which is a plus. Be prepared as the mosquitoes are horrid between LaCrosse and West Salem in the lowlands. They're also very thick near the West Salem County Park trail access. Trail is somewhat slick in spots with smooth tires when wet.

Beautiful trip but maybe they could clean up the dead and decaying animals on the roadways, so many of them, kind of morbid.

The trails are bye and large easy to ride. For the most part the trails are level and groomed to an extent. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous as you ride through forest and some marshland! You also get an excellent view of the bluffs in the distance! If you have the ability, I would highly recommend biking or walking on these trails, whichever you prefer!

The bike trails truly offer another beautiful view and perspective of areas of Wisconsin we don't normally see just driving our vehicles around. Amazing scenery and old train tunnels to go through... enjoyment and historical all in one excursion!

The trail is crushed limestone/packed dirt- perfect terrain for walking, running or biking.

Love this trail. Did a lot of my marathon training on it, the shade and enough turns keep it mildly interesting while staying flat. There are more interesting trails and places to run but they are usually more tiring and more crowded.

Well-maintained (better be; trail pass jumped from $2 to $5. A fine of $500 if you don't have a pass!) Still, well worth the price. Saw several ducks & geese; hawks; small water snakes; beaver lodges & more

Rode the stretch from Sparta to Bangor and back ( approximately 10 miles each way). Flat enjoyable ride. Trail was well maintained except for a couple of potholes. Saw an Amtrak train and several freight trains go by.
You will pass behind homes, barns and fields. Will also see plenty of wild flowers. Easy stretch if you are looking to get back into shape to lose the pandemic pudge!

Great trail! We parked at Norwalk and went South and enjoyed it for around 8 miles round trip (the trail was closed at the next town over). Fun bridges and tunnels!

I always enjoy riding the La Crosse River State trail on bicycle. As a railfan there are some very nice places to photograph trains in West Salem, Bangor and the Rockland Prairie. I highly recommend it. In the Fall it's also nice to watch the monarchs at the Rockland Prairie.
