Driftless Angler

Being a novice fly angler I called Driftless Angler Fly Shop while planning my trip. They were very helpful with motels, camping and everything else I might need. When I called to schedule a guided trip Jake was able to hooked me up with Alan, a certified casting instructor. When I got to the shop to complete my gear Geri told me NOT to buy some things as I wouldn't need them and explained why. Amazingly honest people. Mat suggested I go to a local fly fishing show the next night to try different rods before buying. I did...and won a premium rod in a raffle. What a blessing.
Geri also marked up a map for me noting places suitable for my skills. I was VERY thankful for the advice and 'community' experienced with everyone affiliated with Driftless Angler Fly Shop and the area in general. You all are great, thank you!!!

I used one of there guilds for the day and learned a lot about how to fish for trout and how to read the creeks. My guild Peter was super knowledgeable and answered all my questions. It was a perfect day of trout fishing. The shop is also very friendly and helpful. If you thinking of fishing in the Driftless region the this is the is the place to start you adventure.

Great shop! With as much or little attention as you want . Great selection of flies for local waters!!
. If you are even considering fly fishing give this place a shot they have a great fly rod setup for a 180.00. Fly fishing is for everyone!!
You do not need to cast 30 or 40 feet to catch trout, I caught fish my very 1 st time out by myself from watching you tube videos.
But if you hire one of their guides they will put you on fish your first day and can make for a much more enjoyable time by showing you all kinds of tips and tricks to help your day go smoothly. While you are out fishing do not be afraid to talk and ask questions to other anglers on the streams I have never talked to anyone that was unfriendly.

Great staff, attentive service. Mat is a super host. The guides who work out of the shop are knowledgeable and friendly. This was the perfect way to discover the driftless!

Great fly shop! Very friendly and helpful, unlike some shop’s out west that are a bit snobby. If you want a “Fish Whisperer”, ask for Pete Cozad!

Stopped in today to get a little advice on what to throw in the area. Got some great help and ended up catching something on every fly they recommended over the course of the day. Absolutely fantastic shop!

A great home base for fly fishing in the area. Pick any direction and drive 20 mins from here and you're on great water. Staff is excellent. If they don't have it, you don't need it.

Jake was a great guide. Booking, confirmation and gear rental were a breeze. Great, fun, informative trip both for a first time angler and an experienced fisherman. We'll be back!

I called ahead to plan a guided day on the rivers. Matt let me know that all the guides were booked but come into the shop and he would help me out. That’s exactly what he did. Gave me the low down on river conditions, picked flies for me, and marked up a map with recommended river sections. Had a great time. It is a beautiful place to fish. Thanks Matt!!!

Great selection of flies and equipment. Exceptional ownership and customer service. Downtown store front location with inviting layout. I'd stop in even if I didn't fly fish. Tip of the hat to the ladies and gentlemen that make this place function the way it does.

Stopped in after a women’s fly fishing clinic. Kevin was in the shop and helped all of us with enthusiasm. He was honest with recommendations and was so encouraging of people getting started in the sport! There was also experienced anglers in the shop, who found what they were looking for and got and gave advice. Atmosphere and selection were top notch, highly recommend this shop!!

Visited Driftless Angler for the first time on recommendation of a friend. Couldn't have been happier. The shop is fantastic with excellent selection of flies for the surrounding waters. Gerri and Matt were so enthusiastic about the local fishing and provided excellent advice and recommendations. Also had booked a guided trip with Peter and could not have been happier. Excellent advice, tips, feedback, and direction. Learned so much while having a great time catching beautiful trout in a beautiful area. Can't wait to come back. Thanks Driftless Angler team!

Updated: Still a fantastic store! Stopped in a a super rainy Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Gentleman working suggested the SA Infinity fly line to me. What a difference it made in my casting ability using an Aetos fly rod! Great suggestion! I've never shot a line like that. Will keep coming back whenever I'm in the Driftless!

Awesome store! Tons of equipment for fly fishing. Caught a nice fish on one of the flys suggested like a half hour later. Everything you need for fly fishing! Prices are a little high, but other than that great store!

Awesome shop! Stopped in for some flies and advice right away before hitting my campground. Owner Geri got me started on all the flies that were hitting, and then provided me with a map of the streams that were producing. Her advice was spot on! Made a second trip there a couple of days later and got to meet owner Mat. he was enthusiastic and helpful also. I will be back there again!

Very knowledgeable staff. Very helpful. Gave us a map and highlighted good places to go. Made some very good suggestions. We enjoyed the rest of our trip and had good success.

I had a great time with guide Kevin during my half day trip last weekend. I’m relatively new to fly fishing, but I now feel much more equipped to have success on my own. Not only will Kevin put you on fish - he’ll provide you with knowledge that will last a lifetime. If you’re looking to learn, catch fish and have great conversation, I would highly recommend him. Went out with Pete yesterday and it was absolutely amazing. He taught two rookies the basics and while it was a little tough to get going, by the end we were casting beautifully and managed to catch a few. Pete was a stellar teacher and patient and his dog teak was the coolest most patient and smart dog ever. What a great experience!!!!

Arrived on my second trip to the Driftless area in January, I visited the Driftless Angler. Matt supplied me knowledge and flies, and thanks to him I had a very successful and enjoyable weekend.

Excellent shop! Super helpful crew. Got new waders, a few flies, and a few other things. My brother did a guided trip with Matt and said he had an awesome time as well

I first heard about this shop when listening to an Orvis fishing podcast. I then checked and the reviews were great and the small streams looked beautiful. I do not live in Wisconsin so I wanted to be sure this would be a great destination. I made a couple of calls to the shop and they were extremely helpful and they set up a trip. My guide turned out to be Matt B. who was excellent. He took my son and I to a couple of streams that were definitely off the beaten path. At every good spot he would clearly explain how to fish it for success. And he was right, as we caught many fish. Most were 9-11 inch with some 14 inch + fish mixed in. Even though he has seen untold thousands of fish caught he was so excited every time a fish hit a fly or when we caught one. The trip could not have been better and I will definitely be planning a return trip.
