An absolutely stunning bookstore with rare and antiquarian books as well as a huge selection of various used books from an eclectic assortment of genres. Comfortable, cozy, clean, and well appointed shop.

The owner is a lovely soul that is delightful to talk to and to work with. She was very helpful and kind

I look forward to visiting again the next time I'm in Providence.

Bookstores are like catnip to me, and Paper Nautilus might very well be my favorite bookstore. Their selection is top notch, and the prices are really incredible for what they offer. The curation of titles they have will surprise you, and all of their books are in excellent condition. No writing on the inside - it's amazing what they're able to offer and at such a generous price point.

This was a fantastic used books bookstore to explore. Excellent, varied selection, including foreign language books and some albums. My friends and I had fun reading from old books and discovering new ones, and were not rushed as we sat and perused some of them.

A small book shop with a small selection of antique trinkets and finds. It’s a really nice spot to be with two parking spots out front. Cafes within walking distance. A good place to stop and peruse.

This bookstore is absolutely great! Last year I was looking for a unique book for my niece for her birthday - she loves reading books - and found two books and one for me. She enjoys art and music. I bought a book on psychology for myself. The salesperson was really nice. Scarlett loved her gifts, two books about art and an art set of palette, canvas, brushes and colors for her to use.

Gorgeous book store that is always full of new and wonderful things: books, antiques, artwork. I always find something here, whether it be a book on my to find list or something i had never heard of before. The woman who runs the store always has great suggestions for me based on some of the other books I have bought there. Providence is lucky to have such a wonderful resource as Paper Nautilus.

I love all the books here, such an incredible selection, and so many categories / shelves dedicated to exciting, interesting and unexpected subjects. I loved looking through books of bird illustrations, vintage basketball photo books, obscure cookbooks and all of the postcards and maps. This is a great place to find a specific and personalized gift. I can’t wait to visit again.

I can’t believe how many years I’ve been in Providence without discovering this bookstore. When you first go in, it looks small, but they have quite a bit of inventory. And there is a downstairs. I found some excellent books and will certainly go back.

This bookstore is one of my favorite places in Providence. A lot of the reviews I've read here are outdated and irrelevant, so please don't let them dissuade you. I've found so many hidden gems here, which is a testament to how well curated the collection is. There are 3 parking spots right out front and if they're occupied, I've been able to find free parking around Wayland Square without fail. When I need to get away for a while, this is the first place I think of. Please wear a mask.

I’m never disappointed while shopping here! I always leave with at least 4 or 5 books. Their selection is vast, well organized and very clean. They take books in trade on occasion as well and offer a more than fair price.

I’m not sure why there are a couple of bad reviews here about the “pretentious” staff. People are probably just projecting their own issues. I’ve never had any issue with the owner or employees.

While the other notable used book stores in Providence are great; Paper Nautilus has the edge!

An incredible selection of books. Or at least the poetry selection is filled with surprises and finds. It's like going to that one really cool used book store in your town pre-Borders / Barnes & Noble. The time when you would go to a book store and browse books and trust that this book seller was in the book selling business because they read books, and they want to pass that on to other readers.

What can you say. By far the best used book store I have ever been to. Amazing selection, clean organized, quiet, and legitimately priced. I have never left there without something in my bag, and I've always felt like I've gotten an amazing deal. Can't wait for the new location to open!

Paper Nautilus is a beautifully curated and meticulously organized pre-loved bookstore. Truly interesting and uncommon selection of books, prints, maps and select novelties. Great location in Whalen Square. This was my first visit and I look forward to many more.

This store has a great selection and solid prices for that part of the country. However If you're the sort of customer that needs the staff to fall all over you and hang on your every word, go to TGI Fridays. Both staff members I've seen are knowledgeable and nice enough when you take your time to get to know them.
The store is laid out in a rational manner, clean, the books are organized. I go to this store everytime I go to Providence. I wish the science fiction selection were better, but other than that the selection is unimpeachable. The cards made from old paperback covers are pretty cool.

Paper Nautilus is wonderful! I think used bookstores like this one do us all a great service. I would not like to live in a city that only had Barnes and Noble -type stores.

I love to browse in Paper Nautilus, and have found books there that I would not have found elsewhere. Also, they have very cool art on the walls!

IMO this is New England’s Best selection of reasonably priced, high-quality, collectible, books, 1st editions, etc - owner is highly educated, knows her books, chooses carefully, and has connections with local educators, all makes for an excellent collection! Used to drive from Boston to visit this shop - Now just make a point to stop by when up from FL .. Don’t Miss!
