Delicious home cooked meals.
I had the roast leg of lamb, mashed potatoes with peas and corn. Chicken rice soup, bread on side with a cola. It was a good time talking with a friend.

I get a luncheon portion for dinner and can barely finish it. If you get the dinner portion, you're guaranteed to take about half of it home with you, which will make your doggy happy.
The fish and chips is among the best in the Merrimack Valley too.

I first went to the A1 when I was 15 years old back in 1985! Anybody? Who's anybody knows the A1 and the absolutely wonderful food! The very same people are still there, unbelievable! Thanks for the memories and the delicious food!

A-1 Deli has been my favorite spot to eat since moving to Haverhill two years ago. The guys behind the counter are a riot and Paula is an absolute delight. I’ve explored the menu and I’ve never been let down. The food is always fresh and delicious. Definitely recommend to anyone who hasn’t been. If I could give 10 stars I would.

Best home cooked meals on the menu !!! I love the food here and the staff are very attentive and sweet! Thank you for the many years of good eats! I finished college in Haverhill and moved out the area but always come back to visit and grab a plate !!

This is not the place to go if you're looking for fancy or table service it's more like a cafeteria. But if you want well-prepared hearty food at a reasonable price you will not go wrong here. While I don't go here often I have been going here for 40 years and never been disappointed.

It's a cafeteria style place with a lot of different options. Zero pretensions, clean, a nice staff and not expensive.

This is my go to place several times a week, the leg of lamb dinner, the chicken Florentine, the American chop suey, fish chowda & by far the best beef stew I've ever had!!! You have to give this place a shot, it will never disappoint!!!

Sometimes in life you just get lucky. After pulling of the interstate for gas we googled lunch me. A-1 Deli was a delightful experience. Wonderful food, maybe too large of portions and an amazing staff. I'll go out of my way too stop back Everytime I'm in the area. Heads up. They close the first two weeks off July.

My mother's family was from Haverhill. We paid a visit to the children of Israel cemetery on a typically cold and dank New England January day. Afterwards, we needed lunch and decided to go to the A1 deli for the first time. We felt that we have been teleported back many decades. Not a hipster in sight. Only regular local customers. The owners were gruffly friendly and warm in the classic Massachusetts milltown manner. I ordered a bowl of hot, buttery, thick, homemade seafood chowder with clams and haddock. My wife ordered chicken rice soup. The lunch was wonderful. The next time I'm in the Merrimack Valley, I will drive out of my way to eat here.

I've been coming here for my entire life! The food is amazing, the service great and the prices (albeit a tad bit high) is worth it for the amount of food you get. My go to is the Roast Beef Dinner, the Roast Beef is cooked daily, super tender and good to that perfect medium rare. The mashed potatoes are home made complete with lumps and the gravy is flavorful but not salty. I cannot recommend this place enough to anyone!

Amazing food and great portions!! They've been there a long time now. A true downtown Haverhill classic. I visit everytime I go back home. I hope they never close those doors and hope to forever see the A1 sign stay in downtown. The owners and staff are really good people. Thanks for being a symbol of Haverhill guys!

Excellent Ruben sandwich and the steak fries were perfectly made! Highly recommend this restaurant. I have never been dissatisfied in the years I have been going here. Fast and super friendly
