Drifting Sands Oceanfront Hotel

The hotel was very great! The room was clean, the beds were comfortable. The balcony room had a nice view of the ocean and the walk to the beach was as short as can be. The location is great for the beach and for food and shopping. Check in and check out were a breeze and the staff was kind. We will definitely stay here again and look forward to it as well!

We had a great one night stay at Drifting Sands. The rooms were clean and spacious, and we were overjoyed to be able to bring our labrador with us, and with the warm reception she got when we got there. The staff was friendly and responsive and we definitely will be returning. The only blip is the location-right at the causeway, but there are a lot of stores and restaurants in easy walking distance, and the ocean front view can't be beat.

The room was great. The view of the beach and ocean was perfect. Check in was quick and easy. Every employee we encountered was very pleasant and helpful. The room was warmer than we expected but that was because the nights are still cooler than summer so the heater is always on. It was a great get-away.

The staff, the location, the accomodations...& the beach! Excellent combination for success!

Two restaurants we went to upon recommendation from staff were also great: Black Whale & Rare!

Speakeasy pizza was also great!

Beautiful rooms with an amazing view of the ocean, staff was exceptionally kind and worked with us to have a room ready early so we could get ready for a wedding that day. Amazing place ran by amazing people. 10/10 would recommend.

Stayed at Drifting Sands this past weekend. What a great find. I stayed for a 2024 planning retreat…had a perfect view of the ocean, sunrise, etc. the staff at the front office were welcoming and very friendly. Will definitely book again.

Many better places to stay at LBI…rooms were not clean , sheets smelled horribly of smoke I couldn’t sleep just kept smelling cigarette smoke. Air conditioner was smelly and loud just awful! Didn’t even want to see the filter if any or I would have walked out for good!!! The decking and stairs to the second floor was extremely rotten and scary to walk on! I have to think this is not up to code if anyone really checks this place out! It needs major overhaul before someone gets hurt! An overall dirty place! 😪👎 the air conditioner was dirty never cleaned. The lock on the door is broken. The window was broken. It’s a very poorly run annex to your hotel shouldn’t even be in use if I called town I’m sure that would be closed for the balconies condition, and the stairs are no way up to code!

Lovely place. You will get your exercise going up and down the stairs, no elevator. Lovely balconies. Refrigerator and microwave so you can eat you own food and save $$ . It would be SO NICE to have bathrooms along the beach.

We had a great stay at Drifting sands, our air conditioner was not working, we let the front desk know they sent maintenance over right away. He was so nice, long story shot the new a/c they brought over was not compatible with the outlet. He talked to the front desk and they upgraded our room. Special thank you to him I didn’t get his name. He recommended a great restaurant and was just all around kind ! Something you don’t see too much nowadays. Thank you again for making it a great stay ! We will definitely be back

Great place...read the reviews before coming down and wasn't sure what to expect 60/40 but boy was I surprised, not by the place but by the staff...never seen a nicer, politer, group of people. I would return in a heart beat. Rooms clean but beach worn as expected. If you have ever stayed anywhere on the NJ coast or NE in these old beach towns (30 yrs of the NJ shore) you know what to expect. As I arrived I got to see their staff polite handle a customer complaint ?(trying to get a free room bc someone banged on their door at midnight..like they have control of that) by the way the place is well lit and you can see anywhere on the walk ways. The front desk area is nice and has a few amenities incase your thirsty or hunger...and finally they supplied beach tags, beach chairs, umbrellas and beach towels.

The only problem was that we had one service dog and one thypry dog and they put us on second floor could have usef frist floor

I don't understand some of the comments about this place, if you're looking for a five-star hotel spend twice as much and go to hotel lbi. For the price this place is great, it's on the beach, the air conditioning is cold, the room is clean, and the hot water is hot. Also comes with a fridge and microwave. My wife and I are in our forties and wanted to get away from the kids for a couple nights and this place fit our needs perfectly, plenty of parking walk to the beach walk to restaurants Etc. We will be back in the future.

Great location to spend a beautiful sunny day at the Beach! Rooms could use some touch ups as the paint on the bathroom molding is falling off. Nice staff.

Beware!!! The rooms are getting pretty dated and not worth the cost and after staying at this location for the 4th time and always having a decent experience 5 days after my stay an email was sent to me and stated I was being charged $250 because other people staying there said we were smoking on the balcony witch never happened if it did I would totally be fine paying that so watch out for extra charges 5 days after checkout.. definitely my last stay

Perfect! The staff is outstanding. The location is best you can get. Beautiful views. Dog friendly. Super clean and comfortable. This is an awesome property. Highly recommend it. Will be staying there whenever we go to LBI.

We met Bonnie at the front desk who greeted us with a very friendly welcome. Super helpful and just a nice person to talk to. We stayed in one of the refurnished ocean front rooms and it was perfect. Clean, great view, and bedding was very comfortable. The hotel's location is nice because you're within walking distance to restaurants and it's right on the beach. Thanks to the entire staff at the Drifting Sands for a fun and memorable vacation!

Rooms were older and not as updated as the photos show but that is to be expected because it is expected that photos look better. I saw a lot of people complaining about cleaning so I was worried. There are signs posted all over the front desk about needing to request service if you want it so they clearly didnt pay attention to the signs or the whole spiel that the desk agent goes through letting you know to do so. I got clean towels and my room serviced on the days I requested it easily. Front Desk was great, housekeeping was great, and the location was great. Would come back again.
