La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Overland Park

The staff in the front desk during the day is some of the most professional I have had the pleasure too run across . The management was knowledgeable and took the extra time to help me with logistical mattes!I was unfortunate enough to have very serious medical crisis while on my vacation which included an extended hospital stay for my wife. The nighttime staffing was very understanding and helpful and I would especially like to thank the young lady that sits front desk overnight without her wonderful explanation of how an app called uber works I would not have been able to navigate those services I have only given this hotel five stars because I could not find the sixth one! If you find yourself in overland Park Kansas and you need lodging this is in my opinion the best choice You could make.

I have never gotten to stay at a hotel like this, and I have to say, it’s worth the money! They are remodeling the rooms and the upstages are amazing. It’s very spacious, clean and comfortable. While the rest of the hotel is still undergoing some construction, they really have tried their best to make the rooms nice first.

But really, I’m writing this to give a huge shout out to Cherokee, one of the ladies that works the front desk if this hotel, because she’s a rockstar and deserves the credit!

I checked in on July 3, only intending on a single night stay, and she was at the desk when I arrived. She had just gotten off the phone after dealing with an ongoing stressful situation with a third party booking site and maintained kindness and professionalism with me when I asked if she had any rooms available. I know how those calls can go as I used to work the front desk of a hotel, and she didn’t take any of that out on her guests, she was very friendly and helpful. After checking out the morning of the 4th, I drove across the freeway and was hit turning left, making my vehicle impossible to drive back home, as I live 8 hours away in Texas. We had just left the hotel maybe a few minutes prior at about 10:30, and due to the accident, I called her to see if we could get back into a room. Even though it was just after check out time, she got me into a room with no early check in fee at the same rate from the previous night, even though the new room had a balcony. She talked to me about hospitals to go to and lawyers to call because we are just visiting and don’t know the area. She showed genuine concern for us after the accident and talked to me for almost 30 minutes with no sign of being annoyed at all, even with piles of laundry to do!

With what I’ve had happen today, a Sunday and a holiday no less, I can’t begin to explain how much I appreciate Cherokee! Thank you for being so nice and understanding, you are a true asset to this hotel and you deserve a raise! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Just an FYI to all of those complaining about this hotel.
1st of all if you do your research, you will see that it is state-regulated that no hotel in most of the U.S. has smoking rooms.
The only place you will find a smoking room is a motel, and let me tell you. Most motels are now run-down, bedbug-infested, with horrible staff that has horrible customer service.
and yes, there is a difference between a Motel and a Hotel, (look it up).
2nd, if you were to do your research before booking the hotel, you would see that the pool is outdoors, and seasonal.
There is no advertisement for a Hot Tub. So why get all bitter about that?
Yes, this hotel has been undergoing a renovation for quite some time. But anyone with common knowledge on construction and rehabbing, or who have even watched those shows about house flipping or hotel impossible, etc... Will know that things do sometimes go wrong.
This is an old hotel and the previous owner DID NOT take care of it what so ever. So I'm sorry you all are not understanding that they just want it to be perfect, and not miss anything so that their guests will be happy and more comfortable in the long run. The staff does their absolute best to accommodate accordingly. They want this to be completed just as bad as you all do. But... Just remember that when you go to check-in.
IT IS NOT THE FRONT DESK'S FAULT!!!!
They have nothing to do with the progress of the renovation. Neither does Management. So do us all a favor and just be courteous of the staff. They want it done as bad as you all do, if not more.

This is the second time we have stayed here. They are pet friendly, and sweet, sweet people. Our amazing check in girl Cherokee is amazing and wonderful. Great rooms, spacious...we will be staying here again. Would recommend staying here..

Great value. Clean facilities currently under remodel, but the new additions will make it even better. Absolutely great front desk service. Friendly, kind and QUICK to serve. Large suites suitable for families. Breakfast was GREAT and we were greater by a wonderful staff member serving. Great stay. We will stay again!

The rooms are reasonably priced and very clean. Beds are very comfortable. Vents in the air conditioning units were disgustingly dirty, but the quality of the rooms and of the staff allowed me to over look this. Breakfast very standard for a hotel but still very good.

Good place to stay. It caters to business travelers, but they were equally welcoming of me and my two cats. We were driving cross country and it was great to fine a reasonably priced, clean, and convenient place to stay. Small detail, but I liked that they had Chobani yoghurt for breakfast. Also good coffee.

Excellent experience. Cheyenne was on duty when we checked in. She was very efficient and friendly. The bed was great and the breakfast better than most free motel breakfasts. We will definitely stay here again as we pass through to visit family.

Came in for our 6th wedding anniversary and it has been wonderful! Starting with Tasha at the front desk to the lady making breakfast, this has been the sweetest staff! That with the super comfy and clean room have made this an amazingly relaxing vacation. 💞

Personally I had a good experience here. Helpful and courteous staff. Room was clean and nice. The Internet worked well for me. The rate was great compared to other places. Good hotel if you just need a basic place to rest with a fair price.

The nicest front desk I've ever met here Kym is a very nice young lady. The letter she gave my son was beyond customer service. the room we stayed in was comfortable as well.

This place was pretty good. Breakfast area is nice. The only issue is that the room was small, and the beds are not a big size. Other than that I did not have any other concerns with it.

You was clean they had Bluetooth mirrors in the bathrooms where you can listen to your music take pictures and stuff who does that floors will clean the beds with clean that rooms with spaces are microwaves and refrigerators in their everything was good!

Staff were great, friendly and helpful. Couldn't ask for more. They were under renovation but but things were still nice. Room was very clean and the morning breakfast was a absolutely great.

ATF for sure! Very personable and friendly staff, reasonable rates and great breakfast. Fast check in and knowledgeable and responsive to any issues or questions. They're under construction right now but it's turning out to be a beautiful remodel.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There were plenty of options for breakfast. I look forward to returning!

decided on a last minute trip to KC and didn't want another nightmare hotel stay so went back to La Quinta. other than the original room we got was locked from the inside, they quickly switched us and brought us extra blankets even! we'll definitely be back!

The stay was great and reasonable. Pets stay free which was a plus for us. In addition to that you couldn't even tell that pets were allowed there. Another plus!! No odor or anything! Also the staff was very polite

Perfect hotel for what we needed. The pool was great, enclosed on all sides by the hotel, shaded by tall trees. Within 25 minutes of everything we wanted to do. Friendly staff & the breakfast wasn't bad.

The Front Desk and Owners are Great with their customers. Happy workers in the morning tells your guest . The food chain. Thank u.
