El Loro

It was as busy as can be when I got here just before 1pm. The servers were absolutely on top of it. A fee big parties, and a full house. As busy as they were my server was great! I had Carne asada street tacos, rice, and beans, and 2 margaritas. I ordered an 1800 quervo margarita. Best I've had in Iowa by far!! Thank you so very much! I'll br back with friends!!

I'm traveling through on my way to Florida and I'm glad I stopped at this establishment to eat dinner!I had the shrimp fajitas they were mucho gusto! I found out that this particular restaurant is owned by the same people that have El Loro in the Twin Cities Minneapolis-Saint Paul Minnesota. My wait person Sarah was very friendly and very knowledgeable! If you're ever in Mason City, Clear Lake Iowa be sure you stop in and say hi for me you'll love it!

Wow what can I say other than my god that was awesome! I’m an OTR truck driver and I’ve eaten at Mexican restaurants all over the country from the top of Maine to the border of Mexico down in California and I have to admit this is one of my favorites now! Too bad there’s not a lot of freight here…

This place has really good food. The service was very good the food was fast and tasty.

This place was delicious. My wife had the Fajitas Tropical, I had the Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos, and our 2 year old had a taco. We started off our meal with chips -n- salsa and quickly added some Queso Dip. The salsa was tangy, bright and refreshing while the Queso Dip was savory and creamy with a hint of spiciness. Also, they use a quality chip.
First, the Fajitas Tropical was what my wife ordered. I tasted it and I thought it was good. I could definitely taste the pineapple in the dish. I did think that it could have been warmer and more flavorful, but it wasn’t bad. My fish tacos, however...Wow! Each taco is about a 3-biter and I really recommend the Salsa Más Picante (super spicy salsa) to put on top. My plate was complete with 3 tacos and lime slices for squeezing. Do yourself a favor, squeeze the lime onto your taco.
The Fried Ice Cream dessert was basic, but good. I personally love hard-packed and hard-frozen ice cream and this dessert delivered the goods.
I did not use the restroom facilities, so I am unable to report about those. The wait staff were both friendly and timely. I barely had my lemonade gone when they were bringing another.
So, here’s the breakdown: The taste of my meal was phenomenal, a 10/10. The cleanliness of the restaurant was great, a 10/10. Finally, the value of the food vs. cost. I thought that the fajitas were a little pricey so I am going to give the experience an 8/10. Therefore, that’s a 28/30 = 93.33% = A.
I would definitely return and plan to do so soon.

Wow. Seriously, incredible. No kidding! I’m from Montreal Canada, passing thru, I have put a take out order for enchiladas verdes or rojas, $15 for a reaaally big plate that comes with tortillas chips and guacamole lettuce tomatoes and sauces. Soo cheap and soooo tasty. I definitely recommend!!! Thank you 🙏

Great place, amazing food. 1 of the only places not on the west coast u can get some halfway decent chilequilles

I really love this place because it has great plus great drinks and an awesome staff. These are the best small businesses that we need to support or the only thing we we have left is McDonald's. I do love farms but I don't approve of what McDonald's has done to farms in general.
This is the type of small business that actually works for your approval.

Stopped on the way to MN. Decided to give it a try. Looked not great from the outside. But inside was nice. Food amazing. Service good. Definitely will stop again if passing through.

The food is actually very good. I have not had a meal that was bad. It is fresh and tasty. Highly reccomend going here. Excellent bar as well

I came to Clear Lake with stories about how this place had negative qualities which included the following: slow service; average food; and subpar environment. Our group of 12 shows up on a Friday night and we received service few could dream of. This was on top of food that was better than expected. I’m not a big leftover guy but I regret NOT taking leftovers home. I was rummaging through hotel fridges of those who had leftovers in order to get one more taste of what happened in that kitchen. Tonight we came back for round 2 so that I could bring some deliciousness back home. Thank you El Loro.

The large house margarita was and is DELICIOUS! So big and so tasty! Very nice atmosphere. The nachos platter is amazing!

First time at El Loro and hot damn I will be going back to eat there again.. the food was absolutely awesome.. the little restaurant doesn't give an idea to how big the tastes are.. don't forget to have the fried ice cream afterwards it's so good

It was really good. Great service (had multiple staff make sure we didn't need anything) and delicious food. Fiesta Burrito and Combination #1. Loved that salsa and nacho cheese had a little bit of heat. Not over bearing. Would definitely come here again.

Was traveling from Wisconsin to see family....I stopped to eat the food was delicious and the staff was very friendly I felt at home.

We had the steak fajitas and they were great! Came out sizzling and fresh. Generous portions as well! Salsa was thin but flavorful. Queso was fabulous

Just stopped in on a roadtrip but really enjoyed the food. All the regular Mexican selections along with some neat specialities like molcajete

Clear Lake exit off I-35 is a natural lunch stop on our way to the Twin Cities. We used to always go to Wendy's, but since they closed we thought we'd try the El Loro Mexican restaurant. We were not disappointed. The interior is charming and clean. My husband got his favorite chorro pollo , and I ordered the quesidilla fajita from the lunch menu. The food was delicious and portion good-sized. I actually took half of mine with me for lunch tomorrow. I hope the restaurant stays in business, as it will be our go-to lunch stop from now on.
