Tavern 42 Burgers, Brew and Que

We have had several good experiences while dining at Tavern 42. The service is always friendly and quick to check in once you are seated. The kitchen is usually pretty quick, even during busy hours. Prices are reasonable for the area, and the selection of food is good. The brownie sundae is worth the trip alone, but make sure others have full bellies before ordering yours! Good selection of brews and a bar to sit and drink, or eat if you are so inclined.

This place is a must if you’re in the area! And even if you’re not, jump in your car and get over here! Absolutely tasty with everything we tried. I had the Doc’s cider (super refreshing!), the fried pickles (unlike any other you’ve ever had - top notch), and the tuna tacos (the tacos you didn’t know you needed in your life). Being from NC, BBQ is something that’s simply on the constant dinner/lunch menu at home. Even though I didn’t order it, the bartender (so sweet!) brought out a small plate for us to try -complimentary. The burnt ends are soo good and filling!!

I will definitely be adding this to my “must eat” list for future visits. Thanks for a great time in a super pretty setting!

We visited just after happy hour on a Monday night. Not too busy so we received a lot of attention from the most excellent waitress, Haley. Staff uniforms were plaid shirts and jeans so we did not feel underdressed. Live trivia contest was setting up but we thought we would be gone long before it started. Wrong. We had such a great time trying different foods and drinks in a very relaxed and attentive atmosphere that we stayed and ended up playing the entire game.

We asked to sit by the fireplace in the bar area as it appeared cozy. The tables were tall with high chairs but not uncomfortable. Seasoned popcorn was immediately offered as we perused the drink and food menus. Haley was quite patient answering all of our questions and offered helpful suggestions as we struggled to narrow our choices. Ultimately we settled on fresh seared tuna tacos and the signature bourbon burger. Halfway into the first bite of the burger it became obvious why wet wipes were provided at the tables. Juicy, delicious, no ketchup required. The tuna was fresh and lightly seared to make one of the best fish tacos I have ever had.

The bar had an interesting open ceiling which, I was told, went up to the second floor banquet areas. Next to a small in-wall fireplace was an impressive selection of bourbons. Not only were local craft beers on tap but there were wines on tap as well. Many of the house cocktails were so creative and unique (seriously, try the Dance of the Monkey Princess, but don't eat the monkey, it's plastic) that I have no other choice than to keep returning until I have tried them all.

Good beer list, friendly staff, and the food was excellent. Tried the Espresso rubbed brisket(smoked in house), fried pickles(not a drop of soggy breading and great seasoning), chicken fingers(breaded with Captain crunch and corn flakes), and tater tots(house mashed potatoes rolled with other ingredients and flash fried). Cleanest fried food I have had in ages. Will definitely be back!

Atmosphere is comfortable. Wait staff and cooks are friendly and professional. The food is sensational and savory. All in all its a great place for date night or even family night. Very casual and inviting.

My experience was great. I know during COVID times are challenging to the restaurant industry. They were COVID "ready". We were seated promptly when we arrived. We had the Asian Cauliflower as an app and it was wonderful. For our meals it was the Mac & Cheese and Ribeye. Both were hot when arrived to our table. Tasted great. We also had a couple cocktails and they were fabulous as well. At least during our visit the service we great. Our waitress came over several times to ensure our food and drinks were to our liking. We will definitely going back

Good service, good food. Gets crazy busy on weekends but is fast and easy during the week

I had lunch here the other day. Leslie B was my server and she was fantastic very nice and really attentive. I had the chicken sandwich with fries. The sandwich was great and the fries were shoe string which are my favorite, really crispy. Great pickle!! Would recommend this to all ages and a mid range budget.

The food was great, our waitress Alexa was incredible! The appetizer and entrees were brought out quickly and everything was hot! The only issue we found was the parking situation can be quite challenging on a Friday night, so be prepared to circle the parking lot a few times! All in all, a great visit!

Very good menu, good prices, nice atmosphere

Went for a cousin's get together for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Everything was perfect, from the lovely bartender who waited on our table (wish I remembered her name), to the lunch specials and happy hour cocktails. We will definitely be back!
**Update- Back again. Sat on the patio. Great service again. This time with Kaitlyn. Found out our waitress from last visit was Danielle! Found our new favorite place!!

Food was amazing. Atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable.
All in all the place was great. Air was a comfortable temperature for dining. There were plenty of tv's to keep your attention for when your date goes to the bathroom but they didn't take over the experience. The menue size was also perfect. What I appreciated most was the quality and amount of food. High quality, large amounts and great price.
Only thing to complain about is the popcorn they serve had a spicy BBQ seasoning on it and we got that b4 our drinks.

Great atmosphere, service, and food. I had a difficult time deciding what to eat because it all sounded good. All five of us were very happy with our meals. We can't wait to return.

My Fiance is addicted to their Mac and Cheese no joke! We have been here once a week for the past month because of their Mac and Cheese. I love their No meat please burger. Tonight I had the Pit Smoked Pork. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food!!!

Great burgers, awesome beer selection. Attentive staff. The event space is amazing, full bar, big private room. They also have a smaller room for more intimate events, you can basically create your own menu. I

Our first visit to this place, and we loved it! We both got BBQ brisket, mine in a sandwich with fries and hers just on a plate with some sides. The BBQ was very very good, and we're from TX, where BBQ is ubiquitous.

Our appetizer was tuna tartare, I think, and it was also tasty. We got a desert of cornbread cake with seared apples, whipped cream and ice cream. Sounds odd, or at least it did to me, but it was amazing. Sitting at the bar we also got popcorn to snack on.

The only downside for me, and I obviously didn't subtract from the score because of it, was the constant country music. I thought I'd left that stuff in TX. Ha ha

My family had the pleasure of celebrating mine and my wife’s birthday here tonight along with a reveal of an addition to our family. We stopped in and the manager was extremely accommodating and one of the nicest people we’ve ever met, I felt like we’ve known her forever lol we started with some calamari apps and nachos with pork which were amazing down to the last bite.. most of us ordered sodas but I had a Long Island and it was one of the best I’ve had in a while.. then for our main course most of us ordered lobster ravioli, Mac and cheese, prime rib and a few other dishes. This is the first time I’ve ever been to a restaurant and they made every single person in our party of 10 happy. The apps, meals, drinks and environment hit every mark. Thank you for making this night one to remember! This place is a must try. We can’t wait to visit again!
