Royal Manchester Golf Links

Having played a good number of Scottish links I was a little worried what to expect at the Royal Manchester. But i should not have been, I was welcome by a young lad in the pro shop very enthusiastic of the course and its ability to please. The course despite being in Winter Season mode was excellent, fairways cut and tidy, first rough light and playable, the bigger rough cut back for winter and the greens despite only being treated with sand a number of weeks ago, were fast, firm and playable. I will definitely be back in the summer I hope.

Royal Manchester has some of the best greens in central Pennsylvania region! True, fast and challenging are some of the few adjectives used to describe the greens. The course layout is enjoyable, an above average challenge to the average golfer. The practice facility is unlike any other in the area. The club house makes this a complete golf facility, the BEST in central Pennsylvania, a must play!

Quality golf course in the Harrisburg area. Was looking forward to a business trip and the chance to try this linksy style course and it did not disappoint. More challenging that I anticipated, but that’s a welcome occurrence when hitting a course for the first time. If you could play it a few more times and really learn course management and shot placement, I think it would be a great “home course.” Fairways were in good shape and the greens really rolled true (very impressed with green conditions). Overall, definitely a solid course at this price point.

Beautiful course with picturesque views. Biggest challenge is the tall rough that will punish most errant shots. If you’re a controlled player, this course is great fun. Great price for noon tee time.
Smash burger was way better than expected. Would play again.

Top notch links style golf course! Keep the ball on the fairway or May end up losing a few balls. Challenging yet a really fun course.

Played yesterday. All 3 partners new to the course and they praised it highly.

My last post noted how nice the course and people are but also said that I prefer to play before the rescue gets too high.

Doubt it was my influence 😉 but they’ve strategically cut back some of the high grass to make the game a bit less challenging but still not easy and still quite interesting. Thanks!

Royal Manchester is one of the best public courses in Central PA. I've played it twice in the last month and the course is in great shape. This is a healthy, well maintained and affordable golf course. Highly recommended...

First time playing a links course and what an experience. I'm not by any means a "good" golfer but that course was humbling. On a day where I was allergic to playing from the fairway, I got plenty of practice hitting (and finding) balls in and out of the hay field. But man was it fun. It is a beautiful, challenging course with undulating hills and greens; a perfect blend of right and left doglegs. Unfortunately we did not get to finish due to darkness and play what looked to be the best hole on the course, #18. That was the only blight on an otherwise great day of golf, regardless of what the scorecard said.

This place is awesome. The golf course is spectacular. If u enjoy links golf you will definitely need to play here. We drove 2 hours from New Jersey on Sunday and we all agreed we would be back.

Lots of courses call themselves links style but this one is definitely among the “linksiest” courses in the USA. We loved it!

PAUL IS AWESOME!!!!!

I travel for work and like to play courses anywhere I go. Was recommended this course by a local sports shop.

So my partner and I drove over for a walk on tee time. Upon entering the pro shop we were greeted by an employee named Paul. We don’t travel with clubs and needed to rent some. We we informed they don’t currently do club Rentals but will offer rentals later this year.

Of corse we were bummed out because the course looked so good. But Paul offered us to borrow his personal clubs at no cost. Of course we said yes. He said they were his clubs since high school. Better shape than most club rentals I’ve ever had.

Very appreciative of Paul and his amazing customer service.had a great time playing at this course! Hope to come back and play again soon!

Not going to beat around the bush, this course is tough. Not for beginner golfers regardless of what tee boxes you play. If you can't keep your ball in the fairway make sure bring at least a dozen balls. The fescue is killer and why it takes so long to play a round here. (biggest complaint I read online) With that being said, the place is always in good shape. Greens were pure despite recent aeration, really couldn't tell I had a blast. Can't wait to be back.
My only negative was no starter, ranger, or cart girl for a sunny Saturday in September?

This course is a true hidden gem. Not only a top notch course, it is also one of the best deals around. Every bit as nice as the Links at Gettysburg, which was just voted the 7th best course in Pennsylvania by GolfWeek Magazine. Its actually in much better condition than the Gettysburg Links this year.. By far and away their greens are in the best shape of any public course (and probably alot of private too)within 150 miles in any direction. Hats off to their Superintendent and Grounds Staff!!! They have handled this month + long draught (early in the 2023 season) amazingly well.

Played here for the first time this past weekend and Royal Manchester quickly became one of my all-time favorite courses. Absolutely gorgeous links style round with immaculate conditions. Friendly lay out that makes you think but won't kill ya so can take any skill level here. Practice facilities were some of the best I've ever been around. Nothing but great things to say!

First time on this course. Great layout. Tee boxes, traps and fairways were in excellent condition. Greens had just been aerated so they were a bit bumpy. Pace of play was good. So far, the best public course in the York area. Can’t wait to go back!
