Fantastic store! Amazing collection of everything from muzzleloaders to shotguns to lever actions to specialty caliber ammo; a lot more than you'd expect from a smaller shop. Prices are good, there's always (and I do mean always!) something of interest for me here. And they are great, friendly people - incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Well worth going out of my way to visit.

I have a high-grade antique shotgun that a well-known gunsmith in the area did not have the know-how to fix. They recommended Herold's Gun Shoppe for their experience and quality--and sure enough, less than a week later I had my shotgun 100% fixed and ready to go. Never had a problem since. Friendly communication with both him and his wife, prompt service, integrity and you get the sense that they really love what they do.

It's my family business

As many of us are aware that ammunition is in short supply during these times. The pandemic inflated prices and that's even if you can find ammo and I stumbled acrossed this place while passing it while I was working. I stopped in and I have been going there ever since. Very friendly people. George and his wife Denise Herold are your typical hometown friendly and helpful people . Will take care of any rifle or long gun needs you may have or just stop by and pick up handgun ammo. He also has handguns for sale as well. More so in the rifle territory . It is stores like this that we do not want to have disappear. This is what makes America great.

Had a trigger job done to my Savage Axis. When I went to the range the gun would fire without pressing the trigger, which is totally unaccepatable when taking a rifle to a professional gunsmith! Took the rifle back and Herold supposely fixed it. Took it back to the range before hunting season and when I would chamber a round the gun would fire without pressig the tigger, extreamely unsafe, dangerous, and very unprofessional. When I took it back I expected a safe and reliable firearm. What I got back was nothign of the sorts.
I called him up and asked for a refund and explained I did not feel safe with him working on my firearm again for the 3rd time, due to the fact I had accidental discahrges after he supposley fixed the problem. He never returned my call.

I Took my firearm to Hafers Gunsmithing and they fixed the existing problem and shoots 100% everytime now!

Had trigger work done on a savage and needless to say when I chambered a round the rifle went off and was inches away from certain disaster!!!! Brought the rifle back, he swore he fixed the problem....which he did not. How could I trust the work of man that said he fixed the problem which he clearly did not. Had to take the rifle to another smith. Bottom line, never use this man for tigger work, unsafe work!
