Abe's Delicatessen

Abe's is a downtown Scranton, must visit, classic. There is no place where they treat you nicer! The food is fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the turkey and pastrami Rueben with cucumber and tomato salad. I love their health salad. The restaurant is very cozy as well.

Abolutely top tier deli! The pastrami and corned beef were tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, the knish had an amazing soft and chewy texture without being too dense, and the falafel and quinoa wrap was fresh, zippy, and complex. Highly recommend for both the food and the nostalgic vibes.

Edit: we were in town for two days and loved Abe’s so much we came back a second time!

Great pitstop! On our way down from Toronto, we stopped by Scranton naturally because of The Office. A quick google search revealed this little spot in town. Great customer service and great food. I ordered the pastrami sandwich and was actually given a different sandwich which I’m glad I got. I’m not exactly sure what it was because it didn’t have cheese so I don’t think it was a Reuben. But delicious nonetheless. Would love to stop by here on my next trip down south.

Food is actually kosher which is surprisingly hard to find. Everyone who works there are good, happy, clean people. Restaurant is always clean and comfortable. They are very accommodating just only thing is they don't have any pork products but the substitutes are delicious and worth trying.

I really liked it. Good food and loved the waiter and owner, i think it was the owner working the check out. But it was a nice little spot of good food. But my only problem was that the bacon was beef so there was a hard line of tender meat that was white and hard to eat. But crunchy though. Gonna have to go back.

Abe's Deli reminded me of living in New York with their delicious Meats and well prepped sandwiches, reminiscent of classic NY delis! Their famous rueben was one of the best I've ever tasted, and i cannot wait to go back and have it again! Their turkey & corned beef on rye was delicious. This was all topped off by the great service from the waitress and fast service from the kitchen. Coffee was good and I'll definitely be going back!

I got breakfast before work, scrambled eggs with cheese and rye toast with coffee and cranberry juice. There was only one table and I got it! It’s such a great deal that be prepared for a very busy atmosphere but awesome and thorough service. They’re always so pleasant!

A little advice for anyone planning on opening a deli in Scranton? Dont..

Abe's is litteraly the only game in town when it comes to a deli. And for good reason. The food is amazing. And they make you feel welcome if its your first time there or 50th.

SO delicious a must visit in Scranton!! The sandwiches were delicious and well priced. There is gluten free bread available and it is really good! The menu is expansive and includes many Jewish deli classics, as well as a variety of daily specials. The space is super cute.

First time here..
Wonderful selection of foods, and freshly made, and great service.... We had a vegetable omlette, and blueberry pancakes and chicken salad wrap. Will be back again

We had grilled vegetable & cheese omelet, rye toast, corned beef omelet with onion bagel. Everything was excellent. Many choices of bagels and toast.

Good place for a bite to eat, with fair prices. Nice staff and good vibe.

First time here ! Abe’s pastrami sandwich is very delicious and they have some good goodies as well !! This location is very clean and is easy to find is right on downtown scranton! Friendly staff!!!

One of the few remaining Jewish Delicatessens in the United States. They serve great food and a great price. Friendly service too. They get to know their customers. Scranton is lucky to have them!

I don't know how I lived in this area without eating here before today. I know I won't be able to last long before going back! The food was flawless. Everything was made fresh and it showed. The flavors and aromas were palpable from the moment the door opened. The staff was nice and full of energy. Dessert wasn't part of my plan when sitting down for lunch but I am so glad I had some. The atmosphere was enjoyable and felt like the kind of place I would be happy sitting in all day.

Fresh food made daily. Great prices.The food was amazing I tried the omelet and homefries.

My favorite lunch spot in Scranton, with the best Reuben I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

Very friendly and family oriented atmosphere. First time here. Will certainly return!

We arrived about 30 minutes before they closed. They never rushed us at all. They did ask us to sit in one side of the restaurant as they were cleaning the other.

Then our server, Joy, arrived. She is special. She obviously loves this restaurant and it's food. She shines as she explains some of her favorite dishes.

We both tried the Reubens, based on her description of the house made corned beef, etc. They were amazing. When we asked about diet drink options, we expected the normal Coke or Pepsi. They actually had many. This was great since we are diabetic and it's nice to have choices.

We returned again this week and Joy said she had been thinking about us, since it was Saturday again. We both tried the Greek omelet this time. Again, this was based on her recommendation from last week. The feta and the olives made this omelet so good.

We will definitely try more items on the menu as we return to visit Joy. Because seriously, she makes the whole experience unforgettable. But the food has been great too!

Edit: Sofia and Sal are both amazing as well. It's obvious that everyone here enjoys working here. The service is always great. The food is always great.
