So much to do and explore here! Great place to take kids! It has a story trail, bird shack to feed the birds, plenty of wild life and a very interesting, naturally made playground. With 12 miles to walk all throughout, you will not find yourself bored!

The netsmith center is a regional pride and joy location, named after our world famous local Wildlife photographer. The trails are well maintained and expansive. If you like birding this is a dream of a location, the creek is beautiful, and the building itself is really nice. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and they offer wonderful programs year round but especially during the warmer months. Definitely check out their website for the kids activities and the concerts hosted in their beautiful outdoor venue.

Queen Annika loves visiting the Ned Smith Center. She normally goes every spring and every fall. The trails and the center are top-notch. Highly recommend. Make time to visit for yourself.

Did a Photography 101 school field trip and it was pretty decent since there were plenty of nice things to photograph. The guide was knowledgeable and was great with the kids. The walking bridge is iconic and the trail from the nature center leads up to the Lykens Valley trail. Even though from points east like Harrisburg and the west shore you drive right past the more well-known Boyd's Big Tree preserve, the Ned Smith Center offers more educational programs and is easy access to northern Dauphin and southern Northumberland counties.

Beautiful, quiet nature preserve with well marked trails that range from easy and flat to more intense, rugged trails. All trails are unpaved. Wiconisco Creek runs through the preserve and offers fishing opportunities also. Most of the land is open to public hunting, so during rifle seasons make sure to wear orange when exploring.

There is also an art gallery in the building and an outdoor amphitheater that hosts a variety of shows (of which I've never attended as of yet).

We only went for the hiking trails, this time. Nice, easy, well maintained. Great picnic areas for after the hike.

What a hidden gem!
Got to explore this center and natural playground today with my kids (12,8, 3) as well as see the gallery and walk a trail. Will absolutely be back! Staff was very helpful and passionate, will be back!

Went with a large group to hike the rugged trail. Recommend bringing hiking poles due to steepness coming back down the mountain

Went around noon on Saturday. The website said it was open, but it was closed. Walked around the building which is a very impressive piece of architecture. Straight shot into the building from the parking lot. Ground slopes into a ravine out back where the building has an impressive deck overlooking a small outdoor theater. Small kids area outside to the right. Well kept up outdoor info area with map of extensive hiking trails. We went to see the art gallery, so we will have to try again sometime.

Great spot for a walk or more serious hike in the woods... beautiful hemlock and hardwood forest, wild growth holly, great birdwatching opportunities, and beautiful creekside trails. I come every time I'm up visiting my grandparents

Super place to see. So much to do inside and out. Took my kiddo and dogs for a hike the other day and to my surprise, they added so many new things since I was there last. They put in an awesome play area for the kiddos and the trails are maintained really well. Had a really nice time!

Great venue in the woods of Millersburg. If you like a smaller amphitheater surrounding with a home like feel, look no further. The wife and I had a blast at the Refugees concert last weekend. Thank you Ned Smith center for a great time!
