The Original Spence Cafe

The service was top notch. The owner goes above and beyond to ensure that all of her guests are pleased with their experience. The waiter staff are also very personable and friendly. As for the food, I found my meal last night to be absolutely delicious and so did my fiancée. I had a Shrimp and Scallop St. Jacques which was such an amazing dish and crème brûlée for desert which was wonderful. My fiancée had the Seared Halibut and loved her dinner.

Absolutely amazing dining experience! The Original Spence Cafe is a gem, truly. We loved everything from start to finish – appetizers to dessert. Portions were outstanding. Every dish was cooked and prepared to perfection. One of the best steaks I have had recently, even compared to some of the local steakhouses. The ambiance was beautiful on the back patio. Our server Graham was very attentive and provided excellent service. We can’t wait to return!

Hands down the best restaurant in West Chester by a landslide. Look no further to Spence cafe.

The real hype is that it is BYOB ($5 corkage fee). Most of the restaurants in West Chester want to push marked up bottom shelf drinks/wines and pair it with mediocre food. It takes away from the experience people want when they go out to eat.

Here at Spence cafe since their main focus is preparing quality food, you can enjoy it with your wine of choice.

You have to book a reservation because last minute walk-ins often have to wait or are turned away.

They have a very focused and mastered seasonal menu. Service is amazing, I loved our waiter Chris and pray we get him every time we book reservations. Food came out timely.

We came three times to ensure quality was consistent and it was.

I highly recommend people come check out the restaurant. Our favorite dishes were the steamed clams and braised short ribs.

We accidentally found this place while walking past the restaurant and thought it looked so cozy and romantic. I remember making a mental note to try this place and we’re certainly over the moon with our dinner experience.

Everything we tasted was so delicious! We had the New England clam chowder, Caesar salad, caprese salad, duck two-ways (seared and shredded duck wrapped in crepe), and bistro clam bake.

The quality ingredients, cooking techniques, and flavor were perfection. The caprese salad (the heirloom tomatoes and creamy burrata were to die for) and seared duck were especially memorable. It’s also the prettiest looking clam bake I’ve had ever. The mussels and clams were perfectly cooked.

BYOB, I recommend bringing a nice bottle of your favorite wine to enjoy with the incredible food.

Servers were friendly, attentive, and knowledgable so definitely ask for their recommendation.

Date night with my husband did not disappoint!! First the welcoming smiles from the hostess. To the incredible waitress and staff! The food was so tasteful and serving size perfect! The atmosphere was relaxing and comfortable! Will definitely return!

Really hard to find a high quality BYOB anymore. This is one of them. Food quality is up there with anyone else. The atmosphere is a bit formal but casual enough that is not at all pretentious. Love these kinds of places!

Very quaint restaurant, the staff was great. Our waiter was very friendly and had some good suggestions, and the interior is nice, I guess somewhat modern.

We had the stuffed pepper, the bass, and the calamari, and they were all delicious along with the peanut butter pie and the cheesecake. I’d recommend a night out here for sure.

Clam bake, crab cakes and veal with scallops. Our family had our typical excellent experience at Spence. Everything beyond tasty and great service.

I’ve dined there twice. If it’s not the best restaurant in W Chester, it’s very close. Gina
and Chris were both excellent. The food is fantastic, and the atmosphere is great. Even with a full house, not so loud that you
couldn’t carry on conversations at the table.
Everyone loved their meal (salmon/pastas/short ribs/fillet) and the icecream sandwich dessert was to die for.

Wow! Our party of 4 couldn’t stop raving about our meals. We had the Winter 3 course dinner available on Thursday nights. Each course was delicious from appetizer to dessert. Gina was excellent as our server. We’ll be back!

Great BYOB spot for a nice dinner. The food was fantastic and based on the menu I don’t think you can really go wrong picking anything. They have indoor seating and an outdoor patio.

Best restaurant in West Chester. Food excellent, service very good, nice atmosphere, BYOB. I'd recommend trying the Thursday evening fixed menu. Enjoy.

First time there and it was a wonderful experience. Great food, service and atmosphere. I generally like restaurants with small menus. They know what they like to do and they do it right. Plus it’s fresh. The salmon entree and octopus app were so good. Layers of flavor. Big plus for me is it’s a BYOB.

Hands down one of my newest favorite restaurants. I’m still here eating as I’m leaving this review because I just had to. The food is beyond amazing. The staff is super friendly, and to be honest the best filet mignon I’ve ever had. Cooked to perfection. Highly recommended!!

The striped bass special was excellent. The food came out in good timing and the waiter checked on us and made sure the food came out good. Overall the experience was very pleasant. I would definitely recommend or return again.

We have been going here for 5 years. It’s our go to for a wonderful meal. We are two busy parents so we don’t get out much… this place never fails. We have tried many other places and each time we are disappointed that we didn’t choose Spence. Their steak is 5/5!
