Really great used book store with an impressive amount and excellent variety of books both contemporary and much older, for all ages and interests. There are two separate shops in one, with two floors worth of books. They also offer the option to make appointments to buy books. The staff were super friendly and the whole experience was great. Definitely recommend stopping by.

My favorite book store to travel to. They always have such good prices and so many good and very recent books! They organize the store so you can easily find what your looking for. I may not always find the exact book I'm looking for but I always leave with something ❤

all kinds of cheap used books in an adorable downtown. what more do you need? especially great place if you’re looking for recent and popular contemporary fiction. my girlfriend and i were shocked at how many books they had that had a ton of buzz last year or so for just $5!

Love a local small second hand used bookstore. Always courteous always have an interesting selection more times than that. I wind up having an equal trade when I bring in and take out it’s fun to just sit on the floor and start to get lost in the book you can make an afternoon out of it bring a cup of coffee.

Fantastic book store. In fact, it's my favorite bookstore. Prices are fantastic, and they even at times carry newer releases.
Great staff and overall great experience! I always highly recommend anyone to check it out. You never know, the book you're looking for could be here and for a great price!

My husband and I visited recently and noticed that there is a separate area for buying books on the right side of the store (through a little gate). We were blown away at the wide selection of books available here! Could have spent hours browsing through the shelves and paging through classics I haven't picked up in years. We left with a bag full of books that we can't wait to read. So happy we stopped by!

Great store, selection and prices. [2022 update from original 2018 post]. I consistently come here every 2-4 weeks. They regularly rotate their inventory, and it's generally well-organized (the only disorganization happens when patrons are inconsiderate). Prices are very reasonable: porch books are typically 95¢ while inside generally ranges from $2.95 to $4.95, mostly $4.95. Popular or unique books are obviously higher. Selection varies and is always excellent (but not always the things I'm necessarily looking for). Owner and women who work there are always professional and attentive.

This place is wonderful! The books are all in great condition and you can find almost anything in there. I personally looked through there for the shorter end of an hour and found a book i'd been looking for for a long time. And the prices are awesome. Highly recommend for anybody who likes books.

Great used book shop. Prices are reasonable. There is large selection of paperbacks, and hardcover books. They have something for everyone. Kids, mysteries, popular fiction, as well as newer releases downstairs, upstairs back room nonfiction, front upstairs sci-fi, romance, historical books ( I think). They may not always have that one new book, you have to read right now! However, it is a used book store, a small one at that. They are not a big chain, nor are they Amazon, or eBay…. This is a small used bookshop, with books, that are of (for the most part) good, to great, used condition. The prices that are a reflection of this. They always have a decent amount, of fairly new books, up front by the register, most of which (if not all) are under $10. I always end up with at least 5-10 books for myself and children for under $30. It’s a great feeling to be able to buy that many, (new to us, good condition) books, for the cost of one “new” newly released, hardcover book. In addition they always have deeply discounted books out front, and several times a year, even have quite a few completely free books. I love this store, my kids love this store. Whenever we go, we never leave empty handed. In fact, it is the one place we shop at, that we ALWAYS find something for everyone.
Also this store has a small play area, in the back of the store, in the children section.
This place is a local gem.
P.s. I just learned today ( kicking myself for not realizing this YEARS ago) the lot directly behind this store; has free parking. Not only do they have a free parking lot directly out back, they have a sidewalk that takes you directly to the front of the store. It gets even better ( in my opinion anyway) it is free not only for those shopping Central Books used books; but also free for those shopping at the Doylestown bookstore on Main Street….. I have been coming to this store for years, and just noticed the sign today…

Huge variety, very reasonably priced and well-organized. I find new and unexpected treasures every time I visit. There is the “new” side and the “old” side: technically different businesses but connected and you can cross between them and sort out your finds at checkout. Staff is friendly and will look up whether they have a title if you can’t find it on the shelves.

My daughter moved to Oregon 5 years ago. She comes home to visit 2-3 times a year. The only place ( other than Dominic's Pizza) that we HAVE to go to when she's home is Central Books. WE LOVE THIS PLACE : )

The two ladies working were very kind and helpful. They took time away from their very busy day to assist me in locating the book I was looking for!
I will definitely shop here again.

We love coming here.
There is a fun children's book section with a little toy kitchen for the kids to play with
Most books are under $5 with a lot of decent reads under $1
No rushing or pressure to buy, it's always chilled out.

I have bought books on medieval history, religion, and literature here for nearly 20 years. There are always good finds to he had, especially if something has gone out of print. A true gem!

Love used book stores like this.
35 cents for a first printing.
Can't beat it.
The girl behind the counter was very friendly.
It's always a plus when a place has a bathroom.

So happy to have found this place! I never walk out empty-handed (and luckily, that doesn't mean spending a ton of money, as the prices are extremely reasonable). I've found some gems here!
