No.1 Chinese Restaurant

We enjoyed the food and relaxing dining in experience so much recently, we just happened to be drawn back today.
Great people and small dining room still felt like a relaxing time to us. I really mean it when I say they are great people in this small restaurant. And dine in is awesome!!!!

All I can say is this is the best Chinese food I've had in the state of Pennsylvania and Ive ate at Chinese spots from one end of the state to the other!! Their shrimp fried rice, heavenly. The fried chicken wings, divine. You can tell when you eat their food they put effort into it, not subpar ingredients like other places. Also the cleanest Chinese food restaurant Ive ever been to. Sure the prices are a little higher but you get what you pay for here. There was a point when I was eating here like 3 times a week a never once was sick, no stomach aches. If you want excellent Chinese food give this place a try, they have this good a rating for a reason!!

I moved from the reading area around a year ago. Whenever I make the 3 hour drive back I make sure I stop here and get some wings, shrimp fried rice and some chicken broccoli. The Chinese spot in my new town is ok but it just doesn't stack up to these guys.

My friends and I decided to go on a girls’ weekend trip. We were scrolling through places to get a bite to eat we saw this place deciding to eat here. The staff is Super friendly, helpful, and accommodating! We’re from out of town. We ordered dumplings, General Tso’s combo, and the new Coconut Chicken combo. I have to say when we took our first bites we were mesmerized. We don’t have a chinese food place around where we live like this! 100/10! It’s 100% worth the drive to get food like this. Everything is made from scratch. The coconut chicken is by far now my top favorite chinese food. Amazing! We’re ordering take out when we go home for everyone to try!

This is one of the better Chinese places in the area. We drive from Birdsboro if we're in the mood for Chinese. The place is clean, I've never had a problem with the food. I think they do their Sweet & Sour chicken really well. The white rice is fresh, sticky and fluffy. And the family is extremely kind. I'm more than confident that if some of these reviewers talked to the owner, they probably would have found a solution. I love that I can order online and track my order. I think that their website is set up nicely, and offering a smooth online ordering process is just awesome. Thanks!

No. 1 Chinese is a gem of a place to eat. Very clean and comfortable atmosphere. The food selection is huge and the service is friendly. My orange chicken dish has great flavor and the broccoli was perfectly prepared. Definitely recommended!

I have been enjoying no1 for many years. They continue to be great. They will customize your food - if you want extra Spicy or extra veggies They always accommodate. Plus they are open on Christmas and Easter. Food is always fresh tasting and noticeably high quality.

We've gone there so many times that the clerks have our orders memorized! Always a friendly greeting when we get to the counter. Usually very quick for made-to-order food that is always tasty and fresh!

Very clean dining area & restrooms. Their carafe of Oolong tea is always tasty & refreshing!

A simple but very clean place, good food and great service. We order from Number 1 almost every month. After so many years, we really have nothing to complain but appreciate their fantastic cooking. Not only because I personally know the owner which is a very nice guy, also because our family really do like the fried rice they make, it's so good, much better than any other places around. I always buy sweet and sour chicken as a treat to make my wife happy. Thank you Number 1, nice job as always, keep up.

Don’t think twice and try the hidden gem out!!! Have been hesitant for about a year now on trying this place out and I regret waiting so long! Ordered on a Friday evening and ordering was easy and my food was done in 20 minutes for a family of 5. They are currently not allowing dine in but the place was still clean and the food was really fresh and the quality was amazing! We got the Orange Chicken, General Tso Chicken & Chicken Lo Mein and it was all the best I’ve had in Berks County and the Egg Rolls tasted as if they were made to order!

We don't eat "there", we get delivery, but it's always great. We also buy from Great Wall (best crab Rangoon) and Mikura (sushi). No.1 has probably the best overall selection

Food is amazing. Always has been. They are super clean and during the pandemic they were to the extreme with safe protocols. I am never unhappy and drive 15 minutes just to go here. I do think they are the best in Berks County.

My only gripes are their fried rice seemed to get a bit more bland than usual. I miss the peas, eggs, and spouts like long before. Also, I wish they would be on DoorDash and Uber Eats. GrubHub is way behind

I truly do thoroughly enjoy Number 1 China. It’s very hard to find a top level Chinese restaurant in Berks.

We patron this place usually once a week. Never had a bad experience. Food is always hot and fresh! They give you generous size portions, too. Very clean facility. Friendly staff. My favorite Chinese food, ever!

I live all the way in Mt. Penn and I will drive all the way over there just to get their food! One of the best places I've ever eaten at. The service is so friendly and the food is just amazing. A little more pricey than other places but I'd rather pay the extra money and drive the 20 minutes to get it. Keep up the good work! The general Tso's is the best.

Excellent food and service. Far superior to any Chinese restaurant around the Reading area. My husband finished his entire meal, and raved about it the whole time. He never did this before. This is now our go to restaurant for Chinese food. Very impressed.

I love eating here ! the owner one of the nicest people , right when I walk in he greets me and makes me feel welcome , I live one block away from Great Wall and I hate it I always wait to go to no. 1 tried the chicken and broccoli at Great Wall and it does not compare nothing to no.1 .. I highly recommend to go to no.1 than any other place ..... BEST CHINESE PLACE EVER!
