My husband and I had our wedding at Canal Street on December 31, 2017. We were able to rent the entire restaurant for New Years Eve! We both grew up in Berks County were looking for a unique reception venue that incorporated the history and uniqueness of Reading. We looked at several industrial settings but Canal Street won hands down because of the service, atmosphere, and price! Immediately, the owner Jake made me feel so at ease with planning the reception. He offered so many helpful tips and constantly reminded me it was my day and was willing to work with me on making my wedding vision come to life! His head server, Elise, was also phenomenal! She worked so diligently the days before the wedding to make everything perfect and the night of the wedding was so attentive to us and our guests. We are still receiving compliments on the food! We had a sit down dinner with the choices of grilled salmon, Italian chicken, or NY strip. Jake requested that all of the guests receiving steak respond with how they would like their steak cooked.I couldn't believe the chef would be able to cook that many steaks different ways but I am told by my guests their steaks came out perfect and were some of the best they ever had! Along with the phenomenal hors d'oeuvres and entrees, we had a 5.5 hr open bar! The bar tenders were so attentive! I never saw a guest waiting at the bar for too long without service! My husband does not drink beer so they put his favorite cider on tap! Canal street went above and beyond our expectations! Our guests who had been there before were blown away and felt it was transformed from the normal pub/restaurant to an elegant and romantic atmosphere! We did hire a decorator but even without all the lights and draping it is such a beautiful building! One of the best parts, is that we can go back there for dinner and relive our wedding memories and see all of the staff who were so kind to us!

I know this is a Pub, but really it should be called "World's Best Veggies". The garden salad is Phenomenal and the green beans are unbeatable! I have not had a single thing on the menu that I didn't like. While we are still getting used to their new staff members, most of them seem to be holding their own pretty well. Their tap list is always current and very long and this is a great place to go any night of the week. They have lots of fun events so check out their social media if you want to specifically attend or avoid those.

A cool hidden gem! Worth the hour drive from Philly!! We came for the Brewphoria Sip Fest 2018 and we weren't disappointed! The featured brews and food pairings were amazing and spot on! We were blown away by the spicy beef lollipops en croute and this wild roasted mushroom pizza with the lightest touch of melted blue cheese and balsamic reduction. This was washed down with a gorgeous Levante-Locked in the Trunk Double IPA! A perfect marriage! Never mind the maple bacon rice crispy treats that were paired with an English Ale that was aged in rye barrels with Vanilla!! 😱 The staff there made the whole experience worth coming back to. They were fun, engaging and knowledgeable not only about the great food and beer but the local area as well! Definitely going back and bringing friends! Big hugs and shout out to Dixie and her brother Miguel stellar staff of Canal's and Katie from break-thru beverage who made the night magic!🍻

Great variety of craft beer with 18 taps, about half from PA. Friendly & knowledgeable staff. Burger was also really good.

We stopped here on a Tuesday. Not very crowded but dinner was excellent nonetheless. The sweet waitress recommended ahi tuna, which was excellent. I order that whenever I see it on the menu and it was one of the best I’ve had. Also the apple cobbler was fantastic. Craft beer list very impressive. My husband and I will definitely be back.

We used to frequent this place many years ago, but were recently back for the first time in a long time. It doesn't disappoint. Food was at least add good as remembered, great feel and atmosphere still. Would definitely recommend! Good service, great food, and great house made desserts!

Good food, excellent beer selection. One of the few bright spots in the City of Reading, proper... The pub menu has been constant for many moons, and the food is exceptionally good. Their wings are the BEST in Berks County by an order of magnitude!! Salads are great, burgers are super. Pricing is reasonable, physical space is nicely laid out and decorated. You cannot go wrong!

I’ve been here for work related meetings, chilling with my family and for weddings. This place is absolutely amazing. They have an impeccable customer service. They also have great prices and the food is delicious. They have a nice parking lot with plenty of lights. I like that is closed to home but it offers a refreshing atmosphere. I recommend this place.

I visited on a Friday night. The place was jamming with a live band and dancing. My family and I grabbed a beverage and sat outside on the cool patio.
We enjoyed a terrific, delicious dinner. The scallops with cashews were amazing. The crab cakes and mussels also got high marks.
While some people have reservations about venturing into Reading city, this establishment offers a huge off street parking lot, with green space across the street. We will certainly go again.
The food, beverage options, and service were tops!

We haven't been here for a couple years and decided to go back for New Year's Eve. Miguel, our server was polite and efficient. Our salads were fresh and tasty. There were mini corn on the cobs on top as a garnish. Salad dressing was not bottle dressing but homemade. Our filet was very flavorful, tender, and delicious. Twice baked potatoes were hot and flavorful. Rolls were crusty and warm. What a delightful meal and atmosphere to be in on New Year's Eve! We will be back! Thank you.

Place was very busy so the kitchen was very slow. However, once we got our meal it was delicious and our server Michelle was terrific. Came to see one of our favorite bands, the Rockman Blues Band, so enjoyed the music while waiting.

Canal Street has been around for over twenty years now and it continues to serve up quality food and service for all of it's visitors. The beer list is extensive, with both bottles and a tap selection for everyone's tastes. The menu selections range from pub grub simplicity to more fine-dining choices, like steaks and seafood. The space is large with exposed beams and even an old elevator shaft which serves as a seating area. Well worth a visit.

Monday is $3 select cans and bottles, which they have over 20 different beers to chose from with a taste that will satisfy even the non beer drinkers. Tuesday is select $3 drafts. The same goes for the drafts they have at least 20 different varieties of beers to select from. Its never over crowded so you won't have to worry about waiting for a spot at the bar. Plus if you're out for a hike or bike ride, its located just off the schukyill river trail.

One of the best draft and bottled beer selections around. There are always at least a dozen or more craft brews on tap, rotating regularly.

Also: Tasty, inexpensive bar food. Beer flights. Knowledgeable, accommodating staff. Occasional live music. Pool table. Board games. Popcorn with toppings. And surprisingly elegant dinner entrees.

All housed in a spacious old factory building dripping with industrial character.
