Scenic Overlook

There used to be a hotel around this curve of historic Lincoln Highway. Grandview Point Ship Hotel. The bottom of the structure still stands, but the rest is over the cliff. This was a very classy hotel back in the day. I was standing up on the point of where the Grandview Ship Hotel stood in the one photo. The view you see is 3 different states; Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland all in one photo! An amazing place to see! There is a pull off, but you have to be very careful. Worth the stop for a photo!

This is the area of the Fiight 93 Memorial, a very scenic area on route 30. Routes 30 is a very scenic drive from Indiana to just before Breezewood Pennsylvania.. Ohio and Pennsylvania on Route 30 is extremely mountainous. Many grades reach 10 percent, it's like riding on a roller coaster. Traffic is very fast making the route 30 very dangerous. But if you like scenic beautiful roads, this is the one. Plus it's free while the Ohio and Pennsylvania Turnpike are not.

This overlook is on route 30 between Schellsburg and Reels Corner.
It is located on Mt Aarat and is where The Ship Hotel/Noah's Ark was once located.

If coming from the east be careful because you will experience a few very sharp curves in the road getting here.
The drive up is fairly steep so if snow is on the roadway 4wheel drive or all wheel drive is recommended.

From the overlook you can see 3 states and 7 counties. You can also see the lake at Shawnee State Park from here.

This is a cool spot day or night and has a gravel pull off for parking. This is strictly an overlook and offers nowhere to go hiking.

I strongly recommend bringing a camera and binoculars so you can look at sights that are visible off in the distance.

Years ago when the ship was operational they had giant guarter eating telescopes. And a sign claiming you could see three states and 30 some odd counties.
