We stumbled upon a quaint, family-owned Hungarian restaurant in Pittsburgh that served us an authentic home cooked meal. The warm hospitality of the owners made us feel right at home. We relished every bite of our chicken paprikas, homemade noodles, Gypsy pork, fried potatoes, pickled red cabbage salad, and fried garlic bread with cheese. Despite our initial reservations about Pissburg, we would gladly return just to dine at this hidden gem again.
Thank You ❤

Excellent food, worth a visit! My family recommends the Huszar appetizer platter. The meat, cheese, veggies, fruit and bread were delicious. The sweet kraut on the Hungarian kielbasa was so good. The homemade dumplings with beef tips and gravy was also yummy.

Very good experience . Staff was nice & we really enjoyed the food. We had potato cake, stuffed chicken with potato & goulash. All the dishes were good & price was reasonable (for USA).

I had a delicious meal here and have to come back sometime for more. The food was authentic and reminds me of the food my European family makes. There was a large dessert selection and what we had was great.

This place is amazing! The food is prepared by a Hungarian chef and served by a Hungarian pastry chef. You are greeted by the owner who will tell you all about her Hungarian parents. Such great atmosphere!

OMG!!! This is a hidden treasure!
Transylvanian platter, stuffed cheese and bacon pork. To-die-for steak fries with both.... The appetizer tray was the best meat and cheese ever.
Old world experience. Large portions.
Front bar.
Dark, classic tavern atmosphere.
100% recommend to goths and yinzers alike.

Goulash and chicken paprikas are over the top. The desert selection is also nice, the hazelnut cake is really nice and unusual.

This was the first time ever going here. All I can say is wow... Very good food. Everything is homemade.. it's real food it's not that plastic food.. the menu is not very big.. but that's okay because it just shows you that they specialize the best they can.... I can't wait to go back again I want to be able to try everything on the menu.. it's a real gem I would put this on your list of places to eat out.. they're homemade dumplings are fabulous more like haluski dumplings very small petite.. the creamed onion soup was the best I've ever tasted.... We ordered the langos appetizer.. it's like pizza dough bread .. it was served quick and hot.. it's very important that your food be served hot to your table.. I have no complaints here.. on their website it says they are open from 12:00 noon till 8:00 p.m. and because they are a very small business with not much room inside they request that you make a reservation so that you are guaranteed a seat to sit down and eat.. we didn't have reservations.. we went in between lunch and dinner.. so we were able to be seated right away.. a definite two thumbs up and five stars. The only setback is they don't have a parking lot so you have to find a place to park on the street and maybe walk a couple of blocks to get there. But it is well worth the trip...

There are not enough stars to accurately review Huszar. It's unassuming from the outside, but what an excellent dining experience. Traditional eastern/central European fare prepared like Oma makes it. The paprikas is warming, heavy, perfectly velvety, and the chicken was flavorful and tender. The schnitzel is massive and prepared the correct way! Overall, this place is an absolute must try. I'll certainly be back.

I LOVE this place. Chicken paprikas is one of my favorite dishes in the world, and I love it here. It tastes just like in Hungary where I first tried it.
I was surprised how fast we were seated and served. Incredible!
The food was really delicious. I live about 3h from Pittsburgh but I wouldn't be surprised if I just drive there one day to have dinner.
Köszönöm!

We went for lunch today for my brother's birthday. It's a nice little hidden gem for sure.
I had the Chicken Paprikas. The chicken was very tender and full of flavor and the dumplings were perfect. My boyfriend got the schnitzel and said it was great as well. My brother got the ribs that were on special for the day at the recommendation of our servor and oh my gosh they were amazing. Fall off the bone tender and packed full of flavor. If you see that as their special TRY IT. My sister in law got the steak and it was really good too.
The service was fast and our server was very nice and was good at recommending dishes since we had never been there before.

I was not aware that this place served food. I have had Hungarian food before but I must saw it is some of the best food I have had in many years. It is indeed a Pittsburgh treasure. The menu was great and the prices were very reasonable. This would be a great place for a date or a meal with friends. On East North Avenue in north side it is one block from 279 and 4 blocks from Allegheny General Hospital in old Germantown. It is truly a find. I will be visiting again soon to sample more of the menu.

GREAT Hungarian food in a dive setting. Large portions, friendly staff.
Update 10/2023. It has been too long since my last visit. Wonderful food. Great service. Warm comfortable neighborhood atmosphere. The only knock is they do run out of authentic Hungarian wines and liquors. But the food is amazing. I love this place.

This place is a low-key hoot -- we ended our meal with the owner regaling us with stories about this Hungarian restaurant as she sat slumped in a nearby couch. it's that kinda place. The meat and.cheese board was fine, but the entrees were killer -- and big portions to boot. It ain't fancy and it ain't cheap, but worth it for something special.

OMG this place is amazing! We ordered a variety of appetizers and entrees and they were all delicious! The restaurant is slightly dated, but with food like this it doesn't matter. Make sure to make a reservation, as you will not want to miss out on this food.

Excellent Hugarian food in a cozy neighborhood atmosphere! Best Kielbasa sandwich I've ever eaten. Chicken Paprikas, Transylvanian Platter, Potato Pancake, Gulash, all were outstanding! Good beer selection and a really comfortable bar compliment a wonderful dining experience!
