After flying with my bike the derailleur needed a VERY last minute adjustment before a multi-day trip. My flight got in late and by the time I got it together it was close to closing time. I took it in hoping they would be able to help and John got it dialed in in no time at all. Everyone at the shop was super friendly and extremely helpful! Couldn’t be happier their service!

This review is long overdue. I don't even live in Pittsburgh anymore but wanted to still give Kindred Cycles the positive feedback they deserve.

I went there looking for a new bike because mine had recently been stolen. I wasn't really sure what I was looking for other than an "all-rounder." Katharine asked what types of riding I was planning on doing and suggested a gravel bike. I was a little skeptical at first never having had a drop-bar bike before and thinking it wasn't my style. But Katharine encouraged me to give it at least a test ride before dismissing the idea - and I am so glad she did. Compared to the mountain bikes and hybrids I had before, the Kona Rove gravel bike felt so much more compact and light and the whole riding position felt very natural. I never knew a bike could "fit like a glove." Katharine also took her time making sure every position was 100% adjusted to me, I never had to adjust it since.

Not only is this still the best bike I have ever had, the folks at Kindred are also the best bike shop team I have ever encountered. They aren't just trying to sell you a bike, they want to make sure they find the best fit for your biking needs. I live in Boston now and am still looking for a new bike shop to fill their shoes.

They’ve been tremendously helpful, understanding, and quick to help during my three visits in the past month. I appreciate businesses that run like this and do right by the customer without pushback or hesitation.

It can be tough trying to get into cycling when you know nothing and are a complete beginner, but Kindred made it so easy 🙌 they take their time with you and make sure the bike is the perfect fit, style, and match. Alicia was awesome and got me set up with this Norco Search gravel bike. I’ve had it for about two weeks and couldn’t be happier. Using it to commute, bike some trails, and just zip around the area. Would recommend kindred to anyone for sure.

I love Kindred. I commute everywhere by bike, often with my baby in a Burley Bee. My older kids commute to school by bike. The folks at Kindred keep everything rolling smoothly for us. We use them for all biking needs. Katherine’s recommendations are always spot on and we feel so happy to have the whole Kindred crew be a part of our community.

My 20+ year old bike feels brand new and I couldn't be happier. Very affordable and friendly. I dropped my bike off and Jesse explained to me what the issues were and we negotiated a plan. Took about 2 weeks but worth the wait for sure. Very happy with my experience. Strong work :)

Kindred is a fantastic bike shop for buying a new bike or any maintenance you might need. My favorite part about Kindred Cycles is how kind and welcoming the staff are. They have highly knowledgeable salespeople as well as fantastic mechanics. Can’t recommend the bicycle store enough! They currently have lots of great bikes in the stock too 😀🚲

Recently purchased a mountain bike from Kindred and it was a very pleasant experience. Katharine was incredibly helpful and made sure the bike I left with was the right one for me. Took the beaut out for a little 3 hour first ride today and it was a blast!

Nicest people that I have ever dealt with at a bike store; immediately you feel comfortable. I bought my first mountain bike in the late 80s so have visited several over the years. They are super knowledgeable; happy to share it with you. And, they are definitely not pushy at all. They are the type of folks that you want to sit and have a beer with and just geek out with over past and future adventures.

Alicia helped us and I chatted with Katherine as well. Alicia insisted that my friend test an additional bike so that she was extra sure that she had picked the right one. She gave me some advice on my bike and freely gave me new stem size information so that I could order it myself. The stem is spot on! My husband got one for his bike as well. When it is time for a new bike this is the place that I am going to for sure.

I bought a Kona Honzo hardtail MTB from Kindred Cycles. I'm from out of state. And Kindred was the closest dealer from me.
Wow - what great customer service! Very knowledgeable about all styles of bikes. I could not be any happier.
Thank you to everyone at Kindred Cycles.
BTW, Pittsburgh is really cool city!

My go to spot. Great people, but more importantly amazing quality of service. Ive been to maybe 4-5 other shops and always leave with either a minor or major complaint when it comes to how they serviced my bike. But can’t think of a time I’ve complained about kindred. They are typically a few dollars more expensive than other spots but if you value your time and experience on your bike you will happily pay the extra couple bucks

Had an incredible experience with John in the service department. I bought my bike, a 2018 Kona Process CR153, from Kindred during the pandemic, so I had never been in the shop before. I do most of my own wrenching on my bike, so I wanted to bring it in to have it gone over by a professional mechanic to keep her in top condition.

Even though they are on a 3-4 week backlog for service, John took a lot of time to find out what I was looking for and educate me on drivetrains, brakes, wheels and answered every other noob question I asked (which were many.) He noticed my brakes weren't functioning their best and suggested a professional bleed and wheel truing and was able to keep my bike and have it back to me by the end of this week despite their service back log. Despite being busy, he took the time to value me as a customer and I left knowing way more about my bike than when I went in. Very grateful.

Additionally, the entire staff was smiles and you could just tell they loved what they did and actually had fun working together. I would take my Mom there to buy or service a bike! Simply top notch customer service!

Aaron and Katherine are freaking AWESOME! My wife and I (Aubrey and Danielle) just got into mountain biking and quickly decided we enjoy the pain and adrenaline, so we decided to make the investment and buy mountain bikes. We popped into Kindred Cycles and Aaron did not disappoint. Both he and Katherine are extremely passionate and knowledgeable about bikes. We left with two sweet full suspension Norco MTBs and we are IN LOVE. Thanks Aaron and Katherine!

The folks who work here are inviting, friendly, and beyond experienced in all things bikes. I was totally overwhelmed looking for the right bike until I found them. Amazing service and quality bikes!

Impressed! The service, attention to detail, and friendliness at Kindred is unmatched. We were traveling though Pittsburgh and needed some routine maintenance and tune ups to our Bikes. We were told the turn around was several weeks (it is the beginning riding season). We were prepared to leave our bikes until July when we come back through, but John and the team took a look, did the tune ups, and far exceeded our expectations with a phone call that the bikes were ready within the week!
They ride great! They feel great! We are super impressed.
We would highly recommend them for new bikes or work on your existing bikes!
A huge thanks to the team at Kindred!

If you are thinking about buying a bike and you are anywhere within a 30 mile radius of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania there is no place better than Kindred Cycles! I really wanted to buy a bike but was a little hesitant because I literally had not been behind the handle bars of a bike since I was 16! The moment I walked through those inviting doors with the bikes out front I knew I was in the right place. I was greeted immediately by an energetic young man who even though he is part owner of the place treated me like I was the first customer he ever waited on! He wasn't pushy and let me figure it our for myself. I left with a bike and have been back numerous times to have the bike tuned up which they do with the same energy as if I was a new customer just walking through the door! Thanks Kindred Cycles and I look forward to the purchase of my next bike!!

If you are looking for a bike shop that knows their stuff, has a great selection of bikes and gear, and is staffed and owned by incredible caring folks then you've got to visit Kindred. I took my old bike there for a few years, bought a replacement for that one from these folks, and we bought a bike for my wife there (oh and had my ex wife's bike completely rebuilt years ago too). In every visit they've been the friendliest, most engaged, and most knowledgeable people in any of the bike shops I've visited.

My wife has never owned a bike and they took a lot of time helping her to find one she'd not only fell comfortable and confident on but one that she can keep using once she's a bit more used to riding. I really can't say enough good stuff about how great Kathrine, Aaron, and their staff are. Go see them to get a tune up, to buy a bike or gear, and/or to just meet the friendliest people in the biking community.

I contacted Kindred Cycles about getting my first bike. I am very new to cycling, and have not ridden a bike in probably 30 years. I quickly received a response with possible options, and I was able to stop into the shop to test ride them. I worked with Alicia, who explained everything I needed to know about getting a new bike, such as the different parts and what they did, why size/fit was important, and which options would be best. She helped me select a great option, and then walked me through basic maintenance and what to expect when owning a bike. It was clear to me that the staff really knows their stuff. I was nervous to go in since I knew next to nothing about cycling, but everyone was so incredibly nice and helpful. I had a great experience and love my new bike, and I look forward to working with them in the future.
