Guy was super knowledgeable and helpful. Called that morning to have a handguard put on and he had my upper finished within 2 hours. He removed my stock gas block and delta ring as well as installed a new low profile gas block and the free float handguard. Excellent service! I would recommend this shop to anyone in the area looking for gunsmithing services.

Very professional, very kind older man. I dropped off a .44 black powder revolver and a .32 colt automatic and the customer service was just wonderful. Would highly recommend

Mr. Guy is a really knowledgeable and technologically person. he really drag me out the trouble. He helped me to fix my safety switch also replaced my stock. The really sweet part is when I pick up this hot girl she is already oiled and looks like brand new. I really love it and I believe this studio is the most professional gunsmiths in Pittsburgh. If you have any problem with your firearms? This is the right place you want to go! Don’t waist your time to look around because Mr. Guy will let you get best service also with really good price! What a great asset to have in Pittsburgh!! Good gun smiths are hard to find, but Allegheny Gunsmithing is changing that!! The ship is owned and ran but Guy, who is a great guy to talk to and does even better work!! You may think it’s a small shop, but that’s deceiving... Guy the gunsmith has a computerized lathe, computerized mill, and LOTS of other equipment that good gunsmiths don’t even have. This means he can do a lot of precision work from milking to threading barrels with exact precision! Like I said, the owner and Gunsmith Guy is a pleasure to deal with, does work really fast, and he doesn’t charge an arm and a leg for work!

So, if you need a gunsmith and live around Pittsburgh, you can’t go wrong with Allegheny Gunsmithing!! He installed a recoil reduction system in my shot gun fast! Dropped it off Saturday, it was ready Tuesday (he is closed Monday)!! He milled out my wood stock to receive the unit, and ground down everything to fit the stock perfectly including the new recoil pad.

Anyway, if you need a gunsmith and like nice people who are good at what they do, go see Guy at Allegheny Gunsmithing!!

Oh yeah, he accepts credit/debit cards for work!

Great gunsmith! Very fair pricing. Short turnaround time and takes the time to explain the work that’s been done. Call Allegheny Gunsmithing first.

I found Allegheny Gunsmithing on Google. Has excellent reviews. Location is easy to get to off 28. Bought two handguns that needed cleaning, sights installed and a some other work. I dropped them off on Wednesday and they were ready by Friday. Prices are fair and competitive. I am very happy with the results. I highly recommend Allegheny Gunsmithing and will be using his services again in the future.

I am a first time gun buyer. I didn’t know anything about the type of gun that would fit best for my needs. I would go to gun shops and ask for help educating me and being patient with my many questions. This was a very difficult decision for me and I needed some guidance. This is the only shop I went to that I wasn’t treated like a moron and was given the time and information I needed to make an informed decision.

Took in an old Marlin 93 with ejection issues. The proprietor somehow had ordered the part & had it repaired within 48 hours. Now that’s service!

Guy did an amazing job on my 1911. I had him replace the trigger with a Caspian flat, convert it from a series 80 to series 70, and clean up the action. It is now the cleanest and most crisp trigger out of any of my 1911's.

His rates are very reasonable, and his turn around time is amazing. Another gunsmith quoted me twice as much with a 3 month turn around time. Guy had it complete in one week. He also took the time to clean the frame.

Amazing service, and highly recommended!

Guy was very knowledgeable and professional. Very friendly and easy to deal with. He gave me a turn around time on cleaning two of the dirtiest Ithaca featherlight shotguns around of two weeks. He completed them in a week and a half and offered to stay open a little longer so I had time to pick them up. Prices were very reasonable. I would recommend him to any of my gun owning family and friends.

I walked in with 3 firearms that needed servicing. Guy fixed 2 of them within 10 minutes of me being there and said he’d have my scope mounted and sighted in within 48 hours. I immediately called my friends on the way home to recommend this shop. Great customer service and very fair rates.

Guy is a competent "straight shooter". I recently tried to mount an expensive optic onto an expensive gun but I used the wrong screw(!!!!) ruining the internal threading on the slide. Guy created new threading and made a "work-around" fix to keep the optic strongly in place. Cost was very reasonable. I would recommend and if the need arises, be a return customer.

Was very happy with the service from my initial phone call to walking out with a functioning firearm. I had been trying to fix the issue myself as it was just resetting extractor spring after thorough cleaning. He offered some advice and said he would be happy to take a look if I was unable to get it on my own. After working for a couple of hours and initially losing the spring, I decided help was needed. When I brought into shop yesterday (A Friday) I was expecting to get a work order and some date in future he might have it done. Instead, I showed him the parts and he immediately went to work right on the sales floor. I was surprised. I thought this type of customer service was long gone. Just like a car mechanic, you hope to never need one, but when you do you want it to be someone this with knowledge and integrity. Hope to not need a gunsmith, but when I do, I have found one.

Guy has been a fantastic gunsmith for me! He knows where to find parts, his turn around time is fast (usually 1 week) and his prices are very fair. He also is a FFL and carries a selection of used firearms. He has repaired approx. 10 guns for me thus far, and most were vintage and or out of production, which many gunsmiths don’t feel comfortable with. He fixed them all promptly. It is very hard to find a gunsmith who is trustworthy, competent, affordable and efficient, but Mr Johnston is all of the above and more! No complaints here!

Guy found an appropriate pre-1964 mount for a 1941 Winchester M70 that had an old warn-out scope in an inappropriate mount, then mounted and bore sighted a new premium scope. The new scope turned out to be defective and I sent it back for repair under warranty. Guy mounted and bore sighted the repaired scope (which works OK) and also tightened up the main spring of an S&W revolver - all at no charge. I recommend him highly as a gunsmith.

Guy does amazing work, and is very polite. For me specifically, he walked me through the spare part I would need to acquire for my rifle, and even looked over the auction listings I was viewing online to get said part. The part was in the mail Tuesday to his shop, and by Thursday night, he had the new magazine inserted and functioning perfectly.

As others have mentioned, he does have a selection of used firearms for sale. I wouldn't go in here specifically looking for anything (the selection is understandably small), but it's worth your time to look them over if you stop in for repairs. I'd also recommend

I certainly don't hope that I ever run into gun issues. But if I ever need anything repaired in the future, I'm definitely going here again.

I had Guy refurbish a new to me stainless steel revolver. Polished out scratches where he could, removed some light rust and brought new life into the worn out wooden grips. He also went through and cleaned everything, inspecting as he went. He is very knowledgeable and provided a great service and value. He was also able to accommodate my time table. I plan on using his services again.

Guy at Allegheny Gunsmithing does great work...and doesn't sit on jobs for months, if he has the time he'll get your guns back very quickly! He's conveniently located right off 28/Rt 8 and will give his opinion on anything you may need. 5 * ...Mike R.

Guy cut, crowned, and re-installed the front sight on a hunting rifle for me. The crown was better than factory. Great work. Great prices. He's a nice guy and will definitely go back if I have anymore gunsmithing needs.
