Carmi Soul Food Restaurant

We ordered their full thanksgiving meal. It was delicious. There was so much food I think we could have fed 10+ comfortably. Everything was prepared perfectly, all we had to do was cook the Turkey and heat the sides. The Turkey was so juicy and delicious all the sides were amazing seasoned perfectly and delicious. We had some trouble with finding the instructions but the owner who was so kind got them to me in no time. Everything was literally perfect. I highly recommend getting the full thanksgiving dinner, you won’t regret it.

Great experience and perfect atmosphere for my family of five . I highly recommend the chicken and waffles , it is cooked to perfection! The smothered wings were 3.5/5 , fried chicken 3.5/5 , mac and cheese 4/5 ( very creamy and good ) , chicken tenders 4.5/5 these were our favorite !! That waffle was made with love and extra butter , it was soft just like we like it definitely 5/5 ! Thank you Carmi for taking care of my family . Hope to see you in the future !

This was our first stop when we got to PA and the staff was friendly. We each got a different meal and everyone loved theirs. The portions are pretty big as well and worth the money.

We ordered so much food when we were here and we're obsessed. Every single thing you can get at this restaurant is so good. There is so much flavor in every dish and side. I can not wait to go back again! If you like spicy or cajun food do not sleep on this place it will blow your mind.

Stopped in for brunch and was amazed. I don’t see why more people weren’t dining in. Tried the shrimp and grits, and it was some of the best I’ve had. Cheesy goodness and a huge portion. Mouth is watering just thinking about it. Mac and cheese and catfish looked amazing. The only complaint was it seems it took the food a while to come out, but it was so worth the wait.

Carmi's Soul Food Restaurant is Amazing!!!! They have Great Customer Service and the food was delicious!!!! The restaurant is full of beautiful pieces of artwork as well!!! The menu has great options for everyone!!!! The Salmon was yummy....the Sweet Potato Pie hit the spot!!!! We took a quick jaunt to Canonsburg, Pa for the All-Clad Stainless Steel Cookware Factory Sale at the Washington County Fairgrounds!!!! We were craving some delicious food and decided upon Carmi's in Pittsburgh!!!!
Great place for family and friends!!!!!!

Visited on a Saturday evening so got to enjoy the DJ who enhanced & didn't overwhelm our dining experience. The salmon, chicken, greens, cheesy grits & candied yams were excellent. But, that cornbread. . . I'd go just for that! Best of all, we loved the friendly, talk to everyone, family like atmosphere. No food photos...I got too hungry!

Amazing! Went for a 75th birthday party for a wonderful family member and this place made it a total success! Each and every course was better than or, as good as the previous course. The mac n cheese is to die for! The ribs were great! My wife loved the fried chicken. We are already making plans to return with a few friends. Our main waitress was Leeanne and she did a spectacular job. We were very appreciative of her attentiveness. Parking right across the street in a pay lot so don't let parking be your excuse for not going to this great place.

Our family traveled to Pittsburgh for a sporting event. Afterwards, I was in the mood for some "GOOD" Soul Food.

Since this was unfamiliar territory, I asked the hotel staff for a recommendation. He referred me to another place (Soul and Sea). I'll provide a review of them another time.

We went to Downtown Pittsburgh, only to find blocks of restaurants and bars. We walked up and down for awhile trying decide where to eat. We stumbled across Carmi and decided to give it a try.

This is a clean, small, quaint place. We had a large party, so we had to sit in separate booths. This didn't suit us, so we left for another place down the street. Well, it wound up that some of our party left. So, we returned to Carmi. Oh My Goodness!!!!!! Were we glad to have done so......

This place is "PHENOMENAL".... The food was outstanding!! The portions were beyond expectation and the place had a nice atmosphere. There is also a small bar to satisfy One's thirst.

The FOOD: There was NO shortage of Cornbread. It was moist and had a hint of sugar. My Porkchops were cooked to perfection, along w/ the Collards and Yams.
My other family members had Chicken and Waffles, Ribs w/ Mac and Cheese. Delicious!!!!!

Let's not forget the portions. All of us had enough food leftover for another day.

The STAFF: As good as the meals. They were very welcoming, accommodating, courteous, professional and friendly. The staff wears masks, however you're not required to.

PRICING: Very reasonable. Especially, for the amount of food received.

Our visit was a VERY enjoyable experience. When in Pittsburgh, be sure to visit Carmi. YOU and your stomach will be happy for it.

Amazing food, some of the best fried chicken I have had ever hands down. Insanely large portions for the price, i've got lunch for tomorrow now too. BBQ wings are incredible too, this place is definitely worth checking out, great food, great staff, great atmosphere, what else do you need?

Visited the South Side location with my mom and grandmother. Inviting atmosphere, good food, and our waitress was phenomenal! I visited their North Side location before a Pirates game a few years ago and the food was good, so I’m glad they are doing well at the South Side location too! I hope this business continues to thrive!

We stopped in Pittsburgh to visit family. Of course I wanted to try something new and flavorful. Our group ended up at Carmi Soulfood. This place did not disappoint. I didn’t get a picture of the soul rolls because we devoured them. These were some of the best I’ve had. I strongly recommend the Carmi platter. It comes with fish, chicken and two sides with cornbread. Parking is on the street but it was easy to park at the meter.

Delicious, flavorful food. Everything we had was fantastic! We went for Sunday brunch. I had the blackened catfish platter with greens and Mac and cheese. My partner had the fried chicken platter with candied yams and homefries. We had a cheesecake for dessert that we took to go. We had a great time!

Food was amazing! Service fast and great. Can't wait to come back and try more from the menu. Catfish was no dry, fried perfectly. Grits had cheese and shrimp was amazingly seasoned. Amazing music on the walkin too

This place has a very soothing feel and the food was delicious--- So delicious that we asked to speak with the chef to "smack him/her" lol..... I'm kidding , just a saying when the food is really really good---

The waitress was pleasant , on point and very professional --- If you're in the Pittsburgh area looking for a nice place to eat some really good food this is the place----

First time here and came during brunch, unintentionally. When my fiance and I got there, we were sat at the bar. Strange because there we a few open small tables and booths too but we dealt with it. Not a dealbreaker. However, the bar is very shallow so if you are taller...gonna have a bad time. The bartender, Adam, easily and by far the nicest person I've met in the Southside. Down to earth and sociable. We ordered the food and everything was great. The cajun lobster mac and cheese...unless cajun lobster is crawfish...didn't have any lobster. Nevertheless, it was still good. We also got biscuits with the honey butter. Fresh biscuits that puts any other biscuit to shame! Prices were good. Atmosphere is great. Definitely worth a visit.

My first time visiting Pittsburgh from Texas. Carmi was my favorite spot that I ate at. It's a small spot for smaller groups. The owners took time to say hello and share some info about the family restaurant and featured art. My chicken and sweet potato waffles, cornbread stuffing were great! (I didn't add syrup, the waffle was just right in sweetness.)

The food exceeded my expectations; nothing stood out particularly, but everything was good so you can't go wrong. The atmosphere matches with the food, the decor seemed inviting and rustic and soul music was playing the the background. The food arrived in a relatively timely manner and staff was extremely friendly/attentive. Definitely enjoyed my experience at Carmi!

This is somewhere you HAVE to go if you're visiting the city. Some of the best food I've had going out somewhere. Service is absolutely welcoming and wonderful people. And the food is worth every penny and then some. I ordered the shrimp and grits and was blown away by how good it was. Growing up with food like this it was a treat to have it so wonderfully executed. Come hungry.

Delicious southern food. If you ever had food in the south, you know that this is the real deal. It tastes like home made and the corn bread is amazing. The gravy is also very good
