VERY DIFFICULT TO REACH SOMEONE..
A friend recently reminded me of Mary Jo’s! So glad she did because I thought this place was gone. Haven’t had it since I was a kid, and it’s as delicious as I remember. The sauce is on the sweeter side, WHICH I LOVE. And it’s $7 for a decent sized pizza…can’t beat that!

This pizza is one of the best pie pizzas that I ever had. I am from Steubenville Ohio so I get to enjoy that really good Square pizza with cold cheese on top weekly, but this place is definitely a hidden 💎. That is half of the reason why I enjoyed it so much. The fact that it's a house on a one way street slanging za out of the basement is so nostalgic. I honestly drove by and parked up the street wondering if it was even a real pizza joint. I stepped out of the truck and could smell the pizza from a block up. I walked down and was greeted by an extremely nice lady and was informed she was sold out for the day so I placed an order for the next day to take it home to the family after work. I finished my shift the next day and went and picked up 2 pizzas one regular and one with only cheese. Drove them over an hour back home and the 7yo and her mom absolutely loved it. Prices were great, $7 a pie no matter how many toppings. We will be ordering again soon.

A friend of mine told me about this place back in the 90's. I loved the pizza. Recently I remembered the name and I Google it. I couldn't believe it was still there. So I called and got through and ordered. It was the same fantastic pizza as before. Even my teenage son said it was the best pizza he ever had. I got 4 with every topping for $28. This is a hidden gem.

I grew up in Pittsburgh in 80s. I was sitting here telling my wife about this little pizza place in basement of house we loved. I googled it and I can't believe it's still open in same place. It's been 30 years since I've had it and I live in NC but it will happen!!! Can't wait! 😂

The pizza is great! The lady is super nice! The cost is cheaper than a frozen pizza! Cannot recommend more!

They have the BEST pizza I have ever tried! The woman at the door is the sweetest person I have ever had the pleasure of talking with and the sauce is by far the best part and must be the family secret ingredient of this masterpiece! The price will shock anyone! No matter how many toppings you should want, the price is always the same. Be prepared to have a pizza party in your mouth! You will never want to dine for pizza anywhere else after having Mary Jo’s pizza! A secret tucked away in good ole Turtle Creek!

I've heard about this place for years but always forgot about it until tonight.
Awesome pizza that I wish I would've ordered a lot sooner!
I brought home two pizzas and the kids devoured it!
Sauce was a little sweet and it makes it so good.. Cheese and other toppings are excellent too!
One size (13" pizza) is all that's on the menu, with 6 toppings to choose from.
If you love pizza you have to try it!

I haven’t eaten a Mary Jo’s pizza since the 80’s... but growing up on Churchill Rd from ‘75-88 it was a staple for our birthday parties and weekend splurges. I was just talking about it with my kids in Charleston SC and looked it up and so glad it’s still Going strong. It has a distinctive sweet sauce.. at least it did then and I’m giving it 5 stars because it’s 40 years later and I’m still talking about it.

As always Mary Jo's does NOT disappoint. We've been getting pizza there for over 34 years. The sauce had a little sweetness to it so does the crust. There's only one size an 8 cut but for $6.00 you can't beat it's a staple in our house.

I have been going to Mary Jo's for about 50 years. Still the same good quality as it was years ago. Had out of town guest and order several pizza's this past weekend. The pizza's were cook to perfection and everybody enjoyed the variety of toppings. If you have never been here give it a try.

The guy that used to cut my hair told me several years ago about a place in Turtle Creek that sold pizza out of its basement. He thought that this was the best pizza in the Greater Pittsburgh area, and grew up eating it.
After he told me this, I tried for several years to find it, but was never able to, until now!
I finally found Mary Jo's, and it was great. Only one thing on the menu; a $5.00 8-cut pizza (w a few toppings to choose from).
Highly recommended.

This place has all of the lore attached to easily be one of the top 3 pizza places in Pittsburgh.
I’m going to be 38 and only found out about this place a few months ago. I cannot believe this has remained a secret to me for this long.
1. You call to order and they answer with “Hello!” This is due in part to another reason why the lore parallels the pizza, and as I’ll explain. Orders usually take between 35 min-1 hour.
2. I ask you to look at the picture of the place in Google Maps. It is an actual HOUSE on a ONE WAY STREET! You go to a screen door, ring the buzzer and one of Mary Jo’s family members ask your name. This place is 80 years old which makes you wonder if this place has been grandfathered in to the area. I had to wait 3 cars deep a few weeks back. I was hoping I wasn’t blocking anyone but they were all waiting for pizza.
3. Find a pizza that’s this good, for the price they are. You can’t! I’d say the sauce and crust combination is untouched in the Valley. It’s terrible that chains try to sell you on good pizza when it’s mediocre, at best. Yes I’m talking about the place near Sheetz and Speedway on 130 & Mosside. We recently paid $30.00+ for two pizzas, roughly the same size, that pale in comparison to Mary Jo’s.
There are probably things I am forgetting to mention but I will argue with anyone, anyway about pizza in the Mon Valley and surrounding areas. I have been robbed of decades of great pizza from this place. I’m sure I will make up for it in the coming months.
This place reminds me of a pizza shop in Wilkes-Barre named Angelo’s, which I consider the best pizza in the state of Pennsylvania.

First time. Will be back. Excellent pizza. 13 inch in size. Choose between 6 different toppings. Sauce has a bit of a sweet flavor (my opinion). All for 5 dollars per pie.

The pizza is the best value here in Turtle Creek. A pizza could easily feed two people for only $5. The ingredients are fresh and yummy. The pizza had almost a sweet flavor which made it really unique. I will be a repeat customer for sure.

Addicted!! My wife is going through cancer, and this is her treat for the week! Sweet dough... not acidic sauce... just a great comfort food!!

Best little pizza in the area for the price, kind good customer service. Love to grab and go. Wish they had more hours, but the best does not mean always open! So great to enjoy this $5 pizza with my family!
