A perfect place to get everything you need for a paint job. Whether you are a novice or a pro, you are going to get honest advice, no silly gizmos, and great prices. John and his staff are always helpful and make me and my kid feel welcome every time...It's a perfect little shop as is, but if he ever decided to expand to become a small hardware shop, I'd be there once a week like everyone else in the neighborhood with a crumbling old house!

Skip the big box stores for paint and supplies. Go to Pennwood Paint. You'll get a small town experience from people who've obviously been in the business for a long time. You won't get ripped off, and they really know the business. John the owner is the friendliest and most knowledgeable paint guy that I've ever known. I've been painting professionally for years, but I always walk away learning something new from him.

John is just awesome to work with. He saved my a** by custom mixing a color to match when I ran short and couldn’t locate the right product. My wife was super impressed with the result and, hey, isn’t that what it’s all about?! He took the time to get it just right and I can’t thank him enough. Go buy some paint from him!

Painters, I'm sure you already know you're getting the best paint (Benjamin Moore) at the best prices in Pittsburgh (if you find better, I'll retract this). DIY folks who are constantly feeling like your being taken advantage of by idiots and scoundrels, ask John the honest question, he will tell you a genuine answer.

John is wonderful. I was fortunate enough to find this shop a few years back and have returned for every single paint project in my home. They’re so knowledgeable here between color matching, suggestions on the kinds of paint for a specific project, you name it, they are kind and helpful.

After standing at the Home Depot paint window for half an hour without assistance, I decided to check out an independent store for that 'personal touch'. At Pennwood Paint & Supply, I found it.

Coming in as a total novice, the owner patiently walked me through several techniques(going so far as to pull some brushes off the wall and show me different strokes), went over the differences in the paints, and actually talked me OUT of some extra stuff I didn't need. After having just been in the big box store, I can also confidently say Pennwood is extremely competitive on supplies and brushes.

From the customers I saw while inside, this place is no secret from local pros, but if you're in doubt about the size or location or whatever, put that to bed and come check this place out. I will never go anywhere else for paint, supplies, or advice as long as I'm in Pittsburgh.

Fast, friendly and helpful. Got 4 cans of paint mixed up in 10 minutes and got some good advice too. Faster than any experience I've had at the big box stores.
