Great selection of model trains and the service was exceptional. Very friendly and helpful staff.

This is beyond a doubt the most train-packed and greatest train inventory I have seen in one place. I say that having visited LOTS of train stores in many countries. Lots of really cool tin plate sets. He has Lionel from all time periods. You ask and there is a place in the store where he can find it. he has all scales although he is heaviest in O scale. I purchased a West India Fruit & Steamship reefer from him in G scale. (love it) He also does repairs and apparently has YEARS of experience fixing these things. he has some other classic toys s well. Although soft spoken, Mr. Carver is friendly enough. A real model train enthusiast could spend hours perusing the place. Some of the pieces are pricey but in great condition and I suspect rather rare. If.you are visiting Gettysburg and are a model train lover it is worth several hours of your vacation time.

First train set I have bought and he was extremely helpful.
I explained what I wanted it for and he made very good suggestions. He made sure that train was an excellent working order and he cleaned, oiled and showed me how to set it up and maintain it. Met his sister, excellent people and you can tell that they are very enthusiastic about their work and take pride in what they do.

Wow, what a wonderful train shop. The entire shop is packed solid with every train item you could think of. If Don doesn’t have it, it doesn’t exist! Don and his sister are an absolute delight! We will definitely be stopping here again when ever we visit Gettysburg again (or make a special trip just for this shop).

A building full of Lionel and HO scale trains. Most used products but good shape. Good pricing, huge selection, very nice proprietors. Will definitely return.

My father and I brought in my Grandfather’s old American Flyer locomotive to see if she was able to run after being boxed up for 30+ years. Right after I walked in I knew I had come to the right place. Everywhere you turn was model trains. I’d be more surprised to find a part of accessory they didn’t have. As far as the repair went, as soon as I took the locomotive out of the wrapper, the owner knew exactly what it was and had an idea of what needed done. The shop owner handled my train with immense care and proceeded to replace the bulb, lubricate the entire engine, and fix a loose smokestack. Every question we had was answered honestly and professionally. It was such a good experience we ended up leaving with everything we came for (and then some). Will most definitely be coming back for years to come as the shop owner was extremely knowledgable and skilled, but I guess 65 years of experience is also to credit for that. If you need anything model train related, Carter’s Toy Trains can’t be beat.

For any of you that have never been to Don Carver's store, you have never been to the best store in the train hobby business. He has the best collection of new and old Marx, American Flyer, Lionel, etc. Not only does he have everything, he also repairs everything. His pricing is equivalent to or better than e-bay, and you don't have the shipping charges. We have known Don for 20 years, and he's the most decent, honest and hospitable person that I know in the hobby.

Charming, polite owner, who knows a lot about toy trains. You must stop buy and pick out some Lionel, American Flyer, Marx or HO trains to start your model train layout. Support this local business as his store is truly amazing.

I so enjoyed meeting Don Carver and seeing his shop. What treasures he has and knowledge. There is a lot for young children and youth to enjoy. Worth a visit!

Wonderful service. Brought in two Lionel steam engines in need of repair and they came out looking as good as new.
