Deli On Main

We’ve been here once before for take out. We didn’t order ahead and they were packed, it was literally standing room only. They make sandwiches to order so there’s a little delay but you can see them cutting the meats and cheeses fresh and they weigh them. I like knowing that I’m going to get the same sandwich no matter who makes it. Today we called an order in because we were craving good pastrami. Hubs got The Rachel (Friends anyone?) which is hot pastrami on marble rye (Seinfeld anyone?), slaw, Swiss cheese and thousand island dressing. I also got The Rachel but they let me substitute Swiss for provolone and they put it on a sub roll. Both versions were really good. The pastrami was lean and piled on. You can see that my bread was toasted to a nice crackly finish but it wasn’t a mouth killer. Ignore the fries and pickles, I had those at home. Calling ahead is the way to go because seating is pretty limited. They are very nice and substitutions aren’t a problem.

Staff was super friendly and welcoming! Food took a little long, but it was super yummy and exactly what we were looking for in a deli sandwich. Cute place

Great food and people. On short notice, they were able to cater 50 sandwiches for a Habitat for Humanity volunteer event. The volunteers loved the food and were very thankful. Thanks Deli on Main!

I have been eating at this deli for several years and I must say they are very consistent. The food is always delicious and the owner, who I call momma Joe, is always so kind and thoughtful. If you have not tried this little deli I would encourage you to do so, definitely one of my favs to stop in for lunch. They are a small business, so have patience with them if you go during the lunch rush hour or maybe save time by calling in your order before you arrive.

reuben was great as was the Coconut cake I had. Mac in cheese wasn’t to bad either. I’d return for sure

First time in and staff was super nice. I didn't realize they closed at 2 and we came in right before that, I felt bad but they didn't make us feel like we were an inconvenience which I really appreciated. Food was delicious, got a Ruben and a turkey on croissant.

Another local hidden gem in this adorable town. I loved the down home feel of this location right on Main Street. Mismatched chairs and tables, simple menus, and amazing service and food. Had a family owned feel to it. The woman who took my order was sweet and very helpful, then the gentleman who I paid was also very kind. Even though the place was busy, they didn’t rush me and answered all my questions.

I ordered the Rueben sandwich and an order of peanut butter fudge. The sandwich was great, absolutely no complaints. However, the fudge was to die for! I’m not kidding when I say this is by far the BEST peanut butter fudge I’ve ever had. Most are a little dry but this was perfect. I would return to this place for the fudge alone!

The only slight disappointment I had during my visit was the sweet tea. It just didn’t seem sweet at all. In fact, I had to add sweetener to it, but not everyone loves sweet tea like I do. Once I added the sweetener it was fine!

Pricing was average, but keep in mind you don’t get a side with your sandwich (unless it’s the special), but even with my sandwich, drink, four pieces of fudge, I believe I was still under $20.

Overall, my visit far exceeded my expectations. I was in town to visit my son and daughter-in-law, and next time I visit the area I will be bringing my husband to this adorable deli. I have no doubt he will love it as much as I do!

Fantastic staff, fast and friendly service, exceptional sandwiches, huge portions, great prices! I was greeted promptly by the teenage clerks, the owner and the lovely lady behind the deli counter. Wonderful experience! Cozy atmosphere, hand scooped ice cream and shakes and Grandma Hinkle's Home Made Pimento Cheese! Get with bacon tomato and jalapeno on their fresh baked croissant! Highly recommended!

Been living in Kernersville for seven years and this was my first time eating here!!! My sub was the best and enjoyed every bite definitely coming back!!!

Nice local spot for lunch - sandwiches, soups, desserts, etc. My food was great, customer service was excellent. I will definitely go again.

Side note: I can always get behind a business that hires individuals with intellectual disabilities. I wish more places did!

The food is great and the people greater. I love this wonderful place.

I don't often leave reviews of places to eat and can't remember ever leaving two for the same place, but two weeks after my previous review, I'm back. My brother and I had lunch at the Deli on Main again yesterday. Not only was the food excellent, but Jo's Chocolate Chess Pie is the best I've ever eaten anywhere. Thank goodness there was a whole pie in the case yesterday; we took three pieces home.

I have to say I don't understand what the issues with price are in the reviews here. I had a half sub with side for 5.99 and it was delicious. Where else is dill mayonnaise a choice? To say nothing of the new "Jo Mama's Sauce," another flavored, slightly spicy mayo. Everything is always fresh and plentiful. Every time I've had a full sized sandwich, I end up taking half of it home.

I can't say enough about the management of the Deli, also. I visit for about a month every year and always receive a warm welcome and -- when they have time for it -- a quick friendly visit at our table. If there was a way to rate it 10 stars, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I have many options for eating out in Atlanta and THIS little diner in Kernersville is still one of my favorite places for lunch.

I should have reviewed this long ago. We were recommended here from a Cake shop not far. Excellent food, great atmosphere, and the service is great. Looking at other reviews, others have commented about the price. If you go to a chain shop you’re probably going to be paying the same, and they may not be fresh ingredients. Support small business. I try to come here at least once a week! Well worth it

This is my absolute favorite sandwich shop.
We ate there during a car show and the sandwiches were phenomenal.
People are very nice that work there.
I wish they stayed open later.

A very family and kid friendly place suitable for family with all generations. They have deli sandwiches, ice cream and Keurig coffee. The interior design is like walking into a vintage home with many memories. There are stands with children’s toy!

I went in not knowing they closed at 2pm. They still accommodated by taking my order and making me the best chicken and mozzarella sub!! It was a fair price for the size of the sub. I look forward to trying many of their menu items in the future.

We love this place. It's a hidden gem in downtown Kernersville that doesn't get the business it deserves. Every week we go and get 2 kids meals with ice cream, of course, and I love their chix mozzarella and Turkey Reuben sandwiches. Their potato salad, potato soup and desserts are all so good and we always leave stuffed! Try their banana pudding and praline pecan ice cream and you'll be glad you did. Corona has taken its toll on so many businesses this year, praying places like this can make it through! ❤

The food was delicious. The service was excellent. We both had roast beef (cold) sandwiches and we'd highly recommend. Prices were good.
