Purcell's is a family owned and operated business since 1955. We have had the pleasure of serving thousands of customers over the past 60 years. Our goal has always been and will always be to offer the best price, and service to each and every customer. Unfortunately, as the saying goes "You can't please everyone". I would like to apologize to that 1% that feel they had a bad experience at Purcell's, as for the other 99% we want to say a BIG THANK YOU for all your business and continued support throughout the years.

I have done a lot of business with Purcell's since discovering them about a year ago. I have purchased flooring for a few projects, as well as all-wood cabinets for a kitchen renovation. They may be a small business with a laid-back beach town vibe, but these guys have given me personalized customer service, no games, and good prices.

Some people like big box stores....Me ? I'll take a local, small business any day, as long as they know their product, have access to the right products, and can compete on price. Purcell's is that kind of place to me.

I visited the store last week. I just wanted to make a suggestion on business policies. The first thing I noticed was a large political sign in font of store and then a sign on the door saying "we do not require masks" (also obviously a political message). I respect the right of all people to voice their opinions, however, I am not sure that it is best idea to make strong political statements in a business environment that is open to the public. Side note: Regardless of your political leanings, I personally found the mask sign to be particularly disturbing in light of the unanimous opinion of the greatest medical experts in the world. The owners may not care, but, in my opinion, politicizing a retail business may drive a significant portion of potential customers away. As an example, we left and went to a competitor the same day and made a substantial purchase. Again, I respect the right of everyone to express their opinion, but maybe not the best idea in a business setting. I am a huge advocate of local small businesses and I am sure the company has great products and service, but I am afraid they may be hurting themselves. Just my opinion.

It was no ones fault for missing each other’s calls, and missed voicemails on both ends. I can even understand that they needed to be paid the job was completed. My friend had every intention of paying them but when the only way to pay is by phone (it seemed like) it sometimes turns into phone tag when Purcell don’t always answer their phones. After my friend received a threatening voicemail on 2/12 from Eric (and it is saved by visual voicemail) she called for 25 mins straight till someone finally answered and she was able to settled her account. That’s a traumatic experience I personally could not deal with.

When I first called Purcell's and spoke to Van, one of the owners he quoted me a 1 bedroom carpet price of under $500. I then went to his warehouse and he showed me a variety of extremely cheap carpet that was unacceptable. He then took me inside to the store and showed me a better quality carpet. He gave me a verbal quote and said the price differentiated based upon the color I chose. I said I would be back with my husband then next day to choose the color. When we arrived and chose the color the price was miraculously $300 higher. We should have left right then and there, but he sweet talked us into choosing another variety that he could do for the previously quoted price, but then he said he needed to come to my house and measure. I set up that appointment and he said he would call to give us the quote. He always refused to give a written quote, should have been warning #2. After having to move our installing appointment a week and half later, the carpet was installed, however the area rug which was made of the same carpet was not delivered because it was not ready and the installers did not know when it would be ready. Also when my husband called to make the down payment for half of the cost, they charged our credit card for the full amount and then stated that they did not know how to make a refund. When I called to see when our area rug and pad would be ready the lady did not know and apologized. I just asked that Van call me back to let me know when it would be ready and delivered. I then received the most unprofessional phone call from Van Purcell who did not even introduce himself on the phone but started to yell at me in a raised voice that he could not measure the closet of our bedroom because there was too much stuff in it, which is untrue I had 3 other companies come and measure to give quotes, no one had a problem with it. And I said if he needed me to move something I would have. He then began to talk over me and yell and say I was rude when I called to ask when my area rug was going to be ready so I ended the phone call. I had my husband call him to get the facts and he apologized to my husband that it was supposed to be a two step process all along, (which was never explained to us) of first installing the bedroom carpet and then delivering the area rug. Van said they send their area rugs out to get bound and he was waiting to do so until he had a certain number of them. So we will have to wait another week before we might get our area rug. If you really like to save money, and don't mind being disrespected then go ahead and order your carpet from here. If you have any dignity then I would pay a bit more and go with any of their 5 local competitors who were not much higher in price.
