Skyline Drive is an epic ride through the Blue Ridge Mountains. The views are stunning, and there are numerous hiking trails.

Big Meadows Wayside is the perfect spot to stop and grab something to drink. There is a small restaurant with an excellent menu selection. The gift store has some nice stuff to look at, and the convenience store is stocked well.

Driving Skyline Drive s a long haul. This is a perfect stopping point. Gas station doesn’t have crazy marked up prices, large clean bathrooms, visitors center had a short video to watch in the air conditioning, and some great trails all stem from this area. They also have a fantastic breakfast and lunch spot to stop in for food. I was SHOCKED at the quality of food here. It was genuinely delicious and so fresh. Definitely a great stop to refuel both your car and yourself.

Visitor Center and convenience shop near Big Meadows Lodge. Good supply of snacks, drinks (including wine), clothing and other items you might need while camping out.
The Visitor Center tells the history of Shenandoah NPS via an interactive walk-through exhibit. Park Rangers are also on-hand to answer questions. The gift shop has a nice selection of books, shirts and other souvenir knick knacks.
There is also a gas station here.

Big Meadows wayside. Gas with great prices, not crazy markups.
Smash burger and beyond burger were both great!
Fries are mix of a chip and fluffy fry, were really good.
Save room for cup of homemade pie and a scoop of ice cream.

Right across from Big Meadows great views, lots of parking.
Next door to visitor center.
Further back there is a campground and hotel.

Such a welcome treat after a waterfall trail hike on a hot day. Enjoyed my meal a lot but highlight was the peach ice cream and blueberry cobbler. Good gift and supply store too.

Wow! What a great stop along Skyline! The gas was a reasonable price, there were lots of snacks and souvenirs to choose from, not to mention the great grill with tasty food! We had smash burgers and they were spot on! The blackberry ice cream was a treat.

Surprisingly tasty and reasonably priced food for a remote restaurant in the middle of a National Park. Cell phone signals won't reach here but culinary dedication surely did

A regular after hike stop for Blackberry ice cream! The best!! Other food and drink items are available to purchase. There is a giftshop as well with everything, including shirts, hats, souvenirs, drink containers, stuffed animals, and various snacks.

Perfect view from the patio!
The ham grilled cheese was awesome but if you have high blood pressure dont get it. Its the saltiest sandwich ive ever had. Funny story, while hiking a overheard somebody talking about this salty ham😂 she ate the same sandwich.
The cobb salad had lots of ingredients and was super good. The raspberry dressing was good too. Mac and cheese was bland but the kid said it was ok. Kids chicken strips were very good.
Our server was ok, im guessing she was new. Could have been more friendly like all of the guests we encountered.

Very nice staff and unironically one of the best smash burgers I have had. Definitely the best prices in the park as well for those on a budget.

Great stop along the skyline drive. We did not eat in the restaurant, but instead completed our picnic with drinks and snacks from the store. The area is very nice, the building clean, and you can walk the meadows opposite from the wayside (other side of the road). Sunsets are very nice from here. Well stocked, and includes a gift shop. Plenty of parking and has a gas station. Recommend stopping by to eat or have a picnic at least once while in the park and enjoy the walk in the meadows.

I was visiting family last week from out of state and we stopped by here, must say I'm impressed with the actions of the cashier, I witnessed a very rude guy literally throw money at the cashier, the cashier laid his change on the counter, the guys girlfriend came in and started mouthing off, the cashier didn't say a word and just walked away, wow, good job holding onto their temper! Awards for good customer service when my turn to pay came.

Perfect camping... great location to use for "home base" for other hikes, as we did for Old Rag and other epic hikes. Rangers are friendly and knowledgeable about local flora and fauna. Huge wildlife area.. bears, deer, wild turkey, rabbits, chipmunks, and a multitude of beautiful birds. Been going here for 50 years... we will be back!

The climb is well worth the view at the time. Not too difficult, so bring the kids! Provides a great view of the cliffs to the right on the sides of the river. Over to the left the Potomac cascades around the island to the left, reachable only buy a little dip in the water. Either way, bring a camera and enjoy the view!

This is one of the larger more complete Wayside. This is close to the Big Meadows Lodge, so there are a lot more amenities here than some others on Skyline. There is a museum inside the visitor center, which gives one an idea of what it took to build and maintain these mountain roads. Food is so-so, try the local favorite berry shake.

Customer service is EXCELLENT.... the food is okay. Would highly recommend that everyone stop in next season and speak with Sue and Cynthia both ladies are sweethearts. They understand the importance of customer service and being kind to one another. Some of there fellow co-workers could learn a few things from them. These 2 ladies go above and beyond to make everyone feel as if they are important. Big meadows is lucky to have these ladies representing them.

Great place to see. Lived in the area much of my life and I still enjoy the sunsets. Lots of outlooks along the way. Good camp style food or a nice hot chocolate during a rainy day.

I have been coming here my entire life so it is hard for me not to be partial...it is hard to beat the charm and beauty of this place. It is not fancy...it is quite rustic and old, there are no phones and no TVs in most of the rooms but that's one of the things l love about this place. You can truly unwind and relax, the food is good, the service always exceptional, but if you are expecting a pool and tennis courts and excersise rooms, you should go to Wintergreen or Massanuten. This is my home away from home...if you love breathtaking views, wildlife, hiking, and blazing starry vistas then this is the place for you.

Been going here for almost 30 years; people are friendly, sure is well stocked, lots of gifts/toys/games, and they just refurbished the dining area. Haven't eaten with the new menu yet but I'm sure it is great

Very convenient wayside in the National Park. They seem to have just about everything you could need. I’m walking distance to the visitors center.
