Tommy reupholstered a chair for us that belonged to my husband’s grandmother. It turned out so beautifully! We’re so happy he was able to bring life back to this special piece and make it better match our decor.

I am ecstatic that I found and chose this professional and gifted ensemble of artisan craftsman..LED BY Thomas "Tommy" Seabolt. I am a FORMER customer of Murphy's Upholstery (as they did a very large couch for me in the past)..but the announcement from Murphy's "we only pick up on Thursdays" ..alerted me that something had changed , I suspected new owner/mgmt..AND LUCKILY I found Seabolt Upholstery. In addition to the workmanship being impeccable..and gorgeously detailed, the "pick up and deliver on any day" is a plus. Also, they beat Murphy's price..even though I never shared the quote with them. I cannot wait for the next piece to be handled by this fantastic team.

My wife was given to club chairs years ago by her grandmother. They'd been stored in the garage for the last 6 years after we moved to Greensboro as we didn't have anywhere to put them in the new house. My wife decided that she wanted to have them reupholstered. I balked thinking it'd be insanely expensive. It wasn't cheap, but real craftmanship isn't. The result was amazing. Very timely turn around to produce two very beautiful chairs that look like new. Was not planning on the necessity of having our couch reupholstered. In actuality, it needed to be completely gutted, foam, backing and arms due to a male cat that has since been taken care of. However, the people over at Seabolt upholstery did an amazing job. The owned the task and delivered above and beyond results. Their design and craftsmanship is unparalleled and a breath of fresh air to have this headache lifted off my plate. My dad died two weeks after my 5th birthday. One of the two things of his that I own is an 88 year old leather chair that he bought in 1930. As it aged in the relatively dry, heated environment of a home, its leather dried and cracked. I've tried to stop that process by applying liberal amounts of leather conditioner, but it's done no good. The leather is simply dead.

We asked a friend if she knew a good upholsterer--someone who took pride in work well done. Without hesitation, she recommended Tommy Seabolt at Seabolt Upholstery on Huffman Street. I called him; we spoke, and I offered to bring the chair over to him for a diagnosis. My wife and I loaded it up, and off we went.

Tommy was impressed with the chair; he liked it. And after a short time examining his patient, he agreed to operate. We chose some pretty fine leather in a color as close to the original as possible, agreed on a price, and closed the deal.

They were to replace all leather--sewing and pleating it exactly as the old one had been built. They would eight-way hand tie the springs, replace the webbing, and actually rebuild my old chair from the frame out. The job would take a month to move into production.

Before we left, I pointed out to Tommy where, as a 4 or 5 year old kid, I'd done some artwork waaay down on the inside leather of one of the arms. It was what we know today as a "smiley face". If my parents had found that, I would not be writing this--if you know what I mean.

Yesterday, I got a call from Tommy telling me that the chair was done, and he agreed to have it delivered this morning. Well, she's home, and what a beautiful piece of craftsmanship she is. Quality and attention to detail are alive and well at Seabolt Upholstery. Its design remains the same in every respect as the original. The workmanship is flawless.

And best of all? When I lifted up the seat cushion, there, sewn into the fabric covering the springs was a neat 6" X 6" patch of leather from the original chair. It had a smiley face punched into it by a sharp object. It's thought that the artist was a little boy who created it over 60 years ago.
That's thoughtful, and I suspect that things like that are the norm and not an exception at Seabolt Upholstery

Great overall experience. I have a couch that the seat cushions just got worn out and not comfy like it used to be. When I got them back from Seabolt it’s better than it was when I bought the couch. Good turn-around time too.
