Summer Trails Day Camp

Summer Trails Day Camp is an amazing day camp in Somers. There are tons of activities for all children from 3-14. Children grow and thrive there trying new activities each and every day. Many former campers continue their love of the camp by working there when they’re old enough. Sometimes their own children (and grandchildren) attend, and the cycle starts all over again. Happy 50th anniversary!!

Summer Trails Day Camp has been my second home for almost 20 years! I started as a camper at the age of 5 and continued on to eventually become a sports specialist and even a lifeguard! The memories I have of Summer Trails are ones I will carry with me for lifetime. I have remained friends with many of the people I met as a camper and as an employee. This camp will give children the best summer of their life and it is a place they will continue to talk about all school year. Summer Trails exposes children to so many activities such as, archery, arts and crafts, jewelry making, cooking, various sports, drama, dance and so much more! Although I moved on with my career I continue to visit Summer Trails every year my summer wouldn’t be complete without it! I am forever grateful for all the experiences and friends I’ve made at Summer Trails. Jamie, Debi, Dave and the entire Summer Trails Day Camp staff are AMAZING! Give them a call TODAY! 😊

My child has been attending Summertrails for 3 summers. She has learned to become a great swimmer and loves the activities. She’s looking forward to some of the upgrades to come this summer. Highly recommend

My daughter’s attending kindergarten group and she loves it. The activities are organized and fun. My daughter gets dirty every day, which is exactly what we’re looking for from camp😀. Also, they’re accommodating and capable of handling exceptions. One day, we were unable to come pick up due to severe weather and we got worried, and they were so considerate. They babysat her for extra hours and offered to drive her home.

Summer trails was my summer home for 20 years. The friendships I made and the skills I learned carried me through my formative years and beyond. The staff is amazing, caring, qualified, and full of “camp lifers”. I cannot wait to send my own children here to watch them grow and thrive during their summers like I was fortunate enough to do. You really can’t go wrong with summer trails for your child.

Summer Trails was my home for twenty years. The friends that I have made there and the skills that I learned are priceless. Going to private school my whole life, camp gave me an outlet beyond my dreams. I was exposed to social skills, team building, networking skills, problem solving skills and the confidence in myself to try something new. The experiences and friends that Summer Trails gave me will last me a life time.

We love Summer Trails. Our children have enjoyed the summer programming and we have felt that they are safe in a fun, caring, clean environment.

Summer Trails is an outstanding day camp with a wide variety of programs. An accredited camp, it is operated by people who really care about your children and seek to provide them with a wonderful summer experience.

The staff is dedicated to providing the kids an overall great summer experience. There a variety of activities and the hours work well for parents who work early or late. It is a great place for children to develop memories and stay active during the summer months.

I love the atmosphere. Great staff. Amazing place to work. The kids are great. You get to do some many different activities. Plus they do stuff all year round from pumpkin smashing to ice skating. Amazing camp.

We have a high functioning autistic son who was traumatized by his experience at Summer Trails a couple years ago that he’s been dealing with in therapy. There’s no sensitivity to disability and the defacto response to any issue with our son was to send him to the nurse’s office and leave him there most of the day (“we’re don’t have the staff to deal with him.”) Much more success with the Rewilding summer camp and Putnam Valley Day Camp. Our other son had a very good time at Summer Trails though. Neurotypical kid can have a great time here, not a neurodivergent one.

Not every activity needs to be movement oriented.

If I could give zero starts I would! The Director of place is absolutely horrible! My child was physically assaulted by another camper and when I called the Director and asked the how she would ensure it did not happen again as this was not the first time she said to trust her but gave no details and when I insisted on a plan she kicked my kids out of the camp. They were scheduled and all packed to go on the sleep away portion of the camp. I had to tell my kids who were already packed that they could not go.
So Summer Trails let’s the bully win and punishes the victim.

Dave the owner used to employ his niece (as a counselor) who was a recovering drug addict... Not even sure about the recovering part. This was around 2004. Be vigilant about who watches your kids.
