Red & White Cafe

I am remiss at having forgotten to mention what may be the Greatest Cafe in New York. And that Cafe is the Red & White Cafe, in Ithaca. For that, I apologize.
Where Plain and Court St bisect, just up the street from GIAC, which is the Greater Ithaca Activities Center: you will find the Red and White Cafe. Unexpectedly,this Fine Establishment quickly and efficiently servers the finest food variety to construction workers, community members and others on lunch break; with not much time to wait around for lunch to be served.
Such a small business with big heart, great service, great food and long standing history of doing the Cafe business on that corner, should be recognized by the City of Ithaca as a Major Food Service Contributor to the Construction Industry which is building up our fair City, and service to it's Community and people of Ithaca at large.
Stop by, say hi and grab a bite of really great food. On Friday's their fish fried haddock sandwiches are out of this world. They have fried chicken, foot long chili dogs, and burgers which make you wish you had ordered two instead. Just get it next time.
I have been going there for years, and the food just keeps getting better.

Quality is on par with most other better-known fish fry places in the region, but I like their sauce better. Fish and coleslaw taste fresh. The place looks like it could use some upkeep and is take-out only. Street parking is easy to find.

Some of the best fried oysters I've ever had. The price was a tad bit steep yet for what we got, it was worth it; after all you get what you pay for. I highly recommend this place. I think they do fresh catch from the ocean if not themselves they buy directly from a beach location. Again I really give 5 stars but this place was good.

For what they serve, it is excellent. I have always gotten the Friday fish fry here but I understand their other menu items are delicious. Several people have told me to try their spaghetti, because apparently the sauce is authentic and amazing. We'll soon see!

The cafe is a friendly, small-scale restaurant great for lunch or a quick meal. The owner is incredibly friendly and gave me suggestions for local sights and restaurants to visit on my vacation. The fish sandwich special was a great deal and some of the best fish and chips I've ever had, even from my trips to England! I highly reccommend the Red and White Cafe to anybody visiting Ithaca.

Probably the shortest review I'll ever give. This is the only place I trust in town to make anything fried. I get a fish fry at least once a month from here. The attitude of the people who work there is hit or miss depending on the day. I've definitely given them an eyeroll or two because of their grumpiness over absolutely nothing at times. But I'll keep coming back because their food has never faltered.

Can't believe it took us so long to try this place! As others say - it's the only place in town to get good fried fish! Local, family owned. Owners/staff were friendly and welcoming to us and our baby. We'll be back often!

Can't think of anything that I would take a star away for. It is a small, informal place. You order at the counter and choose a seat; your food is brought over to you. We had the fish fry, lightly breaded substantial-sized fish with french fries and coleslaw. The fish was light, white and tasty.. some of the best we have had in a while. French fries are good and we loved the coleslaw. They are open Monday-Friday ..for lunch, dinner and inbetween.

Best spot in town for fish fry. Much more reasonably priced than the "Doug's" truck that comes to town. It is also fun to see all the local history displayed on the walls.

Best fish dinner in Ithaca! The owner and the folks who work there are all very nice and my order was up very quickly. They will be getting more of my business for sure.

This place has the BEST seafood dinner I've had in a long time. The Owners are nice and you feel at home. I'll be going back my next trip up to the area.

Always great food! The fish is Ithaca's best kept secret. Service is always fast and friendly. Eat here where the locals do and feel a part of the neighborhood.

Great fish fry! 🐟 a Friday dinner favorite. We regularly order potato wedges w/ buttermilk dip, or onion rings.

This place surpassed expectation. Fish was sweet and light, scallops were heavenly. Great casual place for the local fish fry!
