Holiday Inn Express Columbus South - Obetz, an IHG Hotel

The property is conveniently located next to 270. There are several places nearby for fast food as well. It appears newly updated, and this was the first CLEAR pool I had seen at a hotel in a very long time! The high ceilings in the lobby defined the space and helped break up the breakfast area. The driveway to the hotel is not easy to find if you aren't too familiar with the area and can feel like you have made a wrong turn at first. Upon entering, we were greeted by a gentleman named Bert. He was very friendly and interacted with our kids. He told us everything we needed to know about our stay and offered suggestions when we were looking for a place to eat. He treated us like family and welcomed us back any time we came inside. I watched him interact with other guests, and he treated each person with the utmost respect. It is rare to find someone so polite and accommodating now a days. I wish I could have packed him up and taken him with us to our next hotel! This man deserves a raise! If you are checking in, I truly hope you get the opportunity to meet him! He makes you feel at home 💜.

We stayed from Friday to Monday last weekend. It was a very clean an nice environment. Hotel staff were very professional an answered any questions we had. Breakfast was very good. The pool was very relaxing as well. Will use this location again.

Celebrated our son going to the 4th grade and passing his tests. He loves to swim. They have an open clean pool. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was everything bacon, biscuits gravy, and so much more. Close to home and affordable.

TV reception totally sucked. Complained at the front desk. Was told. They can't do anything about it. It because it's too hot.
All the rooms are like that.
No happy at all. Will never come back.

We stayed at this hotel while we were in Columbus for a funeral . I wasn’t expecting much given it was just a Holiday Inn but I have to say , it was a very pleasant stay . The staff was kind and accommodating. The breakfast was excellent, the front desk manager saw I was looking for coffee mid afternoon ,he offered to make a fresh pot and did exactly that! Which today with such poor customer service everywhere was refreshing. The hotel was so clean from the time we stepped through the doors, you could smell it , to the rooms themselves. It was so clean in fact that the next day before we checked out we realized a chocolate chip from a late night cookie was accidentally smeared on the sheet , we were dying laughing because it looked like poop and I wanted to make sure they didn’t think we reciprocated their cleanliness by leaving them with something so foul, so what was I to do but just tell them exactly what it was. Mortified and in a hurry I found a crumpled up receipt in my purse for paper and left a note on the back of it with a tip for the cleaning lady. We walked out giggling and hoping they got a laugh too . ( they probably still thought it was poop )
We definitely needed that laugh after such a sad funeral and visit. P. S , sorry about the sheet .

Fantastic place to stay. Checked in during evening hours on March 8th. Friendly and quick check-in and was thanked for staying there and being an IHG member. Our room was extremely quiet and clean. Breakfast was wonderful and had a lot of options. I personally think the pancake machine is the best. Bacon was crisp and tasty.

Stayed at this hotel two nights ago and it was one of the most pleasant stays I had at a hotel. The staff was very friendly and polite and the rooms are clean. Definitely recommend.

Very clean and comfortable rooms with extensive amenities. Hotel staff and management were courteous and very helpful in addressing my issues.

Reading these reviews , some of them seems personal. I have been staying at this hotel for the past 2 years and I have had issues, but the staff always take care of it right away. The entire property is super clean ,the staff is welcoming ,friendly and the hotel is also very quite, so if you enjoy a loud atmosphere, this hotel is not for you. The pool is superisingly warm during the cold season and breakfast is good as well. I always enjoy my stay, it's my home away from home.

Front desk person was very helpful and very pleasant to talk to, the hotel itself is very clean and the rooms are modern and very well maintained. Will be staying here again.

Stayed there on September 2024, had a good experience, room was clean,, there is also truck parking in the back, for about 3 or 4 trucks or you can also park at arbys,,,

I have no complaints at all. Large clean comfy rooms. I was surprised to find they are completely stocked with my favorite body wash and shampoo. I'm on the backside so it is quiet. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Staff are nice and helpful.

Awesome place! The workers there are very friendly, and the service is fast and simple.
Some rooms have a small quirk in them, but the beds and couches were always comfortable and well kept. Location is nice, right off the highway, but pending on when your going somewhere there can be a lot of rush hour traffic. Besides those small things the place is great!! 👍

Clean room with a big comfy bed. Needed to use the pull out for a little one and asked for extra sheets. Got them in minutes and they were still warm from the dryer. Great service on that from the night manager. Location is prime as it's really close to a highway exit. Not too noisy in that spot either so you can rest easy. We didn't have breakfast this time but had it in the past and it's always good and fresh. Parking is good here. No issues with getting into spots or navigating the lot. Good value, great place to stay. We will be back again.

We had a great experience during our stay. Easy checkin, staff are very helpful and pleasant. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. Our room was clean, you could tell they used some type of cleaner with bleach in it. Easy access to restaurants within ten minutes from hotel.
Housekeeping was top notch. The pool is open until it gets dark. They are working on getting the lighting fixed in there. Very nice place to stay and not overly expensive.

I checked in about 1030pm. I was given a room by mistake that was really dirty and hadn't been cleaned. I returned to the front desk and spoke with Sonya. She was very apologetic and kind. She fixed me right up with a different room. Very professional, and very friendly. I am in the area quite often for business. If everyone else is as kind and professional as she is, I will definitely be staying here again.

Best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had. The room is clean, booking was easy with a text option if we needed anything. Staff were friendly and helpful when ask for anything. There was a broken pancake machine that the kitchen not not only fix but then cooked me two pancakes without being asked. Front desk staff were also helpful offering advice on attractions in the local area and then asking how we spent our evening when we got back.

Vary quiet location right off the freeway
