Foxes Falls

I know every inch of these woods like the back of my hand. Plenty of off trail exploring like finding the view l, spelunking into Crevaces, Boulder Fields and Fissure Caves. Tread lightly on the land along the cliff line going north to northwest. One wrong move and not paying attention you can roll and ankle or worse, fall to your demise. Some cliffs rise 110 feet.

This is a hidden gem. Lived in the area for my whole life and don't know how it took me this long to go there. Wow! Beautiful!

4/2/2022 My dog, Odin and I journeyed to Fox Falls on Spinnerville Gulf Rd. Ilion NY today. Parked at the “road closed” barrier, (south end of this road) and slithered thru the barrier gaps, then up the old road we went.. this old road runs right next to the stream and there are multiple smaller waterfalls all along this road! Beautiful in itself! After walking a moderate steady uphill roadfor about 2O minutes, you come to a crossroad of sorts (theres a white stone bridge here) and there is a wide dirt/mud/ slate/rock path to your right that you must take (if youre eagle eyed, you will see a small wooden sign” Foxes Falls” nailed to a small tree here, pointing the way to Fox Falls! This part of the trail is on and off, stream/slate/mud riddled…so be warned, you need low boots, or possibly you'll end up with wet shoes.
The reward comes into sight in about 8 minutes,(yes, I tymed myself) you will see the mighty Fox Falls….and HIGH slate “walls” looming overhead on both sides of you! This falls just seems to come out of the sky! SOOOOO BEAUTIFUL and worth the walk!! Bring your camera!!
Please though, be careful if you go near those slate walls…. one little piece coming down on your head, could probably ruin your life,! So please use caution and don't be stupid!
Such a beautiful place! PS: there are tons of TICKS out already this year…ALWAYS CHECK YOURSELF AND PETS! (yes, i found three on us today!)

How do you get there? I just went on spinnergulf road but it was blocked off from a neighbors RV and it’s a dirt road? Do I have to take the dirt road up? Also posted no trespassing signs everywhere?

Nice hike in. Lots of streams to cross. I only wish the road was open down the hill :)

Kind of a trek to get to since the road is closed in both directions and no clear parking area, but totally worth it to visit!
