Antoinette provided fantastic service at the Heirloom Restaurant! We really appreciated her can-do spirit, kindness and thoughtfulness! The Crab and Lobster Seafood Roll was superb!

We did not stay here however we attended a Beautiful Wedding Reception which was absolutely wonderful.
The service staff was attentive and the food was delicious. We were treated beautifully.
*The hotel is a few blocks away from where you park at the South Gate ..you’ll walk thru the gated community to get to the hotel .. after a certain hour, they close all gates, and you have to find your way out at the main gate.We did not realize this & It took us a while, but we figured it out. It was harder to find the main gate in the dark. This is all part of the Chautauqua Institution.

Chataqua Institute is a great place, but getting around is not fun. Parking lot is a 15 -20 minute walk.

The Athenaeum is a trip back in time. Like the Chautauqua community, it inspires community, conviviality, and kindness. Yes, the rooms in this 1881 hotel are retrofitted to modern conveniences, so they can be kinda funky and maybe not for everyone. But when was the last time you had pressed butter rosettes for your morning toast? A bartender who’ll make you the perfect hot toddy when the summer weather suddenly turns rainy and cold? Staff who greet you with warm, genuine smiles and go out of their way to make you welcome? Dogs are part of the family. There are grand parlors, beautiful verandas, and cozy nooks and crannies where you can find either friends or solitude. The Athenaeum kinda feels like Grandma’s home, in the best possible way.

Very beautiful building, many older artifacts and pictures of the building and surrounding area! Love the fact you can dock a boat right outside of the hotel. Unfortunately no launching area but not a deal breaker! Will definitely be returning in the near future to stay again!

Mothers Day brunch was delicious. Food was high quality and fresh. Most likely the best brunch we've had over the years in this area. Staff was friendly and service was prompt and attentive. We were all very happy with our experience and plan to go back next year.

Visited Heirloom Restaurant on this visit grrrrrrr8 experience socially distanced ate on front porch overlooking Chautauqua Lake food and service were very good 6-25-22 We spent the night on a package room, gate pass, dinner and breakfast/brunch. Good value disappointing dinner room nice and clean w/a lake view. Bathroom Shower not very good. Sunrise was incredible. Outside needs attention; cleaning, cobwebs-etc., painting. Considering they just reopened for the season you'd think it would be in tip top shape.

I had my June wedding at athenaeum and it was breathtakingly beautiful. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is outstanding. And as for our wedding, our wedding planner Carly was amazing! I cannot say enough about how she took care of us an our wedding. From the day we first met with her she was always available for any questions we had (and there were plenty). She was extremely flexible with our out of the ordinary ideas. She took care of our wedding day and our breakfast seamlessly. I can't describe how delicious the food was! It was the best truffle ravioli I have had anywhere, not just for wedding food! Our guests included many foodies and they were impressed. Of course the location is gorgeous and historical, but everyone was friendly and helpful including Alexis the bell person who was at the bridal party's service throughout our trip. Scott the AV specialist was also great meeting with us at the rehearsal and flawlessly pulling off the tech for the ceremony. Request Carly and you will not be disappointed.

We were here during the off season and it was also during the 2020 pandemic. As we hoped, it was not at crowded and we had a lovely weekend getaway. Despite the circumstances, I thought the hotel did a wonderful job of making us feel welcome, but at the same time safe. Masks are required and all staff used masks and sometimes gloves. The "buffet" breakfast was well done with pre-wrapped pastries, canned juices, pre-made yogurt parfaits, and coffee service. Guests touched nothing... just ordered and then was handed a tray with all items placed by gloved staff. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. It was a much needed break from home for us and one of the safest options we could find. I look forward to staying here when there isn't a global pandemic!

Stayed at this hotel last weekend for a wedding. Absolutely gorgeous grounds and building, accomadating atmosphere, great food and an excellent bar. Staff was beyond amazing including, but not limited to the bartenders Kristina and Andy, the valet attendant Jon, and the receptionists including Alexis and Evan. Definitely would stay there again! Thank you so much for an unforgettable experience and I look forward to staying there next year!

Spectacular. 1800s historical hotel with so much beautiful & interesting architecture!! Right on lake chatauqua!! Absolutely stunning. In the coolest little complex called the Chautauqua Institute. Little shops, restaurants, tiny beach, etc all right there. Can't wait to come back!!

We had our wedding here at the Athenaeum. It was PERFECT! Carrie Gifford and her staff went above and beyond for us. Not only is this hotel beautiful, filled with classic charm and right on the lake with a gorgeous covered porch, but the staff were friendly and competent. I cannot recommend the Athenaeum enough!!! On pricing, the rooms for our guests were extremely reasonably priced as well as the food/drinks. Absolutely LOVE the Athenaeum. You will not be disappointed.

We visited here during the off season in May. It was an awesome experience! The food was terrific and the view ambiance was epic. When you go, be sure to dine outside on the porch. Chartreuse board was great!

Had dinner there with my husband and his parents. I had the rainbow trout with fingerling potatoes and roasted carrots. The trout wasn't very fishy. The potatoes were crispy and the roasted carrots were amazing. The only downfall is that they had no hard liquor what so ever, which is more point friendly for anyone doing weight watchers, but they did have bottles beer and wine options available.
