James and his team have only provided the best service for me and my family. First of all, James is an expert in the realm of bikes and can provide expert advice and services. He is a no-nonsense, straightforward guy, but he grows on you. They also have a couple guys working there who are dealing with mental health issues, but they're great at what they do. Heck, John fixed some of my car issues when I mentioned it in passing.

I write this because I came to the store the other day, and James told me about an incident regarding a customer who drove off without paying for a service. The customer wanted help changing his tire but didn't want to pay for the whole service of changing the tire. James decided to charge only for opening the axle, $10, so the customer could change his tire on his own. Reasonable guy, right? James didn't want to be held liable for whatever the bike owner did to his bike, so he asked the bike owner to pay for the service and change his tire outside the shop. The customer walked out, saying he'll change his tire real quick and come back inside to pay, but after failing to change his tire, threw his bike into the trunk, and got into his car. James ran out and knocked on the window (with his palm) to tell the customer to pay, but the man drove off. Turns out, the man left a nasty review, obviously leaving out key details. Shame on him.

James and Grace have been providing a great service for cyclists of all stages for years. Looks like they're making plans for retirement in a couple years; I don't know where else I can receive the same, excellent bike services.

James I will tell you I am extremely happy with you making sure my wife had an optimal second meeting with you today to find the bike that I truly wanted! From day one she said such great things from you and I have got to say I am extremely proud to have this bike especially knowing it’s from a local vendor that has made me feel they have gone above and beyond for me. This is by far my favorite gift I have received in such a long time! I will be sending you our referrals from this moment forward. Thank you so much for giving her the time we really wanted to have on our first visit! It has been such a pleasure.

We have been using Joyful​ Cycle for twelve years, ever since we moved to the area. We have bought several high-end road bicycles (Trek, Jamis) there over the years, along with related equipment, clothing, etc. We have found James and his staff to be very professional and very personable at all times. Whether we make an appointment for a tune-up or just show up unannounced for a few tweaks, James (the owner) and Joey (the mechanic) are always very helpful and friendly. We enjoy our visits to the shop, and we always come away ​completely satisfied. Our slogan is "support your local bike shop," which is very easy to do, given the excellent service we receive at Joyful​ Cycle. We highly recommend​ Joyful Cycle for all of your cycling needs!

First and foremost I want to thank James along with his wife and their staff for the best service that they provided to our bicycles. They offer good advice & suggestions with no expectations, and they work with their customers on reasonable quotes. I highly recommend this business.

Update on July 12, 2021:
This is a great bicycle shop. I have been a customer since when this business was located in nearby Highland Park. There is a good reason I have never stepped inside any other bicycle shop in over 10 years: this shop gets the job done right ... every single time! I am not a bicycle expert nor am I handy with bicycle repairs so I trust this shop to recommend new equipment as well as to repair my existing equipment. Interacting with the owner and his wife is always 100% satisfactory; they take the time to listen to me and to provide useful tips and solutions. I feel a sense of empathy from the owner whenever I speak to him. On my most recent visit to the shop, the owner did a quick on the spot inspection of my Trek bicycle and told me that it didn't need a full service (he could have earned $100+ for a full service that I had come in for). I was impressed and before I left the shop, I had bought nearly $300 of new equipment from him. The owner doesn't want to short change you, he is a smart businessman - please understand that before you go in.

I have bought 2 young adult bicycles for my kids at Joyful Cycles and I have had my hybrid bicycle serviced annually there a number of times. I have also bought other bicycle accessories worth hundreds of dollars from them over the years. Their service is top notch and they are very friendly people. There have been times when they didn't charge me anything for small issues that could be fixed on the spot. Yet this isn't a discount shop (as the owner himself put it once). Meaning you should expect to pay full price for bicycles and services. I believe the excellent service provided by the owner and the staff nearly justifies their prices. Once you go in the shop with this knowledge upfront, I believe you will definitely be pleased as I have been.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff are always there to help. I love supporting local businesses, especially when they do good work. I've brought bikes in more than once for repairs (I have boys... they're tough on the bikes) and not only do they do the repairs I asked for, Joyful always checks the brakes etc. to make sure we are as safe as possible when riding. They do great work for a fair price. What more can you ask for!?

This is a great bike store with AMAZING service! And to put the icing on the cake, they are really good people! Decided to pop into Joyful Cycle while we were in the neighborhood getting dinner. We'd been searching for a new great bike for my wife but haven't had any luck with the great 2020 bike shortage. We went into Joyful and was greeted by James who was very helpful and knowledgeable. He let us know what bikes he had coming in soon and what would be a great fit for my wife. We ordered a new Trek and some accessories and James came outside as well to take a look at our bike rack. I'll definitely be going back for my next bike because of James and his excellent support & service. We're super excited to pick up our new bike when it comes in.

Ordered a bike and a few accessories from Trek Bikes and selected Joyful for the assembly and home delivery. Got a call from James when all the items arrived at the shop, and the next day he delivered my new bike ready to ride. Happy with the bike and the service.

Quick and no-nonsense service! My husband got a baby seat installed on his bike last summer at Joyful, and our now 18-month-old is very demanding with bike rides. I went to another shop to try to get a baby seat holder installed on my own bike, and was told a special part was needed and we waited weeks, it never came. I brought my bike to Joyful and they were able to install a seat adapter in a matter of hours. A lifesaver!! Heading to a bike-ride-filled vacation this week, we are so grateful. Thank you!

Had an issue with my bike wheel that another bike shop couldn't fix. At Joyful Cycle, they were able to fix the issue in a matter of hours and explain the problem. They were very professional and friendly! I was so happy to have my bike back so quickly so I can ride over the weekend! They're definitely my go to bike shop from now on!

I had a perfect experience at Joyful. I spoke to the owner, and he listened every thing I wanted in a bike. Within a few moments he pointed me to the bike I soon purchased. He gave me a great deal, walked me through accessories I needed, and got the bike ready for me near instantly. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, in my opinion this is a great place to buy a bike, and it will be the only place I will go to in the future. Thanks guys

Had a great time shopping and spending time at Joyful! Owners/employees are friendly, knowledgeable, motivated and best of all don’t add any unnecessary pressure. Prices and selection was great! They’re working unbelievably hard especially given the circumstances. They’ll do whatever they can to make their customers happy and satisfied. I purchased my bike at Joyful 11 years ago and it still rides very well! I took it in for repairs last week and after the repairs were completed, the bike runs just as well! The owner, James Lee, even remembered me from when I first purchased the bike, which goes to show that they know how to take of their customers. Highly recommended!

Purchased a bike for my wife from Trek online and was led to this store as they do a home delivery. Given the current situation I went ahead with the purchase out of convenience but was glad that I did- They had a great follow up and delivered my bike to my house direct. The man I spoke to (I didn't get his name) was very pleasant and when he arrived he was masked and gloved- big thumbs up for that. Can't wait to hit some trails with the whole family now. The ownership is no nonsense, straightforward and gets right to the point. Didn't waste my time upselling me on a thousand products. Great listener who quickly figured out what I needed and how to get the bike to me in a timely manner. Which is kinda crazy to say in this new 'Covid cautious' world which has seen a manufacturing slowdown which increases the lead time for bikes. I was lucky enough to find one that I liked and was promised to get it in 1-2 weeks. Other guys told me 12 months. And prices that were unbelievable. Pay now and maybe get one a year later? No thanks. I prefer the order now with a deposit and pay later approach. The experience was so good that I ordered two bikes instead of one! I ordered it on Oct 1 and took delivery on Oct 15. Highly recommend Joyful.

Went to joyful this afternoon to have my bike fixed. The manager was so polite and helpful. He repaired it in minutes. He even helped me put a bike rack onto my car. Some of the best service I've ever had in a bike shop. I intend to be back there soon!

This is my "go-to" bike shop. I've been a regular for years, and happily so. We bought our bikes from them (Gary Fisher Mendota, disk brakes) years ago and they take care of all our bike needs - from fixing flats to replacing tires, inner tubes, chains, cassette, bike pumps, tune-ups, apparel, accessories, indoor bike resistance trainer for winter workouts, etc. I'm happy to go back time and again. They are a friendly "neighborhood" bike shop with deep respect for their community and a goal to be most helpful while supporting the great cause of good health and fun on the road.

I went into Joyful Cycle to inquire about a bike and what I got was an education and the best customer service I've probably ever had. Jonathan was very knowledgeable and really went above and beyond to accomodate me in every way. He was patient, attentive and made me feel comfortable about my purchase. I was very happy with my experience at Joyful Cycle and Fitness and thanks to Jonathan they now have a life long customer. I highly recommend this establishment for all of your cycling needs.

These boys are top notch, James and John, especially the mechanic, never seen anyone quite like him before. Anywhere. I was visiting from overseas a few months ago and had an issue with my derailleur. Only had to replace the chain, nothing more than that. Just superb.
