My son had a routine surgical procedure that ended with him being took back into surgery the following day. The care, compassion, quick response from admitting to the CRNA going into surgery with him was nothing short of amazing. After it was all over, I reflected and was amazed at how in that moment, I was made to feel as if my son was the only patient in the hospital getting care. I know he wasn’t, but that was how I felt in the heat of the moment. The ER staff was amazing to see in action, the CRNA took extra time to explain what would occur and how it would be different from the prior day surgery, the recovery nurses from the prior day checking in on him and me. They absolutely cared for me as mom , as much as they did my son.

I can’t thank everyone enough for their role in this very difficult day.

ORHC from the checking staff to the cleaning staff,you guys went above and beyond in an “emergency” situation where sadly our son Archie needed transportation to Iowa city. The staff and care team made sure that due to Iowa city’s strict guidelines lines that my son (hunter)was involved in meeting Archie while we were there and sadly with him being 7 years old he didn’t understand what was happening and the doctor and staff made sure not to talk down to him due to him being so young, yet educated him on his Cleft lip and cleft palate. Making sure to console him in ways that I can’t even describe! My son and my mother got that one on one time, as well as your care team working as fast as they could to assure that I got my time as well. Everyone jumped through hoops so I could be educated as well as taken care of to be properly transferred as well. You made sure that I was okay considering all the wild emotions that were involved and your nurse Leah Miller took time off her busy schedule to make sure I was in the correct mind set with all these emotions,that if I had anything regarding my situation that my answers wouldn’t be disregarded. You kept my my husband involved with update on Archie and myself as he did stay the night at home with our son and you gave him a peace of mind and gave my son proper closure.I can’t stress how grateful we are as well as impressed with the care team, the cleaning staff and very smiling face we encountered. Especially still reaching out when we were in Iowa city and still reaching out to see if we need anything being home. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

My adult sister with special needs was there and the staff treated her like a queen. She was there almost a week and every person that took care of her was top notch.

Just recently had my knee replaced at ORHC. Justine in one day surgery was wonderful and the fourth floor recovery nurses, Jenna Marlow, Danna Dimmot and Brianne Block made the experience much better than expected.

I couldn’t have been more pleased with the care I received. The employees were kind and considerate.

I don't use my real name on apps like this.. but I wanted to take the time to thank Veronica and Raelynn yesterday. Each of you are amazing. You were both friendly and professional and did a great job at listening to my needs and assisting me.
Veronica- You took the time to listen to my concerns and you got on the phone and spoke with others to see how I could be better assisted with getting labs done. You kept me updated and in the loop. You also even walked me back to the lab. Thank you for being so friendly and understanding and great at problem solving. You handed me off to Raelynn.
Raelynn- You took the time to also listen to me and find my lab orders and also draw my labs. Not only that but you also were very efficient and helped make me comfortable. You were also able to get the needle in first try! You also explained to me what steps you'd be taking once my results came back.
So again thanks to both of you for letting me tell you what my needs were, solving the issue, being efficient, friendly and professional. Please do screenshot this and give it to your supervisors because they deserve to know how great both of you are! 👍

I was seen within 20 minutes of arriving to the admitting desk. I came in with a laceration to my hand that needed sutures. The nurse was very friendly and offered me a drink right away. The bombshell Nurse Practitioner (Cathy) came in with a student np to see me within 10 minutes. She asked permission for the student to put in my sutures. I consented. She skillfully coached/observed the student who did an amazing job as well. I can't say enough great things about my provider and her positive bedside rapport. Her infectious smile and laugh we're much appreciated to help ease any anxiety I had about the procedure. I was extremely pleased with my emergency room experience. I never post reviews, however, I felt obligated to do so after receiving such great care. A big thanks to my Rockstar Nurse Practitioner, Cathy.

I had carpal tunnel surgery at ORHC a several months ago. From the moment I walked in the door of the hospital, I felt confident in my decision to have my procedure there. Checking in was easy, the nurses in One Day Surgery was awesome, the operating room staff was very helpful and thoughtful, and the recovery room nurses made sure I was comfortable. Dr. Nicholson was fantastic. I am so thankful that we have this regional hospital right in my hometown. Thanks to all the staff that took great care of me and kept my family informed even during a pandemic.

I went through 1 day surgery a couple weeks ago. Every single person that I came in contact with at the hospital was wonderful. They were all friendly, and very helpful. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Thank you all!!

I had an outpatient procedure here last week and everyone was excellent! The staff even sent me a follow up “get well soon” card in the mail. I often visit Des Moines to monitor my health conditions, but this procedure reminded me that we have wonderful medical teams of doctors and nurses right here in Ottumwa who are working hard to provide excellent care!

In the last 5 years I have had a knee replacement, two carpal tunnel surgeries (each hand), throat stretched, and a Colonoscopy. Excellent care from the time that I checked in. One Day surgery made me feel at ease at all times. Knowledgeable, caring, and great at putting the IV in. Great experience in the room right before surgery. Surgeries have all been successful. I’ve always recommended Ottumwa Regional to family and friends for over 50 years. Keep up the Great Experience to your patients.

My husband had an angiogram at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center .His doctor was wonderful and he explained everything to him before he went to surgery and then after he came back he explained everything to him what he had found and what he did to him. All the staff there was very good to him from the time he walked in the door until he left. They treated him like he was a somebody and that they really cared about him. We would highly recommend them to anybody.

I had a wonderful experience at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center. The doctors, nurses, and staff were very polite, caring, and professional. I'm thinking that the people complaining on this review are the types that complain about everything, or were upset that they were there in the first place.

I was hospitalized @ your facility for 1
week& 1/2 . Everyone took good care of me. Explained things thoroughly. I was satisfied with my care. Thank you ! All my care was in ACUTE CARE. !

I had to go to the emergency room because I felt like I was having a heart attack but it turned out to be a panic attack. The nurse staff was so kind and Dr. Randy made me feel heard and sent me home with my meds until I get into my appointment later this month. I was very well taken care of. Thanks to all your ER staff.

Great customer service from door to door. I've been going to outpatient therapy for the last few months and not only has my therapist, Glen, changed my life and been my complete support system, but each and every staffer I interact with at the hospital has been an absolute gem. I highly recommend getting treatment at this hospital. If you need physical therapy - ask for Glen!!

I have had two visits to ORHC in the past year. Dr Ortell performed a colonoscopy which went very smoothly. I visited the ER in April, 2021, and had very little wait time. They took an x-ray of my shoulder, diagnosed that it was broken and didn’t require surgery, put a sling on it and sent me home with care directions. The nurses, x-ray technician, and doctors were wonderful both times and their care was excellent. I feel very fortunate that we have access to our regional hospital right here in Ottumwa.

When my husband was having what he thought was a heart attack, he received nothing but EXCELLENT care in the ORHC ED! Thank goodness it turned out to be nothing but a panic attack. But the physicians and nurses took GREAT care of him during his stay, they were very attentive and trustworthy and they even diagnosed an underlying issue that he was able to take back to his family doctor and resolve. THANK YOU ORHC!

Received surgery to remove a cyst on my left arm. Dr Ortell and his entire staff in the orthopedic center and the operating team were superb. Had a wonderful visit and would gladly recommend to others.
