THIS is Texas bbq!! The perfect meal after a long day of driving. There is free parking all around the area which I appreciated. We found a close spot in the parking garage on the back side of the restaurant.
It’s counter service and bbq wrapped in butcher paper with a large selection of yummy sides. The brisket would melt in your mouth and the chicken was just as good!
The baked beans had an extra kick (not spicy) to them that I have not experienced and couldn’t put my finger on but so good!
The cocktails were in jelly jars but strong and tasty! A great value for an enormous amount of food!

Absolutely the best place in East Dallas! Nicole is the best bartender. The 2 dudes behind the counter provided us with the most choice cuts of brisket , burnt ends and sausage! The youngins loved it here. Bought several shirts! So happy to be here. So sad to leave here for Chicago!

Great BBQ and the brisket was fantastic. The stuffed jalapeños and street corn were all hand made and great. Party got the sausage which surprise surprise was also great. The real glass bottle real sugar Classic Coca Cola too.

The absolute only negative was we were there for too long and I ended up smelling like a BBQ pit well in to the evening. I was not mad though!

One of the best barbecues I've had in the Dallas area! Lockhart Smokehouse has a simple menu, but they get everything right. The brisket was beyond juicy, and the flavor was great. All of the other sides were really good, and I was especially a fan of the spicy pickles. The service is kind of a pick up and serve yourself situation, but the workers are glad to help you make choices in the menu. Despite it being a quiet night, the manager showed great attention to caring for his place. Finally the decorations are nice. On one wall you get a combination of Texan decor and the history of the place, and on the other just a nicely decorated bar. While the price is high, it is rightly so for a place well kept in downtown Plano, and the food is delicious.

This is easily our favorite bbq place. I have never been served anything short of delicious. Some favorites are the burnt ends and street corn.

The brisket is tender and juicy. I like the "wet" portions that have a little more fat. Make sure to get a Popper, they're delicious! Service is friendly and helpful. Management goes the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction. I got some Ribs which were a little dry for my taste and management swapped them out for brisket.

This place is off the chain!! Can I get and AMEN from anyone who has eaten here?
FOOD: i had the brisket (with fat) it was so flavorful and moist. The bark was perfect. Also had the jalapeno popper. There are no words. It was delicious. Also had the potato salad which had so much flavor. Im not usually a potato salad fan so I was very pleasantly surprised. The other person dining with me had the street corn. It wasn't just corn, it was corn with meat, some sauce and other things. It could have been a meal all its own.
ATMOSPHERE; small place with a saloon like vibe mixed with a family bbq joint friendliness.
SERVICE: Madelyn worked her fanny off taking care of the tables, the bar and the food order counter. She did it with a smile and a very kind attitude.
WOULD I GO BACK? Yes, a thousand times yes.

This was a really good lunch 😋, we had the sliced beef plate with half moist and half dry. Then we mix it up and add BBQ sauce. We also ate the smoked baked beans that had a great 👍 kick to them. Some bread and Texas tea made for some very good BBQ. We also ate a Bacon 🥓 wrapped jalapeno 😄 that was good but not to hot 🔥.The guys and gals working here couldn't have been more helpful. I love the butcher style of paper for the wrap. From some of the other reviews I was worried about the experience and was ready to spend $100 but all the above was $49.00 for two lunches. That's more than fair for BBQ from anyplace. Two 👍👍 thumbs up for Lockhart's.

Texas BBQ at its finest !! I had to try a little bit of everything, I had the beef ribs, the Whiskey cooked Turkey, and the amazing brisket ! All these were amazing but My favorite was the Turkey because it’s not any other Turkey I had at other spots. I tried some of their sides Mac n cheese, Banana Pudding, and their potato salad ! My favorite was the banana pudding! Wow I wish I ordered more of it ! They also had an open bar with tons of options on draft. Other than the food the cashier was helpful and restaurant was clean and tons of places to sit!

I was in Plano from out-of-town for an event and found Lockhart online. My family and I checked it out, and we were NOT disappointed. This was one of the best all-around Texas BBQ experiences that I've had. We hung out until closing time with Kimmy, Uncle Joe and Pablo and had a great time. Definitely recommend the brisket and the slaw. Will surely be back any time that I'm in the area.

I thought I added a review about the Lockhart Smokehouse already but google is asking for more. I was in town to visit my daughter and her husband. They recommended Lockhart’s. Situated on a very cool, trendy street with lots of other restaurants. I was impressed with the simplicity and the flavorful barbecued chicken. The dining room was interesting with lots of nostalgia making feel more authentic. I along with my children highly recommend this stop along your journey. If I lived in town I would be there often.

Kid approved! Go for Tuesday lunch; around 11am will beat the crowd and get you a seat. Tuesday's special is street tacos and street corn. We had to go through the line twice since our 2 year old ate an adult size portion. Delicious. We ordered 2 street tacos, 2 packs of mac n cheese, street corn dressed, deviled eggs, banana pudding, and a half pound of brisket for lunches later in the week. Ty!

Like stepping back to an era that no longer exists and tantalizing your taste buds to food that has been made with love from the house made bacon wrapped poppers to the brisket and smoked short ribs topped off by house made blue cheese coleslaw and the icing on top off that food coma are their brisket devil eggs!! WOW! Texas knows how to do BBQ!

The brisket, ribs, and sausage were all superb. Service, too.

Cons:
The slaw was pretty bad, though - drenched in sauce, and spicy (why does slaw need to be spicy?). The other side options didn't look all that good either. Their sides should be as good as their meats.

Also, a counter-serve restaurant that doesn't give you trays is crazy. You need to go from the counter to your table, juggling items in your hand. Makes no sense, and there's an insane amount of paper wasted, and there's no need.

I’ve been to most of the smoke houses in the north Dallas areas, and all of them have their strong points, Lockhart has many strong points, I love their ribs, and brisket, the ribs are cooked to perfection not overly tender. I like my ribs to have enough pull that when I bite I get only that mouthful, and it comes off the bone clean. Lockhart ribs do just that and have an excellent smoked flavor, by far my favorite rib in the city so far! The brisket is smoky and flavorful with a tender pull and not dry at all. I love the deviled eggs made with brisket, very unique! I also love their beans thick and smoky with a little heat at the end, simply delicious . Lockhart smokehouse is one of my favorite places to get my BBQ fix!!!!

I travel for work been through about 40 states, and love trying the various foods as I go. Sat down at Lockhart Smokehouse for some burnt ends and was not prepared for the delectable and savory master piece I was confronted with. The main course melted in my mouth and the side of Mac n cheese was rich and filling. Special shout out to Kimmy and Adrian for excellent service.

First time trying Lockhart. Best Sliced Brisket was very moist, light smoke. Would of liked a little more crust. The sausage was very good also. Now the Spicy Mac&Cheese and the Lockhart Cole Slaw was spicy and very delicious.

Everything was sold by Market Price, I would of preferred a plate 2 or 3 meat price like most places. I was a little shocked with the price but had to try the location. Everything was top tier cool interior. Looked like they had enough cliental to get those prices. Highly recommend to try the location. Parking is in the rear.

First time trying Texas BBQ being from Utah... Hands down miles better than anything from back home. Best brisket I've ever had. Such a chill and comfortable vibe inside. Nom nom nom.

We tried the Beef brisket, sausage, pork spare ribs, Mac and cheese and the blue cheese slaw. Everything was top tier. Highly recommend.

We ordered ribs and brisket. Both were tender and juicy and delish. The staff was great, very attentive, and very friendly. The margarita was one of the best I’ve tasted. Oh…and the deviled eggs…OMG!!! Please try them when you visit. We will definitely be back!!! 😀

Lockhart is always a stop over when in Dallas. The Plano location has the Loaded Potato. You will be loaded up after eating it. The food is consistently good. The service is always friendly.
The Lockhart in Bishop Arts District is a nice treat. You get to walk around the neighborhood and see the stores and bars.
