If you are driving from Knoxville to Nashville, TN or viceversa it’s a must you need to visit Monterey, TN exit 300. One half mile from I-40. Come and try their food it’s the best Mexican food you’ll find in the area. The minute you walk in the door you’ll get the attention like you are at home! Great food and excellent customer service! Price on the menu it’s reasonable. The owners is real friendly, his daughter a young girl full of energy and extremely friendly with everyone. She’ll call amigo right way!! Their tacos are delicious, the carne asada it’s excellent!

Our family loves this place. We make the 20mins drive for delicious authentic food. The owners are super sweet and their daughter is usually our server. She really sweet also and always checks on us and even knows what we typically order 😆 (we’ve been coming for years) I saw a few comments about the wait in the reviews and I think the food worth the wait but what we’ve done in the past is call in our order and they’ll start on it.. you just let them know that it’s to eat there! Definitely a hidden gem!

Great customer service. Large selection of herbs, spices, dry goods, hats, boots, and a great restaurant. 10/10 make a stop. Greatest little bit of comfort on a road trip.

Great home grown restaurant. Not only was the food great but we got to go shopping as well. This place has a little bit of everything. Boots.. Hoosier candy.. yum.... This place is not to be missed....

We found this little amazing authentic shop/restaurant on our way to Columbia, TN, how lucky are we! So good and the store was adorable and so well priced. We got the kids some cookies. They had homemade breads, pork belly and more! Go visit you won't regret it!

Great authentic food, fantastic salsas! Good service, takes a little bit longer to get the food but worth the wait.

If your looking for great authentic Mexican food look no further. If you want wanna be so called Mexican food then go to Taco Bell. This hidden gem is it. Nice decor our server Sara was friendly, awesome service.
Prices very reasonable. Portions sizes were huge.
I was surprised by large selection of Spanish products including Sazon, canned goods, Mexican sodas, baked goods, candies, etc. heck they even have boots and blankets.

Food is amazing! Very Authentic.

The server was exceptional. The steak burrito was very good and reasonable priced. Fresh cilantro. We've driven by for years and never knew it was more than just a Hispanic grocery store. The kitchen is the truck in front of the store. They have restaurant tables inside. You also order and pay inside.

This one is near the top of our list (and we like to frequent Mexican restaurants all over the country.) Why? 1. Food temperature. Salsa was cold. Cheese was hot. And fajitas were still warm when we were done with the meal! 2. Authentic. Very obvious it was family owned, family run. Some may not like kids all over the place, but it felt like we were supporting someone with our money, not just the unfortunate cost of good food. 3. The salsa. I judge a place hard by its salsa. Not only was it cold, but it was dang fresh.
The only areas of improvement would be employee training, and overall cleanliness of food area.
Overall, I'd highly recommend this place. It looks like they got their start out of a food truck which is fun too.

More Authentic than most. I love their burritos. My wife and I like buying our corn tortillas from the store.

Absolutely loved it. Born and raised in San Diego and spending a lot of time in Mexico, I miss the real taste. It's so hard to find real Mexican food out here and this place brought me home! All I needed was a Corona! Great friendly people and the store has an awesome selection too! A must stop for me now when I travel through!! Thanks amigos!

Amazingly delicious fresh food, with tacos so fresh as to be cooked just for this meal, and a friendly and charming waitress. I will surely stop in again when I'm in the neighborhood!

I went here with my son and daughter in law, they love to find these diamonds in the rough type of restaurants, and the food was great as was the staff. Very authentic Mexican food!! I would definitely recommend this place to eat!

Great little store if you need ANYTHING Mexican. From pastries to sodas/candies to cactus and tomatillos they have it. I bought several varieties of dried chilies and the pan to make tamales. Although the ones they sell there are generally pretty good.
