We are local to this diner but rarely go as it’s a tourist spot for those making the Route 66 drive! However, it’s a nice spot to enjoy a bit of coffee and have a simple breakfast on occasion, seating is limited so you have to time it just right or you find yourself waiting along the wall. They have expanded the parking which is a nice improvement! If you have a little one who loves the movie Cars this is a great stop for you as they have cars decor throughout the entire restaurant! The waitstaff is more often than not very pleasant. However, it’s hard not to feel like you’re being rushed as I mentioned seating is limited.. maybe 12 tables, not very large. Overall, definitely worth a visit at least once!

Lightning McQueen FANS Will Love this place!

Every inch of this place screams Route 66 Attraction worthy of the sign outside the Restaurant. It Will take you back to 1939 when it first opened. Dawn Welch was tge inspiration behind Sally Carrera in the Pilar film CARS.

Inside you will see posters from tge movie, collectively items all around and a friendly staff welcoming every hungry traveler with a welcoming hello and make you feel right at home.

The food is the usual burgers and fries Plus more. Their food choices are so many that it calls for a menu almost as huge as our table!

We ordered the bacon Cheese burger and the mushroom Swiss burger. Both were Very tasty and the latter was never short of a hearts serving of tender mushrooms in every bite. Our dessert was Dean’s grandma’s peach cobbler with the scoop of icecream araling the deal on a hot day.

Ambience was CARS all the way.

Service: A+++

Stop by. You wont regret it!

Love this restaurant and the Cars memorabilia. They brought the wrong order to my wife... but she ended up liking the grilled cheese so much she was glad they messed up.
Buffalo burger was good but a little bland.

We will be back. Everything was delish!!! All the ingredients were fresh, and all the items were homemade. I loved the cormeal in the batter of the onion strings. We will definitely be back again. Also, they gave a great collection of Oklahoma and Rt66 souvenirs. This is a must stop at restaurant. It is worth the drive.

The Rock Café in Stroud, OK, an historic restaurant on the famous Route 66 takes its name from the local sandstone used in its construction.

Originally built in 1936 and opened in 1939, the Rock Café reopened on May 29, 2009 after extensive repair by historic preservationist due to damage from a 2008 fire. The restaurant's cookbook, written during the rebuilding effort, was published in November 2009.

I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with extra pickles and it was ultimately scrumptious! Lots of flavor with a equal amount of toppings on it. The fried okra and green tomatoes was good as well. They fried it just right! It’s been awhile since I’ve had green tomatoes and they were very well cooked!!! The staff made it feel even more welcoming along with the decor of the place. It was very comfortable and homey. Overall had a very great experience and can’t wait to come back!

My wife and I are HUGE Route 66 fans and we've wanted to visit this place since doing half the route from Oklahoma to California years ago. We finally made it today!

We both ordered Buffalo Burgers, fries and got souvenir cups. For dessert, we had the Poor Man's Pecan Pie, which is actually oatmeal pie with vanilla ice cream on it. It was delicious! The burgers and fries were also great! The servers were all very attentive and friendly and it wasn't too crowded.

Afterwards, we visited the gift shop which is basically attached allowing you to go look around and pay for everything at once if you wish. While we were pleased with the food, we weren't honestly that impressed with the gift shop. It was very cold and the merchandise desperately needs to be restocked. It felt more like a shop going out of business which is sad. There were no shirts my size and the shirts run much smaller than the tags say. Prices were on the high side for both the restaurant and the gift shop.

Overall, we came for the experience and I'd return. I would still recommend it but be ready to spend some money. The burgers are about $16 each.

We're still hoping to meet Dawn someday as well! They said she's in Mexico. Hopefully she's having a great time!

I had some cabin fever and headed out on Route 66 to chillax some and had a craving for Spaetzle and I new just a place to get it. Normally I pair it with Schnitzel but I changed up a bit with Chicken fried stead. It was a wonderful meal and excellent company with the ladies as apparently I was the last one in the place tonight. Great trip, Great food, Good times.

Really awesome place. Right on Route 66. May be old and rustic inside, but the atmosphere is fun. The food was great too. Good burgers and I got an awesome, almost too bud to eat, Reuben.

I live in Tulsa and have a friend that lives in Oklahoma City. We frequently meet “in the middle” to grab a meal and visit. Today we chose Stroud, OK and did a google search for places to eat. We ran across Rock Cafe that had a 4.5 star rating and 1300 reviews. We figured we couldn’t go wrong here. We picked the right spot. 👍🏼. If you’re from out of town, sign the book. 😊

After a disappointing road trip I Googled the town and found this tiny gem. My family and I LOVED it! Definitely the bright spot of our day. (2 teenage girls were even semi-impressed enough to put their phones down. 😱) Everything we tried was great.

Listen if you are ever in Stroud on Rt 66 you got to eat here. The service is absolutely amazing and the food is even better. My favorite is the Chicken Fried Steak. You can taste the care and love that the cooks put into their food. I live in the area and substitute for the local schools and seeing the the kids working here does my heart good like I said the service is excellent. They have plenty of parking and a place for busses too. Like I said if you are traveling the Mother Road stop by get a bite to eat enjoy the Oklahoma hospitality and oh yeah go to the gift shop I promise you won't be disappointed.

We are from Tulsa and stopped in for lunch today. Super sweet and friendly staff, awesome atmosphere, and the food was absolutely outstanding! Best I’ve had since my trip to Nashville last year. Everything was amazing, from the cheeseburger to the chicken fried steak to the fresh catfish! We will definitely be coming back soon! Thank you, Rock Cafe!

This is a must stop place in Oklahoma. The menu had a nice variety of American food that included a few German dishes that were too perfection. It's rare to find jäger, schnitzel spaetzle, they also had bison burgers and daily specials. The portions were more than enough for everyone and the staff there was incredibly friendly.

My husband eats country/chicken fried steak in every state we travel through. He ranked this one the 2nd best that he has ever eaten (that says A LOT!) I had the fried green tomatoes and they were good. The batter was a little different from the fried green tomatoes that I have had in other places (a little thicker and had some spice to it), the tomatoes were juicy - overall I liked them. I then had a dish that I had never had before called “Spaetzle" which are tiny dumplings that are fried in a skillet or on a griddle I think. It was called "Rock Cafe Spaetzle”, which had these tiny dumplings topped in bacon, tomatoes, bell peppers and a lot of cheese. It was too much cheese for me, so I scooped it to the side and what was under was very good and very unique. The servers were very on top of everything, quick and extremely friendly. I would definitely come back and next time I will be trying the Oatmeal Pie (it looked and sounded delicious, but I was just to full).
