The Sawmill Cafe and Catering

Great place for some great local food. Laid back, casual atmosphere. For reference I paid well under $20 for a shrimp and flounder platter, and around $15 for a fried oyster platterand it was excellent food. The staff are very nice and engaging. We always enjoy or stops here. Great place for families.

A group of us have been meeting for brunch here every week for years. Staff are always pleasant and most know our coffee and drink preferences. The atmosphere is not the building, it is the staff and patrons. Walking inside is like walking into your friendly neighbor's kitchen and being greeted by them with a smile.

I love this place for so many reasons. First and foremost you can’t go wrong with some good homestyle southern cooking next the staff is always a joy to be around. Sometimes when I don’t feel like cooking for myself, I’ll take myself here because I know the food is gonna be good and the staff is always, so kind. Next I never leave there a stranger. Anybody who goes here always leaves with a new friend. I’m grateful for a place like this to exist in the community and continue to instill traditional values with some good home cooking.

Really good and friendly service. The food is always hot. The salad was extra fresh, and the ranch dressing is house made. Patient, senior friendly, and the manager walks around and greets the customers. You don't get that anymore.

It was very hot today so we drove down the street to enjoy prime rib dinner night! You can’t find a better bargain than this place and a friendly local restaurant! Our waitress Kyra did a great job and she is just one of the great team here!

This is that little local town secret. Literally a mom and pop shop that is outstanding at making food and at a great price.

This was my first time at this location and it definitely won't be my last! The food was amazing! I had an awesome Bloody Mary before dinner, a fresh side salad and a fabulous shrimp and grits plate. Kyra was our waitress and she alone earned 5 stars. She was fast, friendly, professional and had a great sense of humor and a wonderful personality! I was really blown away with my dining experience tonight. The best of all the Saw Mill locations! Hands down!

I eat here about 2 times a week take out and it’s always phenomenal no complaints at all!

WOW!! WOW!! I travel a lot for work and I am always hungry & Love to eat...and thus eat a lot of fast food meals bc rarely there aren't other options. I was in Wilmington racing to the airport but was starving and I tripped across Sawmill hoping food wasn't bad and I AM SOOO GLAD I DID!
Relaxed atmosphere and great menu selections... good hot coffee was at the table within in minutes of sitting. My travel companion & I both got THE LUMBERJACK... it seemed appropriate since the place is called Sawmill.
3 pancakes ~ 2 Eggs ~ Bacon ~ Potatoes (you can swap all above for other items).
Pancakes maybe be THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD!! Eggs perfect, bacon crispy (without having to ask), and delicious potatoes. Did I say how delicious those Pancakes were!?!?... they had a hint of vanilla and/or nutmeg! Wow!
We asked what the secret ingredient was and chef told us ~ LOVE!

Cannot say enough about the staff... they were just as awesome as the Pancakes!

So if you find yourself in Wilmington check out Sawmill... and ask for Pancakes with extra Love! You won't regret it! I PROMISE!!

June2023-We frequent Sawmill alot. When we go, we usually go for the shrimp. When we say we want crispy HOT fries, that doesn't mean warm fries. So frustrating. Also, when we order seafood, we want hushpuppies. We don't want to hear, "we are too busy, we aren't cooking any". NOT acceptable! We waited a freaking hour to get a table, what's 10 more minutes to get hushpuppies and HOT fries. If this continues, we'll have to find a place that serves it all. We went to Sawmill Restaurant in Castle Hayne last night. It had been raining and as I went in, they had a double rainbow behind them. Cool picture. Dinner was great. Hubby had fried shrimp and I had a grilled chicken salad. Server was very friendly and fun.

Top notch people serving great food. Small capacity, so get there early. Not a lot of places like this anymore. Get the collards.

The food is always top notch. Today we had meatloaf. It was some kind of good. the service, was lacking a little today.
Our server's name was Megan G.
She must have had a off day. Most times the service is awesome. After Megan picked up the hush puppys I was Eating and threw table trash on them, I asked why are you picking up food that im eating? She grabbed the garbage off and said "would you like them back". I said not after trash was put on them. she said with attitude " would you like me to get you 3 more hush puppys" I said no thank you.
then when she picked up my wifes plate , she looked at me, and with a smart attitude said "OH, DID YOU WANT TO EAT THIS TOO.
We could deal with Her poor service, But there was no reason for the blatant Rudeness.

Love this place, always have fantastic food. Authentic Southern choices and great portions. The servers are super attentive and speedy.

I ear here often. Prices are better than going to the grocery store. Good food and service. Breakfast is awesome.

In town on business, needed a quick lunch that wasn't fast food. They were really busy, but brought our food pretty fast and it all was very good homestyle cooking! Staff was kind and attentive. Definitely stopping here for breakfast next time in town.

A great place to eat southern style breakfast

My sis and I drove an hour each to meet here for breakfast. Not only was the food fantastic...but they had good southern favs, like a fried bologna sandwich, biscuits n sausage gravy, and liver puddin. Denise, our waitress, was an absolute doll...friendly and helpful. We chose to walk after breakfast, and she recommended downtown Wilmington. It was perfectly charming with many home gardens, historic houses, and a barage of patios/courtyards. Cannot wait to visit here again!!

This was my first time eating there and I rate it comparable to many nehborhood cafes.

Best tasting food in town.
