China House Restaurant

China House is a gem of a Chinese restaurant. Despite its small size, the place is impeccably clean and welcoming. The waiter was incredibly friendly and attentive, making our dining experience all the more enjoyable. As for the food, it was simply outstanding. Each dish was bursting with flavor, and the portions were more than generous. I had the soup, chicken with mixed vegetables, and beef with mixed vegetables, all of which were absolutely delicious. My kids devoured their shrimp fried rice and couldn't stop raving about it. If you're in the mood for authentic and mouthwatering Chinese cuisine served in a cozy atmosphere, China House is the place to be.

Called in a to go order (online menu is not accurate). Got apps - Chicken wings, vegetable spring rolls and shrimp egg rolls (2 per order). House fried rice (chicken, shrimp and pork). Chicken Cashew (only comes in large, served w white rice) and finally, Hot Sour Soup served with crispy fried wontons.
Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. The fried foods weren't overly greasy. The soup was thick w crisp ginger, tofu and veggies. The fried rice was moist and tender. Three fresh fortune cookies topped it all off. This was the first of many future orders. Convenient to Sugar Mountain. Dine in offers a $9.95 buffet. Great prices. Super nice Employees.

Delicious and quick! Just go in and order food! We got fried rice, beef and broccoli and shrimp with vegetables. The food was flavorful and not oily. The vegetables were fresh! Nothing was overcooked. I highly recommend this spot for takeout! Very satisfied!

Best fix for your chinese food cravings. Anytime we’re in town, we always get takeout. The restaurant itself is small, never ate in. You can’t go wrong with the basic dishes like general Tao’s chicken, orange chicken, etc. Their spicy beef is pretty good and comes with lots of veggies. The shrimp egg roll is ok, they use a medium sized shrimp in it with barely any veggie fillings. So it’s pretty much just shrimp and the egg roll skin. The shrimp with lobster sauce is always a must get especially when in town during the winter.

China House Restaurant is awesome! Better tasting food than many places I’ve been to back in Raleigh, NC. In the five days we were on vacation we had China House twice!
General Taos chicken was so good, the sauce was rich. There was more chicken than bread in the container. I would recommend anyone in the area giving China House a chance.

I haven’t received my food yet but I’m waiting at the restaurant and the employees were very polite, did not make me repeat my order a million times, and the restaurant looks very clean!

Best American-Chinese food I’ve had. Always good food. The main lady is great, straight to the point and quick. She is our favorite person to talk to when we order. They are always quick to get our food out, we just go in and grab it and then we’re out. A lot of reviews say negative of this, I’m not sure why. It’s better service than other restaurants around Banner Elk area. Then again, we’re going for good food, not a conversation. We order here more often then we should, a guilty pleasure I suppose. I highly recommend this place to everyone in the area.

A lunch buffet for $5.85 is awesome and tasty and quick, it is the best Asian experience in the Banner Elk area of North Carolina

I love their food. It is better than most Chinese I've ever had. They know what their doing. I love the buffet and those tasty little doughnut-like puffy things, can't get enough. Going to get Chow Mein next time in. Lynn Doolittle

Excellent General Tao’s Chicken, Egg Rolls, & Shrimp Sauce. And the prices are very reasonable. I can’t wait to try some of the other dishes.

I went here for a Christmas lunch and they were having a buffet special. Super cheap, and the food was very good! I often get sick and bloated, as most people do after pigging out on Chinese food, and that didn't happen after eating here so I was pleasantly surprised! All the staff were very kind and helpful. I thought it was nice to see all these different people gathered inside on Christmas afternoon for lunch, it had such a homey feel to it! I went here twice on my short trip, and each time was great.

It was late and was not expecting much.
However, it was a delight seeing the food come out so great. Chicken was great and lots of it too!

In summary they don’t cheap you out here and give you the quality as well.

Excellent take out option during pandemic! Lunch menu is only $6 and portions are regular menu size. Delicious Won Ton soup and my spicy beef was as good as any I have had. Give this little place a shot. Right across from Food Lion.

We had the buffet today, food was hot, fresh and delicious. Staff was very nice. My only negative was the buffet was very small, not many items and no crab Rangoon.

This place has the best Chinese food in the area I may be biased but I prefer it over any other. It's little and the lobby / dining area isn't super fancy but the food is great and the price could be worse.

The staff was so incredibly nice. I got there 3 minutes before closing after driving 9 hours and they were kind and made amazing Chinese food. Their tofu with mixed vegetables is awesome and their brown sauce is the best.

Oh man. You can’t get down-to-earth traditional Americanized Chinese food like this anywhere else close by. If you’re from a large urban city like NYC or LA, you will get the vibes

I lived in Banner Elk for fifteen years and three years ago I moved to Athens GA. Nothing compares to this place. It is the BEST Chinese restaurant. Seriously. I might be biased because I love it, but I've searched Athens low and high for something just as good and never found it. Eat here, you'll love it! Favorites- eggdrop wonton soup, krab wontons, sesame chicken, fried dumplings. Try it, you'll love it.
