Large and clean. The smell of nostalgia! Places to sit and read and also check out cigars and other goodies at the cashier desk. The cat (Alice) greeted me at the front door and led me on a tour. Wonderful to know they help the cats find homes too!.

We love to visit this local book store! Always has lots of new and great selections! This bookstore is so unique and has tons of character! We love visiting to see Alice while we browse for books. Customer service is great here and they always have good recommendations. If your in need of a book make this a priority stop!

Love stopping in here whenever I'm in the area. The staff have always been helpful and have helped me discover books for myself and for gifts. There's a nice selection of children's books and toys. They also have several magazines and daily newspapers. Alice, the resident kitty, may even come greet you while you're there!

If you want LOCAL, then people need to visit here. Grab a bite then walk over to visit this quality classic book store, enjoy a comfortable seat and check out BEST collection of local information. TrailGuide about GAP and dozens of books about history of the region, battles, famous people... Lee is nice man.

I loved wandering the aisles of kids books. The used kids books were great! I went in Dec and they had the most amazing looking Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Excellent establishment. Wide selection of new and used books. Plus, a great selection of cigars and pipes. I was impressed that they offered to cut my stick on site. Good stuff.

An added bonus, the joint works with a local shelter or whatever and has foster cats running around.

Stopped in with my oldest daughter and was pleasantly surprised. They have books for absolutely everyone and every age in your household. They also have complete arts and crafts for your kids starting at around $10. They have teddy bears, magazines, calligraphy sets, and a unique cigar selection. They have a lot of cumberland history here as well. I think the best thing in the entire store was Alice. Stop by... it's cute and cozy

I was greeted by the owner as soon as I came in. Soon followed in being greeted by Alice, their cat. The gentleman was very pleasant talking to me. This store carries a lot of used books which allowed me to find older books that other stores no longer have and in some cases can not order. In the front of store are new releases. This bookstore also carries local history which our other bookstores don't seem to. Also, as a private business you are able to find books that larger chain stores don't seem to stock.

Great place to buy books and premium cigars. You can also find kittens available for adoption. Alice is the live-in cat who's the official greeter. Good place to find out about Cumberland from extensive local history section and about tourist attractions. Open 7 days a week.

Great local book store! We were just browsing but ended up with books for my 11 and 13 year old girls, plus one of the “blind date with a book” selections. I still haven’t opened it, but how could I not be intrigued by “five unforgettable women’s lives intertwine”?

Good little book shop in a very historic building. Older books and newer as well, not as populated as other used bookshops ive been to. But as a big reader in any bookstore with thousands of books, i always walk away with a book. Book was just a few bucks.Support local independent bookshops! Grab a book and go to the local cafe to enjoy it! Good Readings!

Lee and his staff are keeping reading alive in Cumberland! Nice people and great selection of used and new books. Every time I duck in to this shop for a quick browse, I end up seeing something I need to have.

Love this bookstore. I mentioned to my BF that I wish I could find some great books for the boys in my fifth grade classroom. The proprietor jumped up and inquired further about my comment. He then showed me several viable options that I think will really work for my students. It's great to be in a book store where folks know their books.

Great bookstore with a mix of used, new, and vintage. It was neat to see books I hadn't seen since I was a kid. Friendly staff.

Cute find. I like how there are used books available as well. What's neat is they have a "blind date" section with wrapped books sorted by category. So it really is like a blind date! Don't judge a book by it's cover.

This place is great! My partner loves to read (I’m more of an e-reader—sorry!), so after he bought some books at Main Street Books in Frostburg we decided to stop here, too, at Book Center in Downtown Cumberland while exploring the Queen City.

Within seconds we were greeted by a curious feline. I enjoyed petting him/her! We then split up and browsed. My partner bought a few books. I was most interested in a small section they have that’s specifically dedicated to books profiling the history of Cumberland, LaVale, Frostburg, and Allegany County. I’m a history buff who can’t get enough of the breathtaking architecture of the Queen City, and it was nice to note they had such a great selection of local history books for future visits!

Prior to leaving I was also greeted by an adorable pup, which, of course, I also petted, and ogled two napping caged kittens available for adoption. My partner and I have both been enduring work-related anxiety lately, and petting these wonderful animals made me feel so much more at-peace!

Although we live in Pittsburgh we’ll be back and will sing the virtues of day-tripping in Western Maryland to our friends up here. It was so incredibly sad to see Downtown Cumberland ~50% vacant. I hope more monied DC, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh people discover Cumberland soon and help nourish wonderful small businesses like Book Center!
