This place was not what I expected. Passing by it seems like your average pizza joint. But eating there so much love goes into the quality of the food and experience. I was so glad this restaurant was recommended to me. We did the pizzakase experience and it was well worth the money - amazing. I didn’t know what we would get and each dish was unique and delicious. I can’t wait to go back.

My husband and I went for the pizzakase experience. We’re always looking for new restaurants and things to experience and this really stood out as a fun way to try a new to us restaurant. It was incredible. Every person there (especially our wonderful server Bernadette) was so nice to talk to and the service was impeccable. The restaurant and kitchen were beautiful and so clean! We got a TON of food and some really delicious dishes during our meal. Each dish was so different from the last and I was STUFFED by the last leg of our meal. The evening wrapped up with a delightful tiramisu. I can’t wait to go back for regular dining and I’m already planning on when we want to do pizzakase again! Thank you to the whole team for such a welcoming and food focused environment. The work and attention to detail shines through and we will absolutely be returning soon.

It had been a while since my last visit but Went for my wife’s birthday on Saturday and as usual, the food was stellar. Did miss the Margherita pizza and the Nduja Mac and Cheese but it’s been a while since we had been. It makes sense that the menu is going to change. Either way, it was an awesome experience. Peyton doesn’t miss. I had the sausage and fennel cream pizza and was blown away. We invited friends and it was their first time going and they were believers after the first bite. Thanks Peyton and Mission Pizza for making that special day a great one!

Right upon walking into this divine establishment, I knew I was about to indulge in some quality cuisine. The ambiance inside was inviting and dim, which made great for some good grub and nice wine with some friends. We had been waiting to go here for some time now, and it was surely worth the wait. It was quite the stormy evening and our table was placed at the front, with a window above us, so we got to enjoy the rest of the lightning storm and the hazed sky at dusk.
Moving onto the more important part.....the freakin' food. UGH. Pizzas were absolutely perfect. We had a group of four and each pie came sliced into 4 pieces, which was rather convenient. We started our meal with two appetizers; the copious Parmesan Reggiano topped arugula salad and the prosciutto with burrata. May I please say, that whatever olive oil was used on both of those, was absolutely drinkable. The moment it touched my lips I was sent on a one way trip to heaven (with no plans to return as long as I have an endless supply of that EVOO). The plump burrata sat beautifully abed the layers of prosciutto, what more could I ask for?
Each pizza was made with love and flavors to send you to off to another galaxy; we enjoyed the mushroom one, the shallot veggie, the soppressata and hot honey, and the classic smoked mozzarella.
We will 100000000% be returning here because our bellies ran out of room and couldn't fit anything else. I can't wait to try the pastas and other dishes! The wine selection was lovely as well. I enjoyed some Visintini Pinot Grigio!
Keep doing what you're doing Mission Pizza, you rule =)
One happy customer.

Mission pizza is it. Working in a pizza place for almost a decade made me picky. Later being introduced to quality Neapolitan style in Charleston furthered that pickiness and when that place closed down I spent years searching for something to scratch that itch and came up empty and not for a lack of trying. Mission does that and more spoiling my tastes and senses stuffing me like a thanksgiving turkey yet having me pining for my next visit.

Pizzakase combines the best of what draws me to food combining seasonality with the whims of a chef that understands taste, texture, and food itself. But this has gotten ahead a little. Walking in the smells of pizza waft through the air evoking memories for me of comfort, childhood and good people. Olive, cheese, tomato, dough doing the tango strutting their best stuff. The dim red/orange glows through the restaurant and while no one is being cooked alive it’s simply atmospheric enhancing the fire coming from the beautiful wood oven.

The journey doesn’t begin with pizza. We start with wood fired veggies, onions, golden beets, greens(chard?), peppers and the most beautiful combination of cheese and farro. Now, I went in with low expectation because I’ve had more bad farro than good. Chefs like to try too hard to make it Al dente and I don’t want crunchy slightly undercooked farro it’s just not my vibe. These grains were expertly cooked not mushy holding their shape and texture but threading that line between over and under packed with brothy flavor. My expectations for everything else went up exponentially.

We were hit with an array of love from wood fired lobster, to a smoked cheese, oil, and roe pizza each course as good as the last and next. A novice at tearing pizza with my hands I did work while trying to save some for my partner using a fork to stop myself from destroying the prize for my other half. I licked my fingers after each bite doing my best Denethor impression. This was a handsy dinner.

Fried pizza with ricotta plus guanciale hit next with shocking lightness and I mean that in the weight. Lifting the dough off the plate was like carrying a feather through the air and as tasty as it was paled in flavor to the luck I would soon receive. Chef graced us with a light clam and shishito dish with a broth so rich and tangy it could only be one upped by dipping the fried dough I was still munching on in to said broth. Beguiling so was this unexpected combo I closed my eyes and just smiled. Take me now.

Umami ham dusted the top of the next pizza and ended the pizza onslaught with simplicity. I love flavor but the dough and sauce has such a complex taste with so many flavor notes it make simplicity deceiving. Fewer topping leaves you open for the tastes and textures that could otherwise by covered with a couple additions and it’s not necessary. Sauce and dough. Dough and sauce. That’s what it’s about and it doesn’t get better than Mission Pizza.

My husband and I did the Pizzakaze experience and it was amazing. Evan and Peyton made the most delicious dishes. If you want an authentic Italian pizza, we recommend this place!

What a great place. Just had an event here and the food, the pizza and the service couldn’t have been better. Kenny was a great host and they make their pizzas to perfection. Can’t say enough good things about Mission Pizza. And we had a friend who had some dietary restrictions and they were so accommodating it was awesome. It just doesn’t get better than this.

We tried their Pizzakase today and it was delicious. We added the lobster course and amazing. We tried to prepare by not eating too much beforehand and we still came home with pizza. They served us so much delicious food. Their pizza crust was light and chewy. You can tell they put a lot of love and care into only using the best ingredients. The PizzaKase not only included pizza, it also included an awesome salad, risotto, and dessert too. Everything we tried was wonderful. We can't wait to go back.

Out of town from Nashville, and it was the perfect dinner out for our time in Winston. We had the Prix Fixe family style… the meal was certainty creative and left me excited about what was coming out next. The menu was a fresh salad, mussels, story book pizza, black squid spaghetti, and donuts. I’ve been dreaming of those mussels and donuts since! Definitely have an open mind about the Prix Fixe menu.. part of the fun is eating something other than what you would normally order! The pizza served as part of the menu was interesting with horseradish but was still so good! I highly recommend dining at Mission Pizza!

We have been to Mission Pizza many times and for good reason, it is amazing!
First, when you walk in you’re greeted by an incredible ambiance of dim lighting and the smell of the wood fired pizza oven.
Second, the food is some of the best you will find In triad! Most people will say this is just pizza but the attention to detail is what you would expect in a Michelin Star restaurant in a major city.
We usually opt for the Pizzakase because it is always something new and very creative, I recommend everyone try it!

We had high expectations for the Prix fixe experience and it did not miss! The quality of ingredients and simple creativity of each dish far exceeded what we expected. This was legitimately the best meal my wife and I have had in Winston. Service was awesome, each dish was meticulously explained to us and you can tell these chefs are ELITE from their presentation. Panna Cotta was the best I have ever had. We love the the lighting and cant wait to go back

It had rained all week and the weather had finally broken Friday evening and we got to sit outside and the fans and atmosphere were great.

But the food. This is our second time here and we did the chef’s choice and the hot honey.
Both. Were. Amazing. I love when the chef can just do what they want and from what I have heard, no one is ever disappointed.

They now also offer a Omasake which is where you sit at the bar and I have heard from a coworker that it’s epic.

However that part is a bit pricy but we may be back and plan for that part specifically.

This was some of the best pizza of my life, and I lived in NYC for 5 years. For me, it’s neck and neck with Una Pizza Napoletana in New York as best of that style in the country! Quality ingredients, perfect crust, super hot oven, and a pizza maker who cares about doing it right. The “pizzakase” was super creative and included one with trout roe, a fried pizza with lemon and ricotta, and a folded over pizza with horseradish and prosciutto, as well as other surprises along the way. Will definitely be back!

My wife and I made a reservation for a Saturday night "Pizzakaze" experience. The restaurant wasn't ready to seat us until 10 minutes past our scheduled reservation, and they brought us both complimentary prosecco while we waited.

The dining experience was really great- we sat right in front of the kitchen, and the head chef sent out 6 courses (3 pizzas, 2 salads, and a dessert) over the course of about an hour and a half. The pizzas were amazing, really reminiscent of true Italian neapolitan pies. They were light and airy, and didn't leave you feeling stuffed even after consuming such a big meal.

To those reviewers complaining about the service, I understand the frustration, but what I would say is that this entire establishment is run by 3 chefs who are working non-stop, all evening, with incredible attention to detail and a true passion for what they're doing. I can see how there might be delays with service, but if you're looking for a great dining experience, I would highly recommend MPN. We'll definitely be back!

I often stop at Mission Pizza on my frequent trips between Asheville and Raleigh. The menu is straightforward and offers just enough of everything. Pizza is beyond reproach and true to Neapolitan form. It goes great will a cold Peroni. The small plates, salads, and pastas all hit the mark. Had the wood oven chicken piccata last night and it was outstanding. Wine list is simple but has everything you need. Totally reminiscent of a true Italian pizza spot. And look out AVL, you are in for a treat. Highly recommend stopping in.

Unparalleled excellence! Personalized service, extreme attention to detail, the highest quality ingredients and exceptional composition of each dish and the meal as a whole....overall one of the very few truly PERFECT meals I have ever eaten. This food is NOT comparable to other “Neapolitan” pizzerias in the area. They may be of a similar style but the talent, skill, and style of this chef is a world beyond what anyone else is producing. If you have to make or wait for a reservation...do it. This is fine dining in an accessible, comfortable environment- it’s worth the wait.

The prix fixe menu was perfect . The chef’s selection was excellent from the arugula salad , pasta with shrimp ( pasta was prepared exactly right and the shrimp was cooked to the right temperature and length ) , wood fired vegetable ,a most creative pizza baked to perfection and a delightful and delicious dessert so appropriate to the ambience . The tempo of the service was most appropriate and a friendly staff. A really perfect evening - just wish you were in Greenville SC but will definitely be a mandatory place for future visits . All the accolades that Mission Pizza has received a well deserved . Bravo !

This place is delicious. Got to sit at the bar with my son and guy making the pizza gave him a big hunk of focaccia after he finished off his pizza quick. That won over our 13 year old and I really appreciate it! Make sure to put your phone away too!

My fiancé and I decided to come here on a Saturday afternoon. We had read many conflicting reviews and wanted to see for ourselves and we are so glad we did. I ordered the cry baby pizza and he had the diavola pizza. Both were outstanding. You do have to eat them kind of quickly so that they are still hot but that wasn’t a problem for us because it was so tasty. We both ate our entire pizzas. The sauce to cheese ratio was perfect and every bite had tons of flavor. The crust was perfectly thin and airy with hints of char. We will definitely be coming back!

We've been searching for authentic neopolitan pizza since we moved to the area. The pizza at Mission is amazing! Perfect crust and fresh toppings. We had the Bianca prosciutto and the Diavola. Both were delicious. We also had the oven fired cauliflower and the zeppole. My only complaint really was the outdoor seating is uncomfortable. It's either a picnic table or the awkwardly shaped metal chairs. We had great service and will definitely be going back!
