Lovely, knowledgeable and attentive staff. Found the right pair of hiking shoes and a fabulous art project book using natural materials for my daughter. Also found a sweet owl book for my preschool class at the time. Let’s not leave out the adorable sloth hiking socks either.

Great store for the casual hiker or the seasoned trail veteran. Staff is super friendly, and the store has a great variety of outdoor products.

I've bought several pair of outdoor footwear here and the folks are always helpful and receptive! It's amazing how much they have in such a small space!

If you are looking for an outfitter, you will be surprised to find such a great selection in a small town as you will find at Smoky Mountain Trader. One employee--Aubree--is a soft spoken big bear of a man with a world of outdoor experience. If you were dropped into the store from from outer space (or Atlanta), and suddenly decided to hike to the top of Mt. Yonah (or one of the many other scenic hikes around), no doubt he would give you great advice and have the gear that would get you there and back. Clothes, hiking poles, backpacks, socks, hiking boots and shoes, bear spray, compass, maps, knives, and pretty much everything you need for your expedition from scratch. I highly recommend that you stop by on your way to your next hike. You won't be disppointed.

(Except firearms. If you need a firearm for your personal protection, you could hit up my friends at Gun Commanders who have a surprisingly large inventory of their wares.)

If you’re in Cleveland GA. stop in and see these guys. I have been looking for the perfect pair of hiking shoes . Been looking for months. Walked in told the guy what I was looking for and he said try these. First pair he picked out was perfect. They have a nice selection to choose from.

My partner and I stopped by Smoky Mountain Trader for the first time on our way back home from hiking Raven Cliff Falls, as I needed a new pair of hiking shoes.

The store is beautiful and well-stocked with high-quality brands, and we received a warm welcome upon entering. One of the employees (Daubrey) went above and beyond in helping me find the shoes that are right for me. Daubrey was very patient, incredibly knowledgeable, and kind. It’s this type of service that is a lost art in this age of large corporate chains. Even though I live in Alpharetta, I will make the drive up whenever I need quality hiking gear and stellar service. I would rather support this store than give my business to larger competitors. Thank you.

Pick up some shoes for my wife.Also some elk jerky.And a eye glasses cord holder. The service and attention was fantastic.The store was amazing upstairs and the main floor area.would highly recommend this place for your hiking and camping needs.

My husband and I love Smoky Mountain Trader! The selection is great, the people are friendly and knowledgeable, and it's just wonderful to have a local outfitter. We've acquired a fair amount of our best backpacking gear from here, and it's all been excellent. 👍 Great store for sure.

Smokey Mountain Trader is our go to! My husband and I have never had a bad experience there. All of the employees have always been so helpful and have helped us find the best fit for us when it comes to our shoes instead of automatically going for the newest and most expensive. We don’t go often because they only sell high quality items that last but when we do go it’s always a fun time and we never leave disappointed. PLUS they’re locally owned and I will always encourage people to shop local!

The gentleman whom works the register here is an Angel to the outdoor community. Every time I've visited he has been more than helpful. Today he helped me fit my unusually large 90L pack. I appreciate his knowledge, know how, and expertise. Thank you so much and I highly recommend any and everyone visit this outfitter.

I went here today in hopes of finding new hiking shoes, and was able to get exactly what I was looking for. Not only that but the guy working could not have been any nicer or more helpful. He was amazing. Oh and if you are like me, and you are a lady with bigger feet I would definitely suggest trying here. I wear a 10 and 1/2 in women's or an 8 and 1/2 in men's and they had plenty for me to choose from

I have been shopping at Smoky Mountain Trader for 3 years now and couldn't be happier. First of all, their products are of great quality. They don't sell the cheap stuff you'll find at Bass Pro Shop or Walmart. Secondly, Their staff is amazing. Knowledgeable, informed, and able to make advice when you are looking at the gear. Great to ask for gift advice too! Lastly, there is something special to me about a family run business that keeps their priorities right. Its easy to cut corners in this world, but at Smoky the owners are amazing, good, caring people. I would HIGHLY recommend them. (Just FYI, my previous purchase history would include knives, coins, backcountry packs, camping gear, clothes, shoes, etc. A little of everything they sell!)

Amazing store atmosphere with very friendly staff and owner. Prices are fantastic, let alone a store of it's size. I've gotten and received holiday gifts from here the past two years and it's incredible how much there is to chose from! Quality packs, boots, and clothing brands.

Great, personal service here!! Dear husband got to try on several sizes and brands of hiking shoes. Staff recommendation was spot on! I also purchased a pair of Keen sandals that literally rubbed me the wrong way when I got them home, and an exchange was not trouble at all!
