Callahan's Seafood Bar & Grill

My friend and I visited here for dinner after an epic 16 hour road trip through six states. We were in the mood for Maryland seafood and Callahan's did not disappoint. She and I absolutely love crab so we try it where ever we can find it. We arrived just before dinner service was ending but our waiter made us feel welcomed. We asked a lot of questions about the menu and he explained everything so we could make the best choice for our tastes. We ordered the crab skins for our appetizer. So, so good. We had never had crab dip on a potato. It was a great combo and something we will try to recreate here at home. We each had a bowl of soup - the Maryland crab soup for her and the cream of crab soup for me. We split the seafood platter entree, which features shrimp, crabcake, scallops and cod. The seafood was perfectly cooked, glistening on the plate, and after taking our first bite we were hooked. The crabcake was so delicious we were kind of sad we didn't order more. We also regret not ordering the Crab Imperial. We will be back for more.

Stopped by on our way to PA. Best crab cakes I’ve had. Worth a stop for sure- the bar tender gave us soup samples and all three seafood soups were amazing.

Had the crab cake and fries. It was pretty good.

The food was delicious!!! The crab dip was served in a bread bowl and a very generous serving size. It was one of the best we've ever had! My husband had the French dip sandwich and french onion soup. I had the half flatbread (seafood)/salad special . The seafood was flavorful and the salad was fresh. Everything tasted great!!! Would drive the hour to visit here again!

I rarely rate any business a 5 but in this case, I just feel Callahan's earned it. I had dinner on Sunday, St. PATRICK's Day. The traditional Irish meal of Corned beef & Cabbage.
It was terrific and I will be back.....

My Marine Veteran Husband had a fun time meeting an Air Force Veteran from Andrews Airforce Base, and the Crab Cake is as good as my Grandma's from the Northern Neck of VA on the Chesapeake Bay. Guy Fieri should visit this place. Hidden Gem!

A fun time! Visted the bar side of the restaurant and the atmosphere was nice. A very enjoyable time. Had appetizers for dinner and they were hot and tasty.

We got carry-out from here today. It was excellent. The crab cakes are packed with fresh meat, seasoned and cooked right. The fried shrimp were great. The side salad was super fresh and a good size. The dining room looks great. The bar is old school cool. The server at the bar was really friendly. I can't wait to go back and try some other things on the extensive menu. It's a little pricey but you get what you pay for.

Stopped in while here from NYC and I have no complaints. Very warm and friendly service. We were surprised with some delicious soup samples that also made for a good french fry dip! The crab dip in bread was the best ever. Very rich and creamy and full of flavor and the bread was so fresh. My bf had the crab cake sandwich and loved it. My crab legs were just right. We'll be back.

Great place. Has great menu options, and prices are reasonable. Both times I have been the food has been great. I am definitely going back. There is a good home town feel as well, you know you are not in a chain restaurant. The service depends on who you get though. Each time we have been the service has never been bad. We have had an ok server, and a good server. My wife and I noticed a server who was doing an amazing job with his table. Together, my wife and I have over 50 years in restaurants and we met in culinary school. We know good restaurants. This is an exceptional one. If you are thinking about going here, DO.

A nice restaurant in a quiet neighborhood. The restaurant is old but well maintained. It serves mainly seafood dishes. If u like a like lunch try the half and half. The crab imperial was good.

Better place to eat than BJs Resturant & Brewhouse

Amazing experience. Jess was the best server and the food was to die for. I am visiting from out of town but will definitely come back again when I'm over this way.

Food and service are consistently outstanding. It's my favorite restaurant in Frederick. When we go out for my birthday, we always go to Callahan's.
