We had a tasty lunch here! Service was hustling and very attentive. Brisket was tender and we enjoyed the sauces. The sides were on point. The fries were great. The greens had a kick but not too much. The sweet potato was incredible! We really had a nice time.

Great BBQ restaurant in Frederick, always have helpful staff to give recommendations too.

The Brisket melts in your mouth, the Ribs has some great flavor. We tried the chopped Pork for the first time and it was ok but I’d probably try the sausage next time.

Every time we’ve been we’ve always ordered the “Triple Meat MoFo” sandwich and it’s always the star of the show.

I’ve never had a bad meal here!

Just excellent. Some of the best BBQ I've ever had.

The brisket (the one like burnt ends) was top notch. Ham delicious as well. Sides were delish and I especially like the vinegar sauce.

Nicely done, folks.

Traveling through and decided to stay the night in Fredrick and this place was right on point! Sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and on point with service. I had some wings and they were good! Being from upstate NY I was pretty happy as I am used to wings. Had the Arkansas brisket and that was fabulous! The portions were just right too! Glad they focus on quality and not quantity. Had a local beer and that helped my thirst! If I am back in town, I will make this a go to place.

Atmosphere:
Really enjoyed the inside of the establishment, especially the neon sign on one side of the wall making you aware of what's available. There is a good amount of seating area for eating and pretty spacious even though many places to sit. I liked how both the pick up orders and bar area are split up and across from each other.

Service:
Their service was impeccable and was seated promptly. Having never been to this establishment the waitress offer some great recommendations and foods we had to try out, even though everything looked good.

Quality:
Where do I begin, coming from Texas, we take our BBQ very serious and even the waitress was worried at first but was certain we wouldn't be disappointed. She mentioned that I should try the Arkansas Brisket because the amount of flavor it had and would definitely be worth it. Being our first time there, she recommended the Dry Rub Jumbo Wings as a starter and they were really good, just the right amount of rub and the size of the wings were just like the menu stated. Before we left, she asked how it all stacked up and we told her that it was amazing and wished we could try everything. She said she should have recommended the Triple Meat Mofo Sandwich and Luke's Chili, in which later in the week I got and highly recommend because the amount of flavor and quantity of each meal.

Was in town for work and normally don't like to go the same restaurant twice but had to make an exception for this one due to how amazing everything was. Highly recommend and you won't be disappointed.

You guys - there’s not a single negative thing to say about tonight’s dinner other than my pants are fitting a little too tight for my liking.

We drove downtown with the intention of stopping at the first place that looked good - we made it one block before deciding on Black Hog. The gentlemen helping me was honestly one of the nicest people I’ve met. Super friendly and personable.

We got a brisket meal with sweet potatoes and Mac and cheese. Joey got a hamburger. Joe got something along the lines of a mofo sandwich. We got a quart of chili to take home and than tres leches for the bestie. The cornbread will be saved for the chili tomorrow.

The pictures don’t even do the meal justice.

Black Hog BBQ is located in a really cool location in downtown Frederick. Parking? They have a parking lot so there is a good chance you don't have to park on the street. Inside, the place is clean and we were greeted right away. We tried the Arkansas BBQ which was a delicious meal. The southern greens were p-e-r-f-e-c-t (we recommend). The Carolina Pork sandwich (with coleslaw on top) was yummy and there is plenty of sandwich. The fries were excellent. Service was excellent... Music was good. Outside seating and inside. Take-away orders as well. Really good!

Stopped in for dinner on our way to DC and holy cow did they deliver. Great and fast service, place was pretty calm even though it was a Saturday night. My sisters and I all got the Meal on a Bun sandwich (pulled pork, coleslaw, french fries, and house bbq sauce) with a different side each to try (mac & cheese, potato salad, and sweet potato), while our dad got the Triple Meat Mofo sandwich (smoked ham, pork, and brisket with onions and cheese) with southern greens. When I tell y’all this is some of the best (if not THE best) bbq we’ve ever had. Every single thing we tried blew us away, all of it was delicious. Food came out super quick and I can’t complement it enough. Whether you’re local, or passing through, you’ve got to give this place a try!!

Outstanding food, at least the Eastern NC style Pulled Pork BBQ that my wife and I both ordered. Authentic Eastern NC taste. Yet, they also do all of the major styles of BBQ (KC, Memphis, etc. ) in Pork and Beef. Service was excellent; friendly and attentive. The peanut butter pie and cheesecake were tasty but the star of this show is the bbq. A laid back, local “joint” feel to the ambiance. Tables and chairs in the front with a small bar in the back. Great experience!

Black Hog is the best BBQ in the Maryland area. I highly recommend it! Everytime I am in the area I never miss a chance to get my grub on there. You will leave the restaurant satisfied and smiling because you will have a very satisfying meal!

A small town local BBQ restaurant in Frederick, MD with reasonable priced, but awesome tasty menu entrees! Traveled down from PA with 4 other employees to upgrade the IT hardware in the local office. After upgrades were complete and tested asked for a recommendation for a good local BBQ joint. With no hesitations, Black Hog BBQ Bar was mentioned and off we went for the 5 minute drive. We sat at the bar and had excellent service. Quick turn around on the ordered entrees and complete silence from everyone as we all enjoyed our meals. The pulled pork BBQ sandwich with Cole slaw was delicious! Definitely will return if we have to make another office visit in the future.

Went here on Wednesday as a recommendation from a friend. The special of the day was 1/2 price ribs when you order a full rack. I like the fact they offer various styles of bbq; mop, dry rub, or sauced.

I wanted to try the pulled pork and brisket because those are my favorites. The best part of my visit was finding the spicy vinegar sauce that I used to enjoy while living in North Carolina. My recommendation is the Kansas City (sweet) for brisket, and Carolina Vinegar for the pulled pork. I hope the opportunity arises in the future for a return.

Lastly I drank a unique IPA made with 51% Rye. Monument brewing - check it out.

The food was so good, sauces were really good too. Good portions and nothing was too salty, too spicy. Everything was well cooked. Waitress was really kind too

Came in for lunch at this convenient Downtown Frederick Location. The atmosphere is nice and fitting for a BBQ joint. The food is real good. Gumbo is great. No draft. Bottles, Cans & Cocktails. Definitely recommend.

Awesome local BBQ joint in historic Frederick. The ribs were fantastic (both wet and dry rubbed). They had a great bark, slow cooked smoked flavor, and a nice pink "smoke ring" indicative of real BBQ. The hand cut fries were fresh a and perfectly cooked too. They have a great selection of beers and specialty cocktails if you want some booze with you BBQ. The service was super friendly and made us feel welcome the second we walked in. Highly recommend this place !

So good! I had the specialty sandwich with three meats (subbed sausage for ham). Wow. I love Frederick. Also just a thought: if Frederick had more downtown breweries it could have a very similar feel to Asheville, NC.
