I stopped by Payton's on my way home from Shenandoah National Park and was very pleased I did. The staff was so friendly and charming and absolutely sold me on the fried chicken here. Happy to have stopped by!

If you want good chicken - go on the weekend. Honestly some of THE best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Falls off the bone and fresh. Otherwise a pretty functional convenience store.

The best fried chicken since my grandma's 30 years ago. It survived time under a heat lamp, a one hour drive in a Styrofoam container, and a reheat in the oven, and was absolutely freaking delicious. Nearly brought tears to my eyes. Thank you.
